The Legion Returning?

Minimal? I'd love to see tons of radiation! Make it dangerous again.

Radiation wasn´t common in the original games and located in only specific places. And since fallout is about the survival of humanity after a nuclear war, a setting in a completly radioactive wasteland wouldn´t be ideal.

Wow. I originally thought from looking at the title that Bethesda was going to handle writing the Legion themselves. Fuck no. Drunk fanfiction would be more coherent.

Pockets of clean areas, underground facilities and the like could still allow space for safe places.

Yeah, go on. The legion should be in another title... so there will be more ways to kill and undo them just as it was in New Vegas, ha ha!

Hopefully a game set in Legion territory would be set after Caesar's death so that we can see the Legion in the light of peace-keepers or as a necessary evil in a world without rules.
That would be a creative way to fuck with players as well, people avoid working for Legion because they were 'the bad guys' in New Vegas, only to find that they got an awful ending for siding with an opposing faction which didn't have the ability to bring order that the Legion had.

After Caesar's death, imagine if a more reasonable emperor takes place, guy that has other values, believes in hardcore democracy and all that. But since the Legion is dying because Caesar is dead, we have this civil war going on because Legionaries that had power (like, the representants of Caesar in some settlements) thinks that this new emperor is full of crap, and claim that they are the true followers of Caesar.

Some settlements thinks that the new emperor is nice and support him, others support the rebel Legion, some want full independence from all this crap and maybe we could even bring NCR to the table.

But here is the trick, imagine if NCR has failed big time, its all corrupt and full of mafias to the point its really a dictatorship of those who hold economical power, so then we would have the Legion with old values, Legion with new values, NCR dictatorship or a full independent region, that could be a new possible faction to be born, with different values from all the others, like some hardcore communist idea!

The independent faction could be a more "under the radar" thing at first, that would be building up as the plot progress with all the political disputes and shit throwing betwen these big factions.

Let's just give them a civil war okay? We can hive different type of Legion governments and a conflict.
Of course. I'm just saying A faction of the Legion being a direct democracy during a Civil War would be pretty unlikely to produce very many results. Maybe if the story was there were multiple different Legion offshoot factions you could join(Pro-Old School Legion; A faction that wants to be a part of the NCR, an Independent faction that you could control as Imperator yourself) and using good ole fashion tribal warfare assimilate the other weaker factions until you and the other strongest factions duke it out. The weak democracy could be the first ones you take out since they haven't been able to get as strong and stable as the others. Could even use speech to convince voters and defeat democracy by using it to vote your faction into power.

Maybe have the idea of beginning in power as a kind of officer, diplomat or spy. Stuff like that could be interesting, and it would tons of features.

Yea, your role would depend on who you side with like in New Vegas. With the NCR or Legion in NV you're just a very effective third-party helper, House you're a loyal employee, and with Wild Card you're the friggin' King baby! Same kinda set up with the hypothetical Legion factions.

Perhaps something similar to the Fall of Rome,
Caesar dies an a new leader is enacted, He is weaker than Caesar and the legion soon begin to lose their savage bloodthirsty edge and begin renting out land in return for mercs from the tribes. And then it snowballs like Rome did as the less land they have the less income the more mercs they need the more land they have to rent out.

Would be fun too see the Legion on the brink of collapse and perhaps bring it back or join the tribes and Sack the fort.

I would imagine a game set in Legion territory after the death of Caesar would be about "who should rule the Legion" which would probably break the legion into factions that support each contender. There's a few good choices from New Vegas (assuming that Caesar bites it shortly after NV, due to the brain tumor say) like Lanius, Joshua Graham, Ulysses, and Vulpes.

I can see Vulpes rising to the top in some way. He seems like the Reinhardt Heydrich of the Legion. Lanius would stand in his way though, and Lanius doesn't seem like the kind of guy you can just simply assassinate.

One idea I had was that, similar to Van Buren, Hoover Dam becomes a trading town of some kind, most likely under the NCR (although an independent Vegas Hoover Dam might work too). I figured that maybe a weakened Legion, possibly with Lanius killed, might sue for peace. Then we would have a strange period where the NCR and Legion actually become trading partners of some kind, with Hoover Dam becoming a Hub-style bridge.

Hell, if independent Vegas happens and both NCR and Legion get their asses kicked, it would make sense that both would want to sue for peace as I can't see either trying to do any more empire building anytime soon.

I hope vulpes deserts the legion only to create the Wolf-Hat Empire

Considering the popularity of Legion "shipping" I'm astounded by the lack of Legion mods. Then again, I guess shipping of any character is covered by sex mods so...
