Meh. They were defensive, yeah, but less so against Turkey and Poland, and that's more offense than Italy and Greece both showed.

Being born in Poland and living here for 2 years since his birth, he must have Polish citizenship. I'll admit i don't know the laws regarding ethnic Germans too well, but i'm pretty sure he is registered as a Pole same as a German (otherwise, he wouldn't even have the choice for which national team to play).

Not at all, he could be denaturalized. I don't know how the German repatriation went but he moved to Germany specifically as an ethnic German, not as a Polish immigrant.

Regardless, our sportsnews reported this claim of his citizenship and added "This would be tough to do, as Podolski has no Polish passport." So as far as I know, he doesn't. I don't know how or why. He could've given it up, he could never have had it.
