That one myth were getting shot in the shoulder or the leg isn't life threatening it just hurts a lot. Bah, theres ain't no organs there just blood veins n' muscles what is the worsts that could happen!?! But the best shit ever is Fuddlore. The stupid shit Fudds come up with is hilarious.
 
Having a normal conversation while under fire (and returning fire), ranks up there with the biggest nonsense in movies as far as I'm concerned.

If you want to see movies with proper portrayal of gun fights, look up some Michael Mann movies. HEAT is legendary, and with good reason.
 
Yeah, people often mention that firing guns particularly indoors doesn't really work like it does in the movies. Particularly when you see them doing it inside cars. Without any kind of ear protection.

However, it does make me wonder when I see images from WW2, which had a few very intense battles inside of cities, like Stalingrad. I mean, people had no protection at all in that time so I imagine that they must have really suffered a hell of issues. If I remember correctly, one of the most common injuries during WW2, was injuries to the vision. When ever people had shoots fired at them, it wasn't rare that all kinds of stuff would fly around, debriss from nearby hits would hit the face, get inside the eyes and hurt people.

I thought Black Hawk Down is the one that is even more realistic. The injuries are more gruesome etc. Still US military propaganda though.

When I shoot indoors, it's with both ear plugs AND earmuffs.

Hearing damage was super common (obviously also from artillery, not just small arms). However, there were some measures people took to get rudimentary protection: wax balls, empty 9x19mm/.32ACP/7.62Tok casings or cotton balls. It wasn't something you were issued however.

A fun movie, but very one sided. The history is more interesting when you view it from the perspective of the locals or of the UN blue helmets.

It’s been a while....



A point with regard to the video- that is a Brownells AR15 proto upper on a FA lower. It has no deflector and I shoot left handed. My hearing protection is acting as the shell deflector.

Brother long time no see. I will have a REALLY COOL gun to show off if I can get it off the guy before he dies from Cancer. He bought it from my Dad years ago. Fingers crossed.

I bought the Ar15 proto and AR10 as rifles.
I bought 3x 601 style lowers. I bought a 601 upper and built it on one of the lowers saving $200.
The 605 was made similarly but with a PSA midlength dissipator barrel. The muzzle deviChe is not pinned. That one also has an old aluminum buttstock.

The 601 super shorty is my own creation- made from brownells and PSA parts.

It's not exactly like that iirc, but I have yet to see it. I will for sure upload pics as soon as I have it on hand. My uncle already tried to get me to trade Dad's old AR, after he said "That was my AR" - I bet he regrets that now.

Besides....already own one of them AR's. Speaking of which...what is the best way to hang one of these on a wall? As in what racks do you prefer from what vendor? I never had to worry about such concerns. Willing to bet my Dad used Cabela's.

I don't have a wall safe. Damn floors would fall through with the one my Father-in-law owns. Plus I want to show it off.
 
I have no preference for racks- just something that won’t scratch it.

That really cool that you are getting a sharps. The quigly models are nice but it’s really hard to find ammo in any caliber besides 45/70. (45-90, 45-110 have to be hand loaded or special ordered and even the cases are not common)

Yeah, it will never be fired, so that won't be a big issue. Good to see you again. Make sure you check back in the upcoming weeks. Not for certain how long it will be before I can get it.
 
Is it an original? If not, you can easily fire it. If it’s an original, you can fire it with BP loads or modern smokeless powder loaded to cowboy specs. I do that all the time in my BP pistols (smokeless in cartridges rather than loose BP and percussion caps)

I'm not sure actually. It has been 15 years since I saw it, and I was young then. I just don't want to risk messing it up tbh. I know it is unlikely to happen but I can't risk it.
