Skyrim Remastered

I personally believe that bethesda.net was created for that purpose, to sell mods, and I also believe that October is when they will be launching it. I'm also not the only one that believes that that is what is going to happen. My concern is not that Skyrim mods will be stolen, but that others will try to profit off of those stolen mods. The scum of the earth will rise. Mod authors considering hiding there mods, depending on the popularity of the most will be hiding them in vain. Any popular mod can be obtained from a 5 year old game from many sources.
I am also one of those who believes bethesda.net was created to sell mods... and it is sad gaming reached the point where it makes people believe in things like we do, because it usually means it will happen.

Slightly off topic, Did you notice that Emil was not at E3? I think he was at the last one.. I think Pete might have gotten a slap on the wrist for saying stupid shit. His punishment was being center stage talking about things he doesn't understand. Also, based on what Todd said about adding choice to the DLC, implies that they realized that their game literally has no choice. My hope is that Todd has read any of my posts on Emil. I'm sure he's a nice guy, he's just the worlds worst game designer and has proven three times now, he can't write. His idea-catcher just has the same old ideas floating in it. Emil's idea-catcher looks a lot like this:

Emil was busy...

Simple, it's a game many people still love, it's not on the Next Gen consoles, and it can be easily ported to the newest version of the Creation Engine.
Remastering Skyrim gets them the most bang for their buck, really. Use the updated engine from Fallout 4, add a few high res textures, do some bugfixing, and use the mod infrastructure established with Fallout 4. PROFIT
Morrowind and Oblivion are games many people still love, and they are also not on Current-gen consoles (Next-gen refers to upcoming consoles, not ones that are almost three years old). Remastered games are meant to improve the visuals of an old game (as in, a game that is at least two generations old), without changing anything gameplay related, so I doubt Bethesda will use Fallout 4's iteration of the Creation Engine when the entire engine itself is buggy and just plain hot garbage.

And no, not really. It might fix a few bugs and enable mod support for consoles, but it still will not change the fact that it will still have plenty of bugs (because Bethesda still does not know how to technically manage their own games; just look at Fallout 4 to prove my point), and Skyrim will face same the drama Fallout 4 has been having over mod support unless Bethesda finds a way to implement this feature that will not have people pointing fingers at each other because of "stolen mods". High res textures were already possible with the PC version in 2011, and the Special Edition is free to PC users who already have the game, so PC gamers are the ones getting the most bang for their buck. Some Console users are willing to fork over another $60 for a game they brought five years ago just for a few features that are not worth the $60 Bethesda is offering for.

Zaric Zhakaron has really good ideas, true. I really like his idea of replacing the bandits with dragon cultists, and the idea of turning Alduin into a Cthulhu like creature, speaking to his worshippers through their dreams.
Excellent point with the "nobody believes in dragons anymore" too. Guards should laugh at you when you mention dragons, and you have to find political leverage to make the Jarls believe in the threat. A bit like with the white walkers in Game of Thrones.
Just these two ideas already make the game way, way more interesting.

Bethesda should fire Emil and hire this guy instead:

No. He's an idiot and his ideas are short lived. He also thinks he is important. I would be curious to see him make a substantial contribution to any Elder Scrolls or Fallout title that involves quest design and story telling, being a mod creator, but as that will never happen, I will just fart into a jar and sniff it to get the same effect. Anyone that calls someone out for being a douche whilst being a douche, is a douche. He also looks like he masturbates to pictures of Steve Buscemi and Gary Busey while holding a Teddy Ruxpin plushy. Since you can never see his lower half, I imagine he is still trying to figure the way out of his mom's womb. I hate Emil, but there is actually worse. Zaric "can't even make his own builds" Zhakaron, or Zaric Chakaron.

Edit: or makes elaborate sock-puppet dramas only to later covet thy neighbors sock.
or, coats his action figures in fist-mist.
or, thinks winning the lottery involves him minus 2-3 ribs

Neat.
I wonder how badly this will backfire on Bethesda.
If they force the update to the Special Edition onto PC users, very, very badly.

Losing SkyUI would be a deal killer for me. I'd wipe Skyrim off my HDD before I'd play it with the vanilla UI again.

I'd rather not lose other great quest mods that make Skyrim fun.

Well, while I don't want people's games to be fucked over if they 'do' happen to get fucked over then many a schadenfreude will be had. Cause for every "man, that ain't right" I feel there's going to be a "OOoooooh I can't want to see how badly this will fuck over Bethesda!" and I fear the latter will drown out the former.

Real talk. :lalala:

Wait what?

Apparently the SE version would require an entirely new version of SKSE...

Oh boy... This is gonna suck for the modding community. The sub-normal gamers may start blaming modders for 'sabotaging' their mods and Skyrim vanilla does not hold up without mods which makes more of the sub-normals angry like so:
:jiggy:
It may get Bethesda more deserved flack if they do screw up all the mods requiring SKSE at least but I do hope that the modders don't suffer for Bethesda's mistakes and for Bethesda.aids.

Wait what?
If Bethesda doesn't release Skyrim as a separate game but free (think of it like Divinity Original Sin's enhanced edition or Wasteland 2's Director's Cut that added a new install to your steam account so that you had access to two versions of the game, one former and one latter) and instead chooses to override their previous version and forcing the new 64 bit Skyrim onto people that will break Skyrim Script Extender then it means that a lot of people's games will not be playable and they'll have to start over completely and most mods using the script extender won't work.

If that happens then I will feel bad for the people who's games got ruined but the schadenfreude (google it) of seeing Bethesda shoot themselves in the food will outweigh that sorrow I feel for my fellow gamer.

Wow, that is bad.
