The writing is beyond abysmal and the first hint of this is the introduction

Battlecross was banned? Why?

Also I was actually surprised and really glad that the Fallout 4 intro was at least shorter. It doesn't help that the whole thing feels EXTREMELY forced but oh well.

Good Gosh, has it really become so bad that [developer opinion of] the bulk of the audience cannot focus/or retain the concepts of a five minute intro that explains the world setting? That is troublesome on many levels.

Fallout's intro was a little over five minutes, and is the best one in the series; and it sets the mood superbly.

(And the game is an enigma if you don't watch the intro.)

The voice acting by the Overseer in that intro is unfortunately better than the BEST dialogue we get in Fallout 4.

E: Oh okay I found out. Never mind. Perhaps if it was up to me I would have given him a first warning. I dunno.
This wasn't the first time, is why. He's been warned repeatedly.

2008: "I'm looking for my dad. He's middle-aged. Have you seen him?"

2015: "A man, a woman, and an infant. You're on the list." (Also I'm not going to rush down to the vault in a panic like a real human would, but that's beside the point.)

I would.

Tried playing this game tonight, had to close it after 20 minutes because writing is so bad I actually, physically cringe. I did not even have this problem with Dragon Age 2.
