hi all.
i'm going to play Fallout II
i will install:
Official patch
Killian's patch
Children'S mod
Italian translation

So, is this a good base to start the game without great problems? or do i have to wait an "upcoming" killian's patch??

You'll only need the killap's patch, it already includes all of the others except the italian translation.

Yes, there will be another version. It will be fully compatible with the version currently out right now. Even though I thought I was nearing completion, this upcoming update includes quit a hefty number of fixes. Cudos to Haenlomal for finding so many bugs still left in the game.

Ok, Does anyone know if it is normal Susik doesn't fight against Geckos in the first city (near the whiskey distillery)?

Actually, children's mod is not included with latest Kilap's patch.

Hi all, I'm having problems with the kids in fallout 2.

I have installed the UK version + 1.02 patch + killap's patch (1.02.25) and I have deleted the file patch000.dat but children doesn't appear yet in the game, I can see what they say but I can't see them.

I have checked that I have the patch correctly installed with the stone outside the temple of trials
What could be the problem?

Thanks a lot

Children won't appear on maps you have already visited in existing games. If you don't mind resetting the map, you could load the game and exit to the world map, then delete the vctyctyd.sav file from the fallout2/data/maps folder. When you enter VC Curtis should be there. Make sure you don't leave any NPCs standing on the map when you do this, though.

Deleting the sav file causes the game to crash when I enter vault city courtyard, but I have traveled to Redding (I had not visited yet) and there I can see the children.

Thanks for your help

The savegame keeps a list of which .sav files it expects to find, and will crash if you simply delete one. It is safe to replace a .sav file with one from another savegame, so you can start a new game, do a speed-run over to VC, and copy the vctyctyd.sav file from that game into your current one. Hacking the save.dat file is also possible, but more complicated.

That's odd. I tried the procedure just now and the result was to reset the map, no crash. You deleted it in the data/maps folder after loading, not in the saves folder before loading?

It was my fault, I deleted it in the saves folder before loading because I couldn't find the file in the data/maps folder

WorldMapEncounterRate

Hi all!

Fallout 3 inspired me to go back to Fallout 2, which I never finished. So I av found killap's patch, seems to be working fine, but I get too many encounters on world map. I know there is the instruction in the readme how to alter that. Still I am wondering what value would be optimal, close to the default, how it is supposed to be. Between Arroyo and Klamath I got 3 encounters (huge ones, needless to say). If the default is 30 what would be the optimal? I don't think 3 encounters is normal.

Thanx: Davva
