The French language is a hoax!

Didn't get along with it in school. Then again, my whole foreign linguistic education was somewhat annoying, probs due to my school insisting that we studied Latin at the age of 11...

I like the sound of French and some of the expressions. But they use too many letters used to describe relatively simple sounds. Therefore it's pretentious.

Really. Its ok I think. I mean you have to look at it that way. It could be way worse. Imagine youre in a marriage and after your 50th anniversary your wife tells you "honey, I am sorry to tell you but I was a male before we meet each other".

Lots of silent letters and endings to words. Still, it's more consistent and logical than English spelling vs pronunciation which really makes no sense when you think about it.

French bugs the crap out of me because they proncounce everything like it's one long word. Then for strings of words they stress the last syllable to distinguish words, but there's no pause. And then they have trouble understanding foreign speakers because of that, and they have trouble learning to speak and understand a foreign language too. Assholes.

I have a genetic disorder that forces me to wage war against France to get back Elsass-Lothringen or just because they're there.
A little like Denmark and Sweden.

I love the French as well.

Recently downloaded a radio mod for Silent Hunter 5 with tons of WWII era music, the best is the french station.

I love those times when you are exposed to something new for the first time and just cant get enough of it. (heroin?)

Anyway, the french made some great music back then.

Aye, the english-speaking people I know all tell me French is a bitch to learn, and they mostly live in Montreal and so they are immersed most of the time to boot. Spanish is supposedly much easier, even if I personally could never learn more than ''cuando se come aquì'' for the life of me.

English is just so convenient. Straight to the point. You can often tell in one english word what requires 3-4 French words, and English words are usually half as long too. That's why in Quebec and even a little in France it's pretty common to put random English words in sentences (like ''check'' instead of ''vérifier'') and nobody really cares but annoying language purists and hard-line independantists here.

Anyway, that's certainly a line taken out of context. Sarkozy is a staunch defender of French identity if there ever was one.

What

Also, I'm french but don't really like my language. It usually sounds... snob.
I prefer english, italian, chinese...

Also, it's one of the less tonic languages I heard. We are one of the only people who really don't know where the tonic accent is on a word.
And then when we have to learn a language with a tonic accent, we have a hard time.

(Edit : Thanks to wikipedia, I now know "tonic accent" is called "stress" in english, feel free to replace it)

A french boy who d´ont like his own language that´s really rare to find, are you sure...?

When I was the first time in France (Provence) it was in the mid seventies I was a 15 year old boy without any knowledge of french speaking...then I stayed for more than 3 years, later on for another 3 years.
Today I travel two times a year dirtbike riding and getting myself relaxing

Now you can imagine how I love this country.

Still makes more sense than Dutch...think about it...
overuse of 'd' 'j' 'i' and 'k' anyone?

Ugly John! Hug!

Also Dutch is the only language in why "ij" is the equivalent of "y"

Also gravedig much?

I'm brazilian and learned french in my youth, love the language.

Plus, they have Eva Green, so it's not all that bad, hun? ;)
