Skyrim Remastered

If Bethesda doesn't release Skyrim as a separate game but free (think of it like Divinity Original Sin's enhanced edition or Wasteland 2's Director's Cut that added a new install to your steam account so that you had access to two versions of the game, one former and one latter) and instead chooses to override their previous version and forcing the new 64 bit Skyrim onto people that will break Skyrim Script Extender then it means that a lot of people's games will not be playable and they'll have to start over completely and most mods using the script extender won't work.

If that happens then I will feel bad for the people who's games got ruined but the schadenfreude (google it) of seeing Bethesda shoot themselves in the food will outweigh that sorrow I feel for my fellow gamer.
its free if you own all dlc and the legitimate copy. just like D: OS

now script extender.....correct me, why do you think its not gonna work in 64bit executable? it just basically a collection of function for modder, why couldn't just emulate it if necessary?

Oh boy... This is gonna suck for the modding community. The sub-normal gamers may start blaming modders for 'sabotaging' their mods and Skyrim vanilla does not hold up without mods which makes more of the sub-normals angry like so:
:jiggy:
It may get Bethesda more deserved flack if they do screw up all the mods requiring SKSE at least but I do hope that the modders don't suffer for Bethesda's mistakes and for Bethesda.aids.
1.) 5 year old PC modding community that is mostly content and isn't forced to change.
2.) Have you ever released a massive mod and gone through the turmoil of praise and bashing? Would you want to do it again 5 years after the dust settled with 20 times the amount of users? Probably not.
3.) the new title will cause transfer issues for those wanting to transfer or mod for console. Most modders of big mods probably don't care. I know I don't, but people change when money is involved. If they monetize Skyrim mods, that is the only way the modding community will take damage from the SE edition imo.

I dunno, don't ask me. Ask the guy who made a video about it. Gopher, I think? I'm have no idea if the script extender will stop working and if they'll have to create a new one but I'm just playing with the hypothetical of "what if he's right?"

Ah... I knew I forgot to specify which modding community.

Perhaps this is how Bethesda will bring back paid mods. They may start providing incentives for modders to create Special edition compatible mods and if the mod thefts start again, Bethesda may promote a program to protect modders in return for allowing Bethesda to monetize their mods. I'm thinking hypothetically here so what I say may not sound feasible in real life.

Considering old Skyrim is 32 bit which means SKSE is probably only optimized for the 32 bit version and I doubt that will be compatible with the 64 bit version. It's an exe if I recall so it'll have to replace the original exe which is 64 bit so it's probably a no go. If they slapped Skyrim into Fllout 4's crappy ass engine it could definitely spell trouble.

I don't know myself, but Gopher thinks it won't work, and I assume he knows what he's talking about when it comes to using script extenders in mods. There's a video of his posted on the previous page of this thread explaining his take. He also states that Fallout 4's script extender is nowhere near complete yet, even though that game was released in November.

I also hope that it will be released as another title, like Wasteland 2 did. Not as an override.
Not only for the mod/SKSE, but most of all for the ones who don't have the luck or resources for a gaming rig. It would be cruel to suddenly override their game and make it unplayable on potatoes. Many people don't have the chance of owning a machine that can handle godrays, HD textures and adaptative DOF.

If Bethesda wanted to actually "Remaster" Skyrim, they could take this chance to add to the actual game engine the SKSE functions using the same names as in the Script Extender. That would even allow consoles to use SKSE mods.
The only mods that still wouldn't work are the ones that rely on SKSE extensions with their own DLL files.
(The same would work for Fallout 4, to allow F4SE mods on consoles).

Apparently, all mods will have to be compiled with the new toolkit, because they changed something in the Skyrim.esm. I don't know much about the technical data, I just saw it on a recent video from Shinji72 :

I am going to skip out on the "Remaster". Knowing Bethesda they are going to introduce more bugs and glitches into the game and I have a hard enough time getting Skyrim to run with my mods as it is. I pretty much have to make an unholy sacrifice to the PC Gods to get the damn thing work properly.

It's for free if you have the Legendary Edition or base game and all the DLCs.

I hope they remaster the world building. :D I have faith
They'll master taking the money of suckers buying into this "special" edition shit.
