Turkish military has taken over government

Tried? Did you not see the videos and pictures? Many of those taken prisonner at the bridge were lashed with leather belts, had their throats cut and were then dumped into the river.

So much for "tried".
Erdogan also used this uprising as an excuse to purge the judicial system and got rid of over 140 judges.

Holy crap really? No I didn't see those videos & pics. I did see some pics of dead bodies of young guys in the street shot dead. Was a bit earlier though so maybe part of the fighting. Man, this stuff is just messed up. All the stuff that happens far away is equally bad but this is relatively close to Europe.

Oh yeah, there were some beheaded soldiers on bridges.
And they're talking about bringing back the death penalty. Of course it's the perfect opportunity to demand the extradition of Gülen, so now Incirlik is more or less closed down, which is totally not a hint at the US to do what Erdogan wants if they want to continue to fight against ISIS.
This is totally going to end well. Well, at least the turkish people like their autocrat, so... Good for them?

Giving Erdogan full power and control over Turkey so they can have a dictator in the middle-east....you know, just in case. You never know when you might need one.
No no, I meant what would the US gain by conspiring against Erdogan, like where they activelly want to remove him from power. I am not aware about Turkey having a problem with the US presence. I don't think the US sees Erdogan as a threat or problem. But who knows? Maybe only NOW do they realize in the US what kind of MOFO he is. But Erdogan would be an idiot if he would alinate the relationship between Turkey and the US with the growing tensions between Turkey and Russia.

You know what's funny? How quick people on social media in Germany jumped on the OMG! THOSE ASSHOLE MILITARY! How can they make a coupe against an democratically ellected leader!-Bandwagon, Yeah did people forget that a military isn't just there to protect a nation from outside dangers? Have they all forgottone about the shit that Erdogan did in the last few years, his attempts at dismantling the Turkish democracy? And how he deals with the press and criticism? Just before the coup there was a serious proposal to remove laicism from the Turkish constitution! What should an army do, who has sworn to protect the constitution when they face a government with the intention to remove democracy?

It's really sad to see how many support Erdogan has in the Turkish population right now. But I feel that all of this, will at some point come back to bite them in the ass. There is no such thing as a benelovent dictator. And Erdogan is on his way to dictatorship. There can be no doubts about it. He has been in power far longer than any other Turkish leader. And he has constantly changed laws and used religion for his politics. A pitty, Attaturk must roll over in his grave right now.

There's growing talk by locals of it having been (in part) manipulation of naive recruits fresh out of boot camp. As you can tell from the pics, many of the soldiers are green behind the ears & 20 years old or less.
Supposedly some units received legitimate(-looking?) orders to take certain key places, which often had a PKK (read terrorist) history. So thinking they were acting on anti-terror orders, they took the designated places.
Subsequently, they find themselves surrounded and assailed by pro-erdogan protestors & armed police. At best they get taken prisonner for treason, at worst they get lynched.

If this is even remotely true, this sounds very much like a false flag operation. But it might as well be disinformation.

Sounds like something Palpatine would have done. So Erdowahn could be behind it all in the end ...

Well okay since i was at the streets for the weekend and the recess period for this year is cancelled thanks to this coup i'm forced to return to my post. So i wasn't able write here.

First i'm a prosecutor from Turkey (though a new one). I was at my hometown Ankara during the coup for anyone who doesn't know Ankara is the capital and suffered the bulk of the violence. I'm the third generation lawyer from my family: a family with pure kemalists roots. I have no religious affinity. Half of my family are soldiers and the other half works for the government long before AKP came to power. Almost no one in my family works in the private sector. That's just a family thing.

I'm telling all this so anyone who cares enough read this post might understand that where i'm coming from.

So let's start:

1) It was not a conspiracy by the government. Gulenist movement and AKP build an alliance when AKP first elected. Gulenist unlike initial AKP members had(more or less) many educated and qualified people in their disposal so together they started to replace leftists, conservatives and kemalists in the goverment. Since U.S.A was okay with all these AKP had enormous support from the outside. So no coup from Kemalists was possible(Who're getting uncooperative with U.S.A for a while. For example during the Iraq invasion AKP and Erdoğan fully supported the law that allowed U.S.A soldiers to use Turkey for their operations. However The Army, Kemalists and Conservatives together foiled this and that skeleton law didn't passed the senate.

However this proved that AKP was the only dependable U.S.A ally in Turkey. So i believe U.S.A at "the very least" allowed AKP and Gulenists to do whatever they want to seize the full power. So they did and the time passed and at some point Gulenist movement started using fake cases to eliminate kemalists from the army, the jurisdiction and the police department(we suffered from all these in first hand as whole family). At some point in 2011 Erdogan noticed the danger. As he get more sour with U.S.A he came to realize that what he allowed Gulenists to do the others can be done to himself.

2) In the jurisdiction all of us: kemalists, leftists and AKP supporters come together and won the elections for The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors againts Gulenists (only by a small margin). To put it in perspective there are 12000 Judges and Prosecutors in Turkey and 5000 of them are Gulenist. They're that numerous because they cheated in the exams and quickly rose in numbers. And i know this from first hand, it. is. a. fact.

3) So in a few weeks The Supreme Military Council was going to assemble and discharge thousands of these Gulenists from the army. Since jurisdiction was won back, all those soldiers were going to lose their cases against those discharges. They're backed in a corner and desperate. All these are facts, no lie.

4) This' why they attempted a coup. It was their last change before they're taken down. Especially Kemalist generals (two of them are my relatives btw) did all they can to stop this coup from happening. Everyone tried to prevent this. I'm not going to say that in Turkey we don't have edgy teens that learn their political views from 9gag. So yes you'll see many of them saying it's was Erdoğan. It's a more imbecile claim than 9/11 was an inside job or area 49 or Moon Landing hoax claims.

So all these fuss about U.S.A intervention: there is no solid proof beyond the facts that Gulen is in America and he did(!) ordered a coup in Turkey. I mean how is that a long leap that U.S.A didn't know this and has nothing to do with it? I'm not going the hate U.S.A for doing what empires do. However believing they're a white lamb in this mess... I mean what would America do if we harbor a coup suspect in our border? I bet what they'd do include an atom bomb or two.

Funny how Erdogan is bringing back the death penalty simply because "the people on the streets" asked him to.

The coup was faked!

Obviously, because it game him popularity and an excuse to consolidate power.

Coincidence? I think not.
