Tattoo (and piercings) Thread

So what? Perfectly reasonable and sane people are boring. :smug:

Yep, everyone would love to have this asshole as their father, because he's so hip and cool looking, not to mention total whacked.

you can usually form a fairly accurate idea about a persons personality by how they dress themselves.
No you can't, that's just stupid.

Well if someone has a Nazi t-shirt a bald head and a "Kill all jews" tattoo you can easily deduce what kind of person they are.

I'm very fond of you, Brother. I am mostly in agreement.

You seem to be fully in agreement, really.

I think some snobbishness is in order with tattoos. It's a bit too permanent and too commonly done badly to really appreciate the decision to go for a cheap tattoo shack.

My new GF (haha I know I can't believe it either) is straight out of Katawa Shoujo. Scars all over her body from various surgeries. So I asked her about her only tatoo (a crescent moon on her shoulderblade) and she said she got it because she wanted at least one mark on her skin that she decided on her own to have. I thought that was cute.

That is kind of cool. As in, I understand the logic and can appreciate why it's important to her. I do always appreciate tattoos with stories better.

Also Katawa Shoujo

That's a pretty extreme example.

Thing is, from my perspective, with people who dress oddly or have very visible tattoos, unless they're expressing an ideology, all you can really tell is they have a strong need to express themselves. I don't agree with Phil that you can then just figure out what they're trying to express without any further knowledge. It's usually complex, and jumping to assumptions is not a good idea.

Sure you can, you do it yourself whether you're consciously aware of it or not. Everyone does. There are exceptions to the rule, but the way you dress and present yourself tends to reveal a lot about you.

How many tatted up and heavily pierced individuals do you know with that grating "fuck the world" philosophy and faux edgy attitude? The number is probably not insignificant.

Say what you will, Manson's anything but boring, and not because of any ink either. His interviews are gold Jerry.

The tattoo thing has lost it's way now since all the squares have tattoos. Jeez, went to Six Flags and saw so many fat, ugly people with tacky, tacky tattoos. Nothing like seeing a sweaty, 200lb+ porker in a tank top with the angel wings tat. High class, that.

Let's clean it up 'murica, first, mandatory sterilization for anyone with a NASCAR tattoo, others to follow...
