Things we learned from Fallout 4

271: Nate/Nora with a different face and name can craft a motion sensing, hostile aware turrets out of two telephones and seven flip lighters but is unable to clean cloth before making a bed out of it.

272.Power Creeping all the weapons in DLCs is a future /s.

273.No wonder many people like Fallout 4, when they have got such a terrible taste in gaming:

1. The world is a large and fantastic mass ripe for exploration, and you always find new secrets around every corner, unlike New Vegas, which was just a boring, empty desert.

2. The story, while not perfect, serves its purpose, at least in my opinion.

3. The companions. Piper, Nick Valentine, Maccready, Cait, Curie, Hancock, and the others I can't name off of the top of my head have character to spare. Of course, there's Garvey that just spouts about settlements, but even he has a decent backstory when you get past the cringey voice acting.

4. The factions. They all have their own morals, their own way of doing things, and in the end you have to make a choice. Now of course some can just go the easy route with the Minutemen, but if you choose any other than them, then you have to start making some very hard choices, and in my case, as well as many others, it was a decision that took quite some time to resolve.

5. Replayability. It's worth playing through at least four times to see the different endings, and how things change because of your choices. Now obviously, they're not set out right in front of you, but it's still more than what New Vegas offered, which was just a slide show, and then the main menu.

Now this is a fairly short list as I'm sure you noticed, but it's not for lack of me having a valid argument, it's because I've got other shit to do that's more worth my time than debating over video games, for fuck's sake. It's not serious business. And Metacritic is known for massively hating on the next big game, so that portion of your argument holds little to no water at all. And as for you saying that many other share your opinion, many more disagree with you, so I'm not sure what you hoped to accomplish by bringing that up. I also won't be replying to you any further, because honestly it feels like a waste of time, you've made it abundantly clear in every thread that Fallout 4 is even vaguely mentioned in that you despise it. Which is fine, because everyone has their own opinion, but here are some facts, Bethesda owns Fallout, they bought it fair and square, they decide what's canon, and they can retcon or add anything they want, plenty of companies have done it before, and plenty of companies will continue to do so in the future, it's just part of how the business works. And they've been doing a pretty damned good job of it in my opinion, at least it's not in Interplay's hands anymore, so Brotherhood of Steel 2 will always remain a terrible idea instead of an even worse video game.

I wanted TO GAUGE MY EYES OUT at the sheer stupidity of this post.

Wow, it sounds like the guy who typed that didn't even play Fallout 4. Multiple endings worth several playthroughs? There's only pro-Institute and anti-Institute and the only changes to the world are the flags above Diamond City. Oh, and defending those pointless checkpoints that have no reason to exist.

I know, right? I think I might have lost several brain cells just reading this shit. I have always known there were dumb people, but damn I didn't expect this level of stupidity. And I even lost my time to write a response, which he promptly ignored. On the plus side, I am really happy that I was able to find this site and I had a chance to read Fallout Score fiction by Radiosity, which gave me a good laugh.

"your just an old rose tinted glasses wearing nerd that can't understand the great subtle philosophy of fallout 4. Defending pointless checkpoints is supposed to be boring it symbolizes the tediousness of life. And who needs in depth slideshows that show the effect of your choices when you can show pretty flags instead.

New Vegas has more flags than fallout 4 though.

To be fair, Cabot House referenced a giant alien city under the Mojave, and claims that Robert House was friends with the Immortal Jesus Juice Vampires.

All that the Robobrain established is that there is a robot that thinks she should have been in Love Sets Sail, and that Vera Keyes was the director's niece. It really doesn't ruin anything.
What I was tying to say is does it make it any better? In my opinion it's all crap that should be left out of Fallout 4, they didn't bother giving any GOOD recognition to NV so I wonder why bother putting anything in the game in the first place. Should NV have to share recognition with this thing called a Fallout game? Put more salt in the wound?

Just tryin to look on the bright sid3 man. It's dim sure but just try alright?

274. Apparently chickens are still around and weren't affected by radiation at all. They look like everyday normal chickens. Except now they're called radchickens, because.. Fallout?

275. Nicky Valentino has an evil twin brother who talks like that one creature from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Um.. this one:

276. Angler Fish apparently don't live in the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean like oceanologists will tell us. No no no. They live in swamps in Maine since we can find walking, irradiated angler fish moseying around like they belong in the Bar Harbor area.

Do you honestly think Bethesda care about basic scientific facts when they have quests like kid in a fridge in their game? To quote Pete Hines "Bethesda is not interested in discussing how realistic things are in an alternate universe post-apoc game w/ talking mutants and ghouls

To which Bethesda made a survival setting that requires you to eat and drink to survive.
In a world where nameless settlers can not be killed by anyone but the player and 50% of the 'good' people can't die. It's enough to make you chew your own arm off at how lost Bethesda is. Fallout 4, the game that doesn't know what it is supposed to be.

277. Reality? What is reality? Is reality reality? Or is reality reality? I do not know what reality is, but I do know that reality is reality. Reality is about reality and it requires reality to be real. Does it though? Is this philosophy or bullshit?

While I get what you mean, I think it's good that they actually recognized FONV in a non-harmful way. It shows that contrary to popular belief, they do care about New Vegas canon, and to me, accepting it in a non-contradictory way, does show ultimately that they do care about continuity from what should, quite frankly be more canon than there games.

Out of curiosity, what is the context behind that?, does he just randomly have a dream where he sees a weird thing, or is there a reason why that is relevant to the plot?

I wouldn't be so sure of that respect for NV, you'll notice that they only put that in after everyone complained about how much better NV was, they seem to be trying to incur browny points with Obsidian fans.
On the other hand this somewhat reignites my hopes for an Obsidian Fallout, of course that'd probably be weighed down by a voiced protagonist, so it'd probably suck regardless.
