that would depend on what kind of 1911 it is... good 1911's are pretty expensive tbh...

there are a lot cheaper guns that are actually quite good (and hence have better bang for buck)

Yeah but 1911's are worth the extra $. I got a great one for 550 - not too bad.

I think I'm pretty sold on that Taurus Judge in the event of zombies. Put some 000 buckshot in that thing and ruin a zombies day.....and face. but mostly day.

Maybe I'm thinking in terms of cowboy action loads, but I thought the .45 LC was a tad on the anemic side.

Yeah, .45 longcolt as a cowboy load is fairly weak on purpose, so you don't blow up an old gun or shoot through the targets in a competition.

However, there are plenty of .45 longcolt rounds made for hunting and such that pack plenty of punch. Cor-bon makes a self-defense load for .45 longcolt that uses a 200 grain jacketed hollowpoint with about twice the stopping power of an .45 acp round. They also make +P and magnum loads for .45 longcolt up to and including a 300 grain hollowpoint round.

(Note: High performance loads for .45 longcolt should only be used in guns that can handle the pressure)

Alsoplustoo - anything that can shoot a .410 round can handle a .45 longcolt round - but not always the other way around.

I want one of those Thompson single shot pistols, and get a barrel that shoots .22 LR or .17 HMR or something, and a barrel that shoots .454 Casull. That would be sweet.

I have some unidentifiable rifle. IIRC, it might be WWII era, but I'm not really sure because of all the wear and tear. My uncle-in-law has a pond on his property, and one day, while cleaning it out, he happened upon it. Because my husband and I are the only ones really interested in weaponry, he gave it to us. While it's still in one piece, to be honest, it is beyond any hope of repair. It is... simply a nice oddity.

As far as weaponry goes, I prefer the machete and crowbar we have in our trunk, the collector's knife we have around here somewhere, and our scythes we have in our shed.

Does it have any identifying markings on it?

Can you take a picture of it and show us?

I have no clue whatsoever where my camera is, or if it even works for that matter, and only a vague idea where the gun is. As to identifyable markings, I only saw it briefly (and it was too icky to touch).

I'll see if I can't sketch it of it this weekend (when I'll actually be able to look in the shed... the lock is sticking on it, and I can't get it open without my husband's help... another thing to add to the to-do list).

You don't think someone killed someone with that rifle and decided to drop it in the pond for safekeeping, do you?

You know, if someone does break into your house, you and your husband can dress in black robes and use those scythes for some wicked fun.

Add a few lights and you get-

I was at a shooting range yesterday. Unbeknownst to me, there was a contest going on and I had entered just by paying for shooting range time.

I was shooting one of those hostage, perp targets. I put 4 of six bullets from my friend's Korth into the perp's head the other two were above the perp's head by an inch and a half. These were the first two shots I did getting a feel for the Korth.

When I emptied all six chambers, the officer conducting the contest. Congratulated me and said I had won second place. My prize was a brand new .9mm Glock 17. I don't much like .9mm but I kept it anyway and bought hollow point bullets for it. The grand prize was a Desert Eagle .50... I wish I had won that one instead. If I had I would've sent it to have it matte black painted. I hate shiny pistols.

".9mm"? dont make me come overthere and kick your ass...

also, a desert eagle in .50 AE seems good for one thing in my eyes: selling. it's a freaking penis enhancer, nothing else...

anyhow, congrats on the Glock 17. it's a fine pistol (well, except for the first series ever made, but the others are fine).

Ever shot a desert eagle? Its a beautiful thing. Yea everyone sees it as a big fucking gun and a loud jack ass, but damn I've never shot anything that felt like that. Nothing that would put a hole where ever I pointed it like that big 50. It was like silk and floated down and turned into a gun. Damn I love the desert eagle.

Congrats on the glock! Great win for not know you were competing.

Could be, but they must've forgotten about it (as my uncle-in-law doesn't live in the greatest of areas). I can only assume it was once shiny black and glossy brown, but, IIRC, it's mostly rust-brown, slime green, and waterlogged black.

Don't think I hadn't thought about it.

you're free to like whatever you want, but that doesn't mean i'm supposed to like it.

no, you can have your DE .50 AE, your .500 S&W or even your .600 NE contender. for most europeans those are simply penis enhancers for insecure people...

PS: no, i've never shot a .50 AE. i've shot the .44 though. that should be more than enough. and really, it wasn't all that special.

I've been toying with the idea of buying the .357 version. Its not so much for me that its a big friggin gun, so much as it felt fantastic to shoot. Until I shot it I also thought it was as you call it a penis enhancer. To each their own I guess. I admit I don't have the opportunity shoot a lot of pistols, might just have been I was given a gun of a higher quality than I'd ever shot before.

Mmmmm finally had a chance to check out my new Glock. It shoots sweet and I can fire rather quickly without spreading too much. The main problem I have with 9mm is that they don't do enough damage. One of my Girlfriend's cousin who was a cop was killed by a 365lb asshole. The asshole was hit more than 10 times but was still able to beat my GF's cousin to death with his bare hands. Backup arrived before the asshole could get away they had to shotgun him twice to finally bring him down. Turns out the 9mm slugs hit only fat. The asshole was like 5'5" and 365 lbs so he was very well protected by his own fat.
