SPOILERS: Hidden Brotherhood of Steel Ending Found

Radaway

First time out of the vault
Firstly, I'm a huge fan of these forums and have loved your insights since my Fallout 2 days.

Found something interesting I thought might interest those among us.

Turns out as some gamers were siphoning through the dialogue audio in this game, they discovered some audio bits that indicate the Brotherhood of Steel...

HAD A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ENDINGF!?! What the hell!

Thoughts?

Well, there is a good chance that it might be restored with a patch in the future, if the audio files are there.

Modders would be here again to fix their stuff.

Shouldn't you be able to depose Maxson from the get-go by pointing out how he violates the Chain that Binds by giving orders to a Knight (i.e. you).

Like, the Codex is a written book and you can make copies, and the whole "how the Elder is deposed" thing is pretty clear and it doesn't involve trial by combat.

I would like a difference with the faction i choose to side with. However becoming a f**king elder is a horrible idea.

TO think that Elder Orgasmo could've been a thing... Jesus, I could've been Leader of the Minutemen, Director of the Railroad, Leader of the Institute and Edler of the BOS on a single playthrough.....

Wow, I'm not surprised because so much of the game wreaks of being rushed.. But damn, what a shame that this got cut.
I hated the BoS in Fallout 4 mostly because of Maxson and his policy on Synths. Being able to take over and change that policy a little would've made the faction much more appealing to me.

Can't wait to see what other cut content pops up.

His policy makes sense to me from the standpoint of the Brotherhood being a "coterie of bug-eyed fanatics that think all pre-war technology belongs to them" as Robert House put it in New Vegas.

Paladin Danse does nothing but support House's evaluation - he just roams around talking to himself about how awesome the Brotherhood is, and fixing his power armor, and no one pays any attention to him.

Thing is those are assumptions made by the outside, and represent very little of the actual brotherhood. Does the Brotherhood of NV really feel like tech fanatics? At first maybe, but I didn't get the feeling they were over the top.

Brotherhood were never about destroying technology, they're not Luddites. They just think anyone who doesn't follow their strict code is too irresponsible to wield it. Later on worship of technology and disdain for those who use technology without understanding it permeated their culture.

If you think taking over would have changed that policy you are horribly mistaken.

Everyone abandoned Lyons ideals of peace years ago, and the BoS reabsorbed the outcasts, who would never accept that.

Even if Danse takes over, he STILL vows to go on a genocidal campaign against The Institute and all their synths.

I think that the idea of tech worship and disdain is from the outsiders who look at the Brotherhood and see an exaggerated evil.

Can you blame them? If they see you carrying a laser rifle they'll take it and leave you defenseless, databases that could contain information that could rebuild civilization are copied and deleted.

One thing that did bother me in New Vegas, is if you bring the Vault 22 plant data to them they reject it because its not weapons technology. Why would they not want it? I don't know it just wasn't explained very well to me.

True, but in heart they're not that bad. The BOS in FO1 were willing to help save the wasteland, if it coincided with their aims.

Because they don't have the space and time to make agricultural societies, also with the fact that they have relied on trading since their beginning.

"Shield yourself from those not bound to you by steel, for they are the blind. Aid them when you can, but lose not sight of yourself"

Hmm, Maxson seems a little bit over the top 'religious' (for the lack of a better word) in his speech over synthetics, them not being born from humans, the institute threatening the sanctity of human life, and so on.
That he feels that the Synethetics are perhaps dangerous technology that need to be controlled and that he is concerned about the development of Artificial Intelligence is one thing, but this feels rather non BOS like to me.
Seems Maxson is still not that far away from Lyons even if he has refocused the BOS' mission of gathering technology again.

I find it crappy writing and rather in tune with Bethesda's misunderstanding about Fallout and somewhat of an obsession of putting in Christian overtones.

Hmm it sounds exactly like Christians on abortion...

So you're saying he sounds like General Barnaky?

I'd say yes, but with a bit of a more melodramatic feel.
