Todd admits Fallout 4's Dialogue didn't work, you'll never guess what happened next

Oh I see, so not too bad? I mean, being a celebrity in game might make a man think he's a celebrity in life.
Yeah, he's not bad at all. The only reason I referenced him was because I couldn't think of anyone else at Rockstar who even shows his/her face in public very often.

To be fair, I never understood this idolisation and worshiping of some game developers.
To be fair, the same thing kind of happened with Chris Avellone here. Heck, the Codex IS idolizing and worshiping MCA. Not saying you did that, but you know what I mean. Hell, I guess you could say I'm kind of idolizing Hidetaka Miyazaki. But I get what you're saying, the level of 'idolizing' and 'worshiping' toward Todd Howard is baffling when compared to the Codex's veneration of MCA.

It's fine and all to look up to these developers, but when you 'loved' them too much to the point of calling him 'Godd Howard' and just take whatever turd they shit upon you without giving constructive criticism as meaningful feedback, they are just going to take your money while leaving you with piece of shit.

I think, the reason why it confuses me is simply because I think we pay them money for the stuff they do. And since what they sell is entertainment, I expect to be entertained for my money here. And I see not much reason to worhip someone like Todd or Avalone, for that matter, more than my mail man or some random waiter who eventually served me well. Quality work, is the least I expect from those people.
I mean yeah, hey! To value great work is alright, even to honor it. But at the end of the day? It's still something you payed money for.

i like of how todd is the director of morrowind and then suddenly getting booed by people for dumbing down skyrim (oblivion is not his games btw)

something tell me that this man genuinely loves rpg, but cant do as he want due to the pressure from higher up

I heard other theory made by the Codexers. Todd was actually the director of the Elder Scrolls Adventure: Redguard, and he actually want to make those kind of game. Since it wasn't received very well, he 'decided' to slowly but surely turns each iteration of BGS's games under his direction into more and more like Redguard. But hey! It's just a theory, a game developer theory.

Good now all he has to do is realize all the other shit they fucked up with. And fix it I guess.

Also I do think he meant the whole thing was a mistake and they shouldn't have changed at all from their formula for dialogue as he goes on to talk about how it was all about trying new things and they tried to add more choice for how things were going to work out with Far Harbor. So they realize people are complaining about the problems with dialogue and most of all that it is restrictive to player choice. So they must be thinking of fixing it before the next one (lets just hope that next one is written by Obsidian).

I idolize no game dev, I can agree with their ideas and design philosophies but I'll always be critical.
I only actively dislike devs that either lie constantly and shamelessly (Toddy boy) or devs who think they are deep while making the most conventional safe shit (Levine) otherwise I am completely indifferent. For example I don't even think Avellone is that criticsl to have a good Fallout, Fenstermaker was responsible for most of the writting in New Vegas and I don't like Avellone's fixation towards reseting the setting.

Hmmm, I'll say I take "Influence" more than Idolise.
I take Influence from Kojima in how he'll often build his Worlds and the messages he has in them.
I take Influence from MCA in how he writes characters and builds upon backstory.

While others say I would idolise them (and that's not an unfair thing to say), I will say I don't agree with everything they do.
I admit that MGS4 got extremely silly with its plot at times.
And I admit that as much as I love New Reno, it feels rather weird considering it's near a Town like Broken Hills.

So yeah, while I do kind of idolise them, I will admit when they make mistakes.
But there's a difference between how I idolise them and how people idolise Todd Howard (and I'll throw my hands up and say I was one of them).

I like Avellone a lot but his writing hasn't really blown me away since KOTOR 2. I liked the New Vegas DLC but I didn't think it was as good as the main game.

Not, if you ask some Bethesda fans ... I swear someone who is arguing in favour of bugs and glitches must be a special kind of person.

It's bad enough when you have people who go to those great lengths to even try to take that indefensible position. Those are the same people who often think the CONSUMER is entitled for giving the DEVELOPERS, 60$ or your countries equivalent. Total fucking bullshit, You release a product and expect people to buy it, make sure your shit doesn't stink of the poo. I think i haven't found a place that was more personified than that of the twitch streamers, those classic bottom feeders who will say and do anything to get your money and will suck dicks of devs on the daily to get some attention from them and perhaps even free stuff (Shirts, cups, etc) Even if they really don't like the game they will deeply play it if its a hot new title to get a large audience that they hope that they can get in the long term or just a few extra bucks from the stream. Everything they say to me doesn't seem guanine or real. I've maybe only seen one or two actual streamers that don't sound or run their shit like plastic.

Alright, After my rant discussing my enmity towards the majority of twitch streamers i'll turn it back around to fallout and say what bethesda did with the dialouge wheel was new and inventive, it was the same shit that has been done over in different games like Mass Effect, I don't like how they pretend as if "Oh look at us, We are just trying to innovate and our fans tore us to shreds woe is me." Victimization bullshit that i see coming from him. Fuck fallout 4, Everyone will forget about this game and for good reason for being the cash cow gmmicking piece of shit that didn't try to do shit. Everyone is started to preperherase the question "Why doesn't obsidian get another chance at making fallout?" in their reviews and where the discussion of fallout is present. Only genuine shills like MrMattyPlays try to probably ignore or dismiss the notion in its entirety as that would make the suits mad probably at Bethesda.

Whoever wrote Mr. House's dialogue is amazing. For me, it's the best writing in the Fallout series. The voice actor who does Mr. House is also amazing. New Vegas is easily some of the best writing in Fallout and in games overall.

When you compare Mr. House's writing and voice acting to the Sole Survivor or anyone else from Fallout 4, the idiocy of Fallout 4 becomes too much to handle. The vocabulary used in New Vegas is on a completely different reading level.

Fallout 4's dialogue didn't work not just because of the dialogue wheel, but because the writing itself was really, really stupid. If you play Fallout 4, then load up New Vegas and have Mr. House explain his plans and the politics of NCR and Caesar's Legion, it's clear that the writing of New Vegas is on a completely different level.

This, the voice actor for Mr House caught the arrogance and intelligence of a businessman and visionary so well.

Fallout 4 doesn't really have true dialogue anyways. Let's be honest--you don't have the options at all... at least with Fallout 3 you could speak and make different points, or maybe the skill checks (albeit arbitrary or stupid ones) whereas in Fallout 4 the most "in depth" thing you can do is ask for more information. The only time I saw something better than that was when you would be speaking to someone and you could say something optimistic, or maybe sarcastic, etc. but it really was meaningless. Fallout 4 barely had any dialogue writing AT ALL compared to any other Fallout.
Now look at this:

Once again Fallout 4 only had this:

But Fallout NV had THIS:

SO even if Bethesda can't make better dialogue... they should at least PUT IN DIALOGUE rather than ignoring it... there's only one way to improve at a skill, and I'm sure if Bethesda worked hard, hired new writers, etc. then they could improve their quality.
