The official "Where we review Mass Effect: Andromeda" thread *spoilers*

But no, that thing needs a 'human' element again fighting super evil to save the poor.
It's the standard Bioware formula at this point. Always an ancient evil that needs fighting rather than anything substantial. I think it was Inquisition that started the shift towards stories with ancient evils (since Dragon Age 2 did not and was lambasted for this among other reasons).

Started with ME, actually. DA2 was one that broke off from the trend.

Ah. I stand corrected. Though at least in ME 1, it did not feel so... formulaic and by the book (or not as bad as it is now). Funny how one of Bioware's less popular games actually tried something different to their formula, shame it's failure caused them to double-down on their formula now.

In this case, the Kett are just a bunch of alien invaders. Which isn't so bad.

EDIT: This is bad. No one should be expected to pay $60 for this.

A lot of what I've seen of the dialog (from clips, I don't own the game... nor will I... ever) sounds as if written by people who think "this is the way people converse in real life" but haven't got much experience on it themselves. Who actually says "my face is tired"...?

Addison is kind of peculiar in that she's the ONLY character who looks like that.

Of course, she's an enormous [insert expletive] and the Scrappy EVERY player hates.

Not because of her animation, or at least exclusively, but because she's like someone combined Udina with that reporter.

And there's no Renegade option to punch her.

If you had the choice to punch everyone, Andromeda would instantly become a better game.

I think people should go with the Fallout 1-2/STALKER approach to communicating.

Someone you don't like?

Shoot them in the face.

Sure there's consequences, but you've gotten rid of the bastard.

Meh, can't do that to many children would complain that they can't complete a quest anymore because they shoot the quest giver in the face.

STALKER did a good job on that regard, shooting people usually reduces your available support/info/rewards, but you can still get the quest from "PDA" on their corpse.

Fallout on the otherhand, much more...Adult in its quest giving, of course, shooting poeple voids those quests.

It's a rehash of the reapers, though. Replace Sovereign with Archon and you've got the original trilogy set up all over again. Don't get me wrong, the Kett are interesting individually but they should have been a one and done deal.

The game was like a blend of TFA and Rogue One. Super safe on the story and constantly dropping references to the original trilogies.

-Member Cerberus?
-Member Garrus Vakarian?
-Member Zaeed Massani?
-Member the Citadel?
-Member Liara?
-Member Saren?
-Member Shephard?

Why move the setting 600 years into the future if you're going to basically just rehash the original trilogy?

gotta ask, did this have to be open world?

Im slowly grinding through it but there's only so much I can take. I like the game for sure but it can feel tiring at times.

I would normally do a planet to completion then focus on just talking to companions, crafting upgrades, researching, and visiting the Nexus to wrap up quests and check in with vendors. It's a nice intermission before embarking to the next planet.

But you're right, each planet starts to feel like a total slog. Especially when a lot of the task quests involve driving aimlessly around the map looking for obscure datapads in order to complete a quest.

I am starting to miss the more structured ME 1-3. I might give them another go eventually but probably cheat and give myself infinite paragon points just so I have a bit of wriggle room.

I will say that's the worst part of the game and the only part which feels like Dragon Age: Inquisition to me. However, at least in Andromeda you have a Mako/Nomad.
