Well, the game is about scoring goals, so efficiency in goalscoring is arguably the most important aspect of the game, although it doesn't necessarily make for a very entertaining game if that's all one or both teams are good at.
Well, this isn't really true either. The game is about scoring more goals than the opposition, but this doesn't mean that creating 3 goals and scoring 1 goal is better than creating 20 and scoring 3, even though the former is more efficient. ;)

So, the French team has been a disaster during the euro. The 3rd of July, the coach (Domenech) will probably have to resigne. People think that the captain of the French team during the World Cup 1998 is gonna be chosen (his name is Deschamps) to replace. Everything except Domenech! 'cause this bastard still have a contract for two more years, and the comittee could decide to keep him. This guy lose the last match and all he finds to say on the TV is : "Estelle, do you want to marry me"... (Estelle is his fiancée) ... idiot.

Frankly, now I hope that the Germans will make it.

Bah, too bad for Turkey. Before the tourney started, i wanted them to get utterly and completely destroyed (:D), but with every match, i found myself cheering for them a little more. They really impressed me by finding the strenght and motivation to fight against overwhelming odds. One has to admire that.

So, Russia vs Spain. This won't be a copy of the first match, now that the Russians have Arshavin back. It's pretty clear he's one of those people that can make a difference all by themselves, and the rest of the team is up to the challenge as well. On the other hand, the Spaniards will definitely want to take advantage of the momentum, and finally prove they can win a big tournament. And Aragones is not a coaching noob like Van Basten, he won't let himself get out-coached by Hiddink.

Time to stock up on beers. :D

True, but in the match in question Germany scored on 3 out of 3 shots on goal, whereas Turkey scored 2 out of 11 (according to uefa). Obviously a team that creates no chances will never win, even if they're very good at exploiting the chances that they (don't) get.

I was able to catch yesterdays game, but I'm annoyed that I'm missing todays match. I need a DVR really friggin bad...now that Turkey is out, go go Russia...

Mwahahahaha!!!

7-1 in two matches!

might it be said Russia has been owned? may i? please?

who said spain wasn't a proper team? i recognize that use to be our flaw, but honestly, spain ruled the match. with style.

My favourite team in the finals, what could I wish more?

The match was pretty much decided after the first goal, Russian defense wasn't just good enough, and they were slow today.

I'm looking forward to the finals.

I'd say that, after the first half, the game was still up for grabs but the second half was plain ownage. Spain had a ridiculous number of chances, there could have been a lot more goals. I'm really impressed by the ease with which their defenders took the ball away as well. I'm not so sure about Germany's chances anymore.

Spain beat Russia as badly as Russia beat the Netherlands.

That's football for you.

Definitely different from the first match too. I've kind of only been watching Spain with a half eye so I don't know where the turning point was, but this team was actually good, as opposed to the atrocious team with a few individual actions in there that we saw in the first Russia-Spain game.

Good growing into the tournament. Not something Spain does often.

And yet again no prize for Hiddink. For someone who everyone lauds as a genius, the man sure has very few prizes in his cupboards.

Poll reset, previous results (Spain suddenly jumped up just now):

Who will win the UEFA Euro Championship 2008?
Germany
48% [ 12 ]
Turkey
12% [ 3 ]
Russia
20% [ 5 ]
Spain
20% [ 5 ]

I disagree. Netherland's defeat was bad but not as bad. The dutch had a few moments of their own and did score a goal. The only real danger for Spain happened at the last minute.

Good news for Italy, Donadoni got fired. Lippi received an offer. About time.

Yes...about fucking time !
I am so glad that they fired that idiot. He made a mess out of the Italian team.

Huh.

I can't believe Spain's the NMA favourite so far.

Not that Spain didn't play better last match than Germany did last match, but that doesn't say that much.

And hell, not like Spain doesn't have better players in almost all positions than Germany does.

But c'mon...

It's Germany.

I'd be pretty startled by Spain's win as well. Germany is just a winning, hard-working nation and they win with two or three goal chances very often. Like in semifinals. :)

I bet on Germany... I'm even ready to bet my right ball on teh match... *gulp*... please germans...don't fuck up.

Congrats to Spain!

A great game, really enjoyed it. Was afraid that it'd turn into a very careful game, with not much attacking power, but this was really great. Spain played great.

Hah! Poor, poor Germans. The team that reach the finals should at least once hit the goal. Why Casillas has been there today? :D

Really nothing special from both teams, small disappointment about Spainiards performance, the big one about the Germans. Jens Lehmann was probably a man of the match. An average final, but still not boring.

Also, relatively bad referee. :?

Congrats to Spain :)

Bad referee (not the worst though).

Our team played again bad and i'm more and more wondering why it seems so fucking random if they play good or bad...
Maybe it's just in my mind.

Great congrats to nuestros hermanos. I was hoping you'd win :D

Parabéns!

Anyway, it's wierd (I only found the other day): did you know spain's hymn doesn't have lyrics? That's why their players just stay there staring straight ahead :P
