The Halo thread

My hope had been that some of the later additions and features of the series had been added to this remake, gameplay like being able to hijack vehicles, double yielding of certain weapons, carrying turret weapons, and other stuff like the weapons of the later games and the prequel.
Ok, remember that Fallout:Anniversary example? Try this:It now has every weapon from Fallout 2,3 and new Vegas.Oh and Hardcore mode! That would be just great?!? No it would not would it?

Actualy a remastered Remake with new mechanics and more gear would be the optimal thing to do if you ever want to remake an old game, not rehash it exactly as it was but prettier. That is just a waste of a DVD and budget.

Funny, some of your reactions remind me of the Bethesda fans vs original Fallout fans interaction

Bullshit. This is better than I remember!

Call it what you want, I have been playing FPS games for quite some time, probably longer than you did, and even at the time the Halo SP campaign was average in general.

The general problem was the repetitiveness of levels and of course the damn re use of a particular one.
Even gamers at the time mentioned that in posts and reviews.
And FPS games at the time were already capable of more.

Show it to people now and they wonder what honestly the hype was about.

Wrong example as a Fallout remake would not work like this.
A better example would be Half Life vs Half Life Source, and HL Source does improve in many ways.
Also this is baiting.

See the above example. Now,as for it costing too much, well, marketing people saw a good opertunity to earn more money, plain and simple.

And as the poster above me mentioned, they could as well have released the original in some new box with extra maps and call it Anniversary addition as the budget in general was rather wasted.

I think you should take off the nostalgia glasses and have a good look CEA and the other games in the series (outside Wars of course), especially in what they added to make for a better and more enjoyable gameplay.

Halo CE has always been a bit of a basic shooter and it stands out even more today.
As Walknut wrote, the new mechanics and gear would have made this a more interesting experience.

Agreed on the basis of MGS Twin Snakes

The irony is not lost on me. One of my friends thought that Halo:CE should have just stay away and let the people who played it remember it like it was. Sound familar?

No argument here. Halo:CE was my first FPS. Never played the ones that came before. Probably would not like them all that much. I have to say:I am a little sad about that. PS:In case you are wondering what happened to my nostalgia glasses, the flood happend. I as much as I enjoy the first half,I always hated the second half.(The Library mostly.)
And as the poster above me mentioned, they could as well have released the original in some new box with extra maps and call it Anniversary addition as the budget in general was rather wasted.
It was made in one year, it did not have that much of a budget.(in fact, most of of it probibly went into the teminals, that hint to whats comming for Halo 4.)
As Walknut wrote, the new mechanics and gear would have made this a more interesting experience.
Not by much, once you hit the Library, no new gear or mechanics could make it interesting. As you said, and I quote:
The general problem was the repetitiveness of levels and of course the damn re use of a particular one.
Even gamers at the time mentioned that in posts and reviews.
New weapons would make this suck less, but not much else.

Halo started as a cheap UT ripoff, and ended up killing fun in MP FPS as I knew it when I was growing up.

This. Also, it was the frat boy's choice of game ("Durr...I'm a n3Rd cuz i play halo") when I was in college, so I've never been interested in it.

Edit: Baby seal? Eh?

Ok, after some serious playing I think I found the Halo 4 hint if anyone is interested This was found on the last level. (The Maw.) He talks about the Prometheans and the Librarian.(Who is suppost to be dead mind you. Last time I checked.) What do you think?
