Strange arguments you had with other Fallout fans?

The other day I got into a rather inane discussion with a new Fallout fan. Our discussion revolved around energy weapons specifically the laser variants in Fallout 4.

Now I know we here have debated about the logic behind laser weapons and how silly it is that they have recoil. However considering I was at a bar drinking fairly heavily I opted to humor my fellow patron. The individual who will of course remain unnamed based their argument that laser based weapons would realistically have some kind of recoil or "thrust" as they described it.

After letting them finish their opening statement I began mine with the inherent facts of physics, specifically that a photon "light" does not have mass, and therefore cannot produce thrust in such a fashion to allow a pronounced recoil similar to other firearms.

They rebuked this with the solar sail concept, and went on a tirade about how photons can interact with mass. Which I of course must concede is correct. My counter point that such an effect would only apply over a long period of time in a vacuum and when I cited the energy based weapon systems we have today, plus my experience with them on how they do not produce any such recoil they began to become upset.

Bear in mind during this discourse I was not confrontational nor condescending...

While I was making my point that an earth based laser weapon system would not produce any pronounced, obvious, nor detectable "recoil". This individual opted to not only pour their drink on myself and a fine individual next to me who was minding their own business. But proceeded with an attempt to become physically violent. While I do understand that this situation did occur at a drinking establishment I still feel that there was an insufficient catalyst to support such a result.

Needless to say they were informed that they had to leave the establishment, sadly however they did not feel that they were finished. Once the location's bouncers interceded a whole new situation developed and the front of the bar erupted into a small drunken brawl, with the bouncer doing their profession a great deal of honor as they forcibly removed the upset patron. As the struggle "dragged on" the drunken debater continued to not only debate the laser weapon recoil topic by themselves, but also announce to everyone at the location their assumed sexual preferences of the bouncer forcing them off the property.

Unfortunately the police were eventually called because the disgruntled debater began to make some rather tasteless comments and threats against anyone in view. Once the patrol car arrived the angry debater threw a a poorly aimed haymaker at the bouncer which thankfully failed to connect and began to run.

From that moment the police officers began a chase for running debater, leading to a rather humorous chase around the location as they would circle back to hurl additional insults at the bouncer.

They were eventually seized and taken away, but I must admit that it was very entertaining.

It was a bar. What else did you expect? Civilized discussion?

Not really, however I was not expecting the discussion to escalate so quickly. I'm a regular at the location and I have had a few conversations with the individual in the past. Perhaps a personal issue was on their mind? Who is to say?

Booze and Fallout does not seem mix though.

I need more moments like this in my life.

- Some guy: "I mean, I have to agree. Witcher 3's quests actually do result in different outcomes later in the game. Quite unlike New Vegas."
- Me: "Really? Some extrapolation may be necessary for the latter portion of your comment."
- Some guy: "See. This is the kind of thing that irks people about Fallout New Vegas fanboys. ALL your choices do, LITERALLY ALL, is change the ending slides you get and the narration. Congrats. This is literally the same thing choices do in Fallout 3. Literally♥♥♥♥♥♥ The only difference is you can get more sets of slides than in Fallout 3. The story is as stale as it is in FO3 and FO4. If it wasn't Daddy Obsidian, most of the hardcore fans would say "Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Bethesda game".

This is why people attack you. You REFUSE to admit the story is as weak as Bethesda's entries and REFUSE to admit that the ending is lackluster. Because if you admit it, you admit that most of your arguments were, and always have been, rooted in pure nostalgia and nothing more."
- Me: "It's not often that I send someone into a blusterous tyrade with a single statement. Thanks for the laugh."

Huh, the only choices I can remember for Fallout 3 is "Do I go in there and switch on the machine that will kill me or be sensible and get someone else to do it and maybe poisoning the water with FEV while I'm at it?"

Funny how he called you a fanboy though.

Straight from the nexus, I just can't take people like this seriously. It was about alien blaster being able to use microfusion cells:

Him:Totally lore friendly too, this is possible in Fallout 4!

Me:>Lore Friendly
>Fallout 4
You can choose one, not the two at the same time.
Also, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Alien_blaster_(Fallout)

Him:Watch the tone, friend. You can feel free to dislike Fallout 4, but if you act rude toward me, I *will* report you for it. Telling me to "pick one" is rather insulting. Fallout 4 is officially canon, and my saying as much is not wrong and not your business.

Me:Wow, jumping to conclusions fast are we? Report, huh, pathetic. So I disagree with you and your first instict is to threaten me, how lovely. Besides, when did I act rude? Unless you mean, that I disagree with you, with Fallout 4 being lore friendly. The only thing insulting here is your altitude, just because Fallout 4 and 3 are canon, because bugthesda said so, does not really mean anything.

Here, let me give you an example: Remember, billy? The ghoul kid, who spent 200 years in a fridge all by himself? That is not lore breaking at all, so what if Necropolis ghouls die, if you take the water chip, oh, billy the ghoul survived just fine on his own. Or aliens starting the great war? Or Kabot house with immortal idiots and jesus' blood?

You are free to think whatever you want, my friend. However, just because bugthesda owns the franchise, does not make it right suddenly. But go on, play your game, I won't judge you. I will simply ignore you, just like the rest of the people think that Fallout 3 and 4 are good. Everybody has a right to their own opinion, that does not mean, they are right. Besides a quote from creator of Fallout:

"My idea is to explore more of the world and more of the ethics of a post-nuclear world, not to make a better plasma gun." - Tim Cain

Also have some videos, to educate yourself with:

Edit, I actually got reported, holy shit, bugthesda fanboys are nasty as hell. flaming -- "You are free to think whatever you want, my friend. This is flaming, seriously?
