The truth...

Gentlemen,

I have been contacted by a current employee at Interplay in regards to this matter and have been asked to put the record straight. No, it was not a lawyer. :)

I was informed that the FOBOS team did indeed speak with BIS in regard to the console version of Fallout. Apparently this happened at a time that I was not aware of. Since neither myself nor my team members were management personnel, we were not made aware of this. I can accept that. There is, and must be, a chain of command in a company.

I have no reason to believe that I am being lied to in this regard. Therefore, I retract my statement, apologize to the fans who are reading this board, and, most importantly, I apologize to the FOBOS team.

I was wrong, and I am not afraid to admit it. Please forgive my transgression.

Don't let this keep you silent though, its good to hear whats on the developers minds who tour the board. I find it strange all the same that if they did speak with the BIS department, that so few of the BIS members got to put much input into what was going on, seeing as Fallout is pretty much their product.

But still, they [the POS team] did exagerate this out of context; They went from "chatted with Black Isle Studios personel a bit" to "whom we consult and work alongside with" and other suggestive bullshit that claimed thet they all worked together on $:POS, when in fact they didn't.

I just want to let everyone know that I'm more than happy to post on the forums and add my opinions to things or answer questions. I'm just not at liberty to say anything more on this subject. :)

I'll be in the background always. If you want to contact me, feel free to.

I've had some interviews but this is a bad time of year to look for work. Most places have been closed down for the holidays for the past two weeks. Now that the holidays are over I expect things to improve.

Otherwise, I'm actually putting the time to good use. I'm continuing my education by trying to learn 3DS Max. I'm having fun with it and I'm sure the skills I learn will improve my prospects for finding work. :)

Good luck Mr. Deiley, you have great talent and I hope you find a company that will treat you as you deserve.

...does this mister Deiley´s denial of his foregoing claims have something to do with some kind fine printed paragraph in his employment contract? Something like:
You shtfck up about ouir internal cock fencing contests, dirt, little scandals, sexual relations, brown-nosing and above all about the development of Fallout: Brotherhood of Masturbation or we will sue you and spank you with a big bad stirrer!

...or am I just paranoid?

^ I'd say yes.

John, you likely don't know me but I'm a SuperMod at IPLY and a shareholder. I've watched a few BIS folks that I was friends with leave. I have a couple that are still at IPLY and I know of more than a few instances where people have been censured since this shit happened on 12/08.

You know we love you guys. Just wish we could do more than say it.

Later the same guy said "wait wait wait, I believe I have it confused with the BG:DA2", but I bet FOPOS will have BIS logo on it anyway.

Most companies have such clauses, and development houses especially. It makes sense and such. In fact, I've been surprised at how frank some of the former BIS people have been (:ok: to you guys), but then again, that's the miracle of internet.

Well, it seems I was wrong. There were a couple of individuals in the former BIS division who were consulted, somewhat, about FOBOS. I was wrong to lash out like that, but understand my frustration with the situation and the fact I’m very passionate about games and the work I create.

I apologize to Dan Kingdom and the FOBOS team about lashing out in public.

I'll admit when I'm wrong, and I was in this case.

So...Who?

I won't say. I'm done with the subject. I made my statement and want to move on. It's not healthy to let this fester.

Hmmm, this smells unhealthy enough as it is, and you know it.

But I will respect your wishes and not push the subject, and I hope everyone else (insert brief glare) will do the same

I smell bullshit coming from the direction of interplay.....
it made me sad today to see the latest issue of PCGamer UK have a 'what to look forward to in 2004' feature and they talk about Fallout 3 and how Fallout is a greatly influencial RPG series. Obviously it went to press before Interplay decided to start sodomising the fallout corpse again.

Well all is not lost, it all depends on IPLYs wish to earn some money and not being greedy (can you understand that word HERVE ???)..

This news bit was edited due since Damien felt it was wrong and also it reflected wrongly upon him..

Still...we...know...all......

Ok, this makes me somewhere between irked and confused.

How the bloody hell do you go from being all systems go to killing a project this fast? It takes what, 3-4 months for a magazine to publish a story after they get the info? How did Fudgepacker Caen get it in his head to hit the kill switch when it was obvious they were banking on this, I mean lining his pockets is one thing, but something is just not adding up correctly.

(or maybe I missed a post explaining this, or possibly memory loss/brain damage from the holiday, in which case ignore me and carry on :? )
