I know, I know, two wrongs don't make a right. Only thing I stated that I 'understand' is the reason why they said something like that, but in no way did it means I condone their action. I apologize if you get me wrong.

Once again, bethesda's target audience proved to be children, maybe biological they are 18+ but still children in heart.

It's funny how similar this is to the paid mods fiasco; Bethesda teams up with a powerful corporation (Valve/Microsoft), they attempt to do something for personal gain while claiming it's for the benefit of fans (money for starved modders/mods for starved console users) and proceed to shit the bed, possibly fucking up future endeavours of the same kind.
Good job Bethesda! Whether you know it or not, you're the only company that's stopping exploitation by fucking up every attempt at innovation.

The top reason why their games are boring and repetitive. Bethesda is just one-trick pony that fails to develop on itself no matter how they tried.

This attitude is why I stopped giving away software I wrote. (In this case, audio drivers.) You give people something that they do not have the skills to write themselves, and that nobody else is willing to make for them, and you do it for free, and they act like you've failed them in some way. They'll gladly download and use it, upload it to various other sites in violation of the license, and at the same time complain that it doesn't have all the features they want, even when it's working perfectly and, of course, is free.

I now expect people to pay an entry fee before they act entitled.

And, yeah, this leads naturaly to paid mods, at least on consoles. As long as the gatekeeper isn't taking an unreasonably large cut (I'm talking to you Apple) this is probably a good thing. But we're talking about Beth here, so of course they'll ruin it somehow. It's just how they do business. (I really wish I didn't feel that way, but after years of being a Bethesda customer, it's an unavoidable conclusion.)

I mentioned this before, maybe on another thread, but I see Bethesda not charging for the mods themselves, but forcing Beth.net downloaders to pay a subscription fee, for the stated purpose of providing the curation and security they originally promised to provide anyway.

In their original paid mods scheme with Valve, IIRC Beth/Valve would keep 75% of the revenue and let the mod makers have the remaining 25% of it. Under a subscription service, Beth could just keep all the money and give the MAs nothing.

It's pretty fitting that as soon as Bethesda actively gets their hands on mods everything just goes to hell. First the Paid mods debacle, now this.

    It just Works.

It's interesting how every time Bethsda tries to involve themselves with modding, content creators get fucked over. Is it really *that* hard to get some moderators? Why not just have Pete Hines do it? It's not like he doesn't have the time; all he does is shitpost on Twitter.

*Breathe in* Boi. This is getting out of hand. On /r/fallout, people are pointing out the mod stealers. Seriously, this is getting out of hand, and needs to stop now.

It's such a good opportunity to bury bethesda and their franchises and yet people are struggling to damage control the situation. Shame.

    His response would probably be:

"Not interested in moderating console mods in a post apoc game with talking zombies and mutants"

You can tell from his voice that's extremely disappointed, even at Bethesda. If Bethesda didn't start to get their shit together and actually start to take example from the Nexus, it would only be a matter of time before Gopher begin to hide his mods, too, in protest.

So if people were stealing the Mods for an Interplay/Obsidian game, wouldn't you want to control the situation? People like Bethy y'know.

In case of Interplay or Obsidian maybe if I'd was in charge but bethesda? Like I said, good opportunity to kill their reputation and therefore their profit and therefore the whole bethesda.
Though in Interplay case it's a grey zone, after all they sold Fallout so cheap even bethpeasants bought it.

Just saw a comment that said (paraphrasing): "stealing mods is ok because it's the same as sharing a facebook post."

I weep for this generation. Please stay in school.

An unfortunate backside to our age of information sharing. Of course kids who grow up downloading music and sharing videos and images will have a harder time grasping the finer details of copyright laws. Heck, even I find it hard to always know what's right and wrong in my field - art and graphics design.

This, along with source criticism, are two areas I hope schools start taking more seriously.

    Government schools are the problem.

Also yea just like I thought this whole console mods thing is basically just a repeat of Steam Workshop mods. Nexus mod makers are having their Fallout 4 stuff stolen and put up on bethesda net like Nexus mod makers were having their Skyrim stuff stolen and put up on the Steam Workshop. That issue is years old and I still see "You are not allowed to post this on Steam Workshop or anywhere else" on Skyrim mod pages. I can't wait for bethesda in their eternal idiocy to also try to reintroduce paid mods into this system like it feels like they're primed to do.
