The Aston Martin looks nice, but this

is just crap. What is that? A toy?

I don't like fancy-looking sportcars that try to emulate the look of jumbo jets. Nor do I, for that case, like any convertables. Bloody useless in Holland, those things.

I think the Celica looks better than any of those sport cars, as does the Avensis.

Avensis:

Nice and plain, but if you want a little fancier, the Celica can do that:

And if you want it to be an ugly toy car like most of those mentioned above, it can do that to:

Oooh, ugly

You do realize that in about 10 years the celica will just be a sporty japanese shitbox while the exotic sports care will be considered classics and may even go up in value.

Yes, but in 10 years the Celica will still be purring like a cat, whereas the "classic sports car" will need heavy maintenance every month just to not blow up

My dad's car is a Toyota Corolla from 1985. It still runs better than a lot of new cars. The thing's a beaut, and you can easily get anywhere between 13 and 18 km to the liter.

Bloody American sports cars...

Or, if I was looking at a more affordable care, the chevy corvette stingray, as you can get one from 15-20 grand us. Drools

Uh, Karn, that last Celica pic that you called a toy car, it's not a toy car. It's a nitro-powered radio control car. More sophisticated than any toy car.

Judging from the body, it seems to be a HPI r/c car. Check out their website at http://www.hpiracing.com/index2.htm and see for yourself.

Still, it is a toy car, just as any other tuned up four-wheeled box.

Cars are for wussies.

BIKE PUNX!

Why does everything have to be a financial investment?

If I had been a car buyer in '64 I damned sure wouldn't have bought a Pontiac GTO w/389 tri-power just to use it as a 3,000+ pound paperweight. I'd have bought it to drive it, just like most people did, which is why so few of them survived in pristine shape.

Besides, in ten years no car is considered a "classic", unless there's some radical shift in the automotive industry that makes these things relics of a by-gone era in the meantime. Twenty years is a different story. But if you're looking for an investment, isn't there something better you can think to do than sink hundreds of thousands into than a converstion piece for your garage?

Fair enough OTB.

But it is interesting that a lot of people are still thinking about the money issue even though "money is not an issue."

Me, I think the Aston Martin is still the way to go.

I've never gotten what is so good about the astin martins, apart from the fact they are in bond films. Anyone care to extrapolate on the issue?

They have five wheels. Yes, you may think to yourself, "Five wheels?!?!, but where?"

Well, they hide the fifth wheel under the gas tank, which in turn makes the car go faster then the speed of light. This is why JB himself bumps fuzzies in the spacious, leather interiors of an Aston Martin.

Mohrg

Sorry, its just that collectors get my goat. People seem to forget to live life and instead settle for vast amounts of brick-a-brack.

Yes, but what other reason is there to own any of these cars? Unless you live in Montana or certain jurisdictions in Europe there really is no indulging in what they are allegedly built for, unless you're hell-bent on loosing your license, of course. So that leaves conspicious consumption.

New mustangs=garbage. They're the kind of car that like rich kids get for their 16th birthday or something. They're not very good cars, and they just result in those stupid ghetto conversions that i see all the time on the turnpike. Near where I live, its like a tradition that every weekend, these retards come to the pike, and race their cars. Its so dumb. you wasted money on stupid conversions for your already bad car. congratulations.

Shows what I get for only reading the second page of a thread....

BTW King, have you even driven the "new" Mustang?

*Breaks out into the Mustang Sally song*

Yeah. There wasn't anything special about the ones I've driven at all. I just don't see what's so impressive about them. Not to mention that they're Ford. I've had wicked bad experiences with Ford. But if you like them so much, that's good, cause they're not that expensive and easily attainable. As opposed to the Aston Martin that I want
