[quote="Holocausto"Yeah I like how people act like other people waiting for a new series game with new technology and all the possible benefits that can bring when done right suddenly is null if you don't think the game does justice the the franchise name. I guess the ultimate solution for people dissatisfied with contemporary games is to just play old versions for infinity till they die (why didn't I market that genius notion?) Don't like latest in the series of (insert movie game here)? Simply play the old ones FOREVER and BE QUIET!!! Gee I don't much like Unreal 3 based on the consolified demo I tried I guess I should just play the original forever and shut my pie hole....A brilliant non solution 'solution'.[/quote]
I'm not some kind of gaming luddite who demands that all my games remain 2d and whatnot. Hell, I loved the jumps that Metroid and Ninja Gaiden made into 3d, and think that the new games in those franchises are awesome (NG is one of my favourite games).
The difference is that in both Metroid and NG, the new games remained true to the originals. Metroid is still about exploration and discovery, and NG is sitll about hardcore action.
Fallout has moved away from the original intent of the series. Do you think that 3d technology wasn't available to the developers of Fo1 and 2? There were FPS's at the time of FO1, so it wasn't a "technology" choice. It was a game design choice.
