Skyrim Remastered

On one hand it's nice that they're adding mod support, but on the other hand I'm not impressed by the remaster at all. I've seen mods that make the game looks 100x better than this.

Don't care about graphics. And tell you the truth, Skywind seems to just move Morrowind into Skyrim engine abandoning the gameplay and systems which, as far as I am concerned, makes it a completely useless mod.

Oh, I have no expectations at all. Just saying it'd be an inclination to give it another shot if it was more (in a substantial way) than just a prettier paint.
Just the fact they have no plans to charge PC users for the "remaster" tells me they don't plan to do anything beyond slapping on a fresh coat of paint.

Maybe if they're feeling really generous they might make a couple of new armor/weapon packs available as "free" DLC on Bethesda.net. I'm still completely convinced that at the end of this rainbow we'll find some scheme to force console users (and possibly PC users too) to pay for their mods in one way or another.

A silly question : can PC gamers actually turn down the graphical update, or refuse the update ? Not all PCs can handle godrays, depth of field, blur and sharp. Some -many- people don't have the money to buy a new gaming rig, and still enjoy Skyrim on potatoes, and that's great. The thing is, I really hope that they won't see their game suddenly become unplayable !

I am glad they are not going to charge me for it.

I don't think it is supposed to replace skyrim in steam but to add it as a new game.

Half or more of those comparisons look better in the original, imo. The remastered stuff looks exactly like your typical over-the-top enb that is mostly used for pretty screenshots. That depth-of-field, for example, is annoying as fuck. I don't mind such effects, but in the end I want sharp and clear graphics when I play a game like this.

I tried making Skyrim prettier with enb's once. Yes, it was prettier. But in order to actually be able to play the game properly, I just went back to the original graphics.
Was just about to say that... The remastered stuff looks weirdly hazy and blurry by comparison (with an occasional yellow filter).
It hurts my eyes to be honest (I am not joking) I hate blurry stuff, my eyes can't handle them anymore and now it seems like they stick a faint blurry orange tint on top of everything... Also for the same reason I can't play games with DoF.
I also never understood why games even have DoF for that matter, my eyes do not need artificial blurriness, they already have natural DoF, if I look at the center of the screen the edges get naturally blurred, and if I look at one edge of the screen the rest is also naturally blurred (because that is how eyes work), so what is with this fixation on games to make me only see the damn center of the screen? Do game devs think people eyes are lazy and so they need to help blur the screen? but what if I want to look past that NPC I am talking? or look at the left even though my character is facing forwards (we can move our eyes even if we don't move our head or entire body like in the game), we can't because then for some reason everything is blurred... I don't like to say this but it totally breaks my "immersion" and gives me headaches and makes my eyes tear too...

Ooops... sorry for the rant, I just woke up and am grumpy... :hide:

Doesn't Bethesda already have a high resolution patch on Steam already?
Yeah, there were high res textures for PC already. Now they tacked on a few shaders and maybe some more fresh textures, but nothing a mod can't do.
I thought they'd be porting it to the newer version of the Creation Engine used in Fallout 4, but either the difference in engines is so little that it can be done with a simple patch through Steam or they're not doing it.

A bit like Wasteland director's cut, then. Alright. I hope it's the case, it would be very cruel for the ones with bad computers, otherwise.

Huehuehue.

The blurrier it is the more immersive it is, get with the [current year] grandpa!

You're right, I should just move on with the times
Here, to show I am now a cool grandpa here it is my new modding project:

That's a good start... Have you considered turning it first person and real-time?

Only if I score Todd Howard's job, or maybe Pete Hines' one.

Be aware both of those include a lot of sitting around at the boys' club, drinking beer and eating pizza in your underpants, telling dick jokes and saying "pull my finger". Think you can handle it?

I don't think so.... Also I could never bear to say so many lies... It's hopeless .

I wonder if they will port Skyrim into the more polished Creation Engine version of Fallout 4 or somehow just hack the old engine... If they port it into the Fallout 4 engine we might see a Fallout 4 in Skyrim Remastered project one of these days :lmao:.

So what is this outrage all about, are the mods not going to be free?
I personally believe that bethesda.net was created for that purpose, to sell mods, and I also believe that October is when they will be launching it. I'm also not the only one that believes that that is what is going to happen. My concern is not that Skyrim mods will be stolen, but that others will try to profit off of those stolen mods. The scum of the earth will rise. Mod authors considering hiding there mods, depending on the popularity of the most will be hiding them in vain. Any popular mod can be obtained from a 5 year old game from many sources.
