V:TM - Bloodlines

Very hard pressing issues, those character models.

Usually i don't care but when you get a gorila with a banana up his ass it is kinda painfull to watch.

Edit: I mean.. Look at it!

That's the point, Makta.

Each character is meant to have a very distinct look (which evolves with your armor level).

The Brujah is meant to be a physically well-developed melanin-enriched gentleman with a do-rag.

I don't see a "gorilla" with a banana up his ass on this picture.
Also what Suaside said. If you don't like the clans and bloodlines in this game, then perhaps it is not for you.

I was always frustrated by this game, I wanted to like it but there were so many broken pieces that I had to regretfully shelve it, and pretty much wrote off Troika after it. I had no idea people continued to tinker with it for so many years after release, I may have to try it out again.

I hated vampire-anything but I gave the game a chance because of the des/devs and I was glad I did: Great writing, Voice acting, plotting and chapters that actually changed tone and flow (perhaps a bit too much I recall getting frustrated having to relearn playstyle after a couple major game changes, but hey, you're immortal so I guess that comes with the territory).

Haunted house was great, the level you learn to cope with sunlight was a terrific way to break up the combat with some old school environmental "puzzle" (I actually missed that being a regular mechanic). Hmm, anyone got a playthrough vid around, I may want to browse again before I buy.

There should be several LP's on youtube and the only thing you need is the UO patch and maybe the console activated in case an elevator gets stuck.. Needed it twice in several hours game play.

On a side note.
[spoiler:6c0b8c8f3f]When is it to late to choose side? The bald guy was not to happy about me helping the damn hippies hunting some sick vampires and i may just join the Camarilla's unless something better shows up.[/spoiler:6c0b8c8f3f]

They went a bit too far over the top with some of the character models in VtMB, IMO, but it's a superb game. If they bother you so much try playing Tremere or Toreador. Those are pretty good.

Wesp's patch was updated to 8.8 recently, in case you didn't know.

I did get the patch and i did pick a Tremere. Sadly i forgot that they are pretty much thrown into the price hands but hey.. I was looking at that direction from the start :P

I will probably play trough it once more when i'm done. Time to go batshit crazy this time around.

VTMB is a great rpg, I played it a few years back with the official and nude patches and loved it, I rolled a Toreador because they had unique spells and the game lasted me around 12 hours including side quests. The game world looks nice and there is a lot of ambiance, I didn't run into many glitches at all, and Jeanette is super hot.

The game is extremely open ended and has like 6 endings overall, the quests themselves have good or bad choices and some of the characters are interesting. The main story itself is meh and a bit bland but it's great in every other way. Each chapter, (I think there is 4) leads you to a new area with minimal/moderate exploration, maybe 2-3 digital street blocks worth and the music is your stereotypical mall goth stuff such as Lacuna Coil and whatnot.

I'd give the game an 8/10 for what it is and it sucks how the developer went bankrupt because I would have loved a sequel.

It's predecessor VTMB Redemption on the other hand is kind of crappy and has some prevalent bugs/glitches that can affect your gameplay badly such as disappearing save files and antiquated mechanics, the game also froze on me even when under compatibility mode. I was only able to start the second half of the game before my save file disappeared so I never finished it.

They may get mad at you and not give you gifts, but you don't make a final decision until the very end of the game. There are a few endings where you definitely have to follow a certain path to get them, but the "choosing a side" part isn't really until the end.

Yeah i noticed. Saved before the end and tried 2-3 different ones that i would have choosen. Kinda meh but overall the game was great.

you did everything right with the gargoyle?

I solved that situation peacefully and I did not tell the Toreador regent about Maximilian's involvement. Mayhap I encountered a glitch that has been corrected in a subsequent unofficial patch.

My first playthrough was with a Tremere. I did all I could to adhere to Maximilian's commands and never got the apartment.
To get the Tremere apartment, you need to go back frequently and NEVER say anything wrong and solve all the quests correctly.

Simply skipping one dialogue option where you wisecrack against the regent would be enough to lose it.

I played it for the first time (in full, last time a few months back was stopped due to game-breaking bug) not that long ago. Anyway I already liked World of Darkness and I absolutely loved the game. Played as a high humanity Female Toreador Anarch. Mainly used Persuasion, Seduction, Lockpicking, Hacking and Firearms. Firearms did suck at first, the first decent firearm you really get is the Glock.

Definitely going to play it again in the future. Probably as a Male Malkavian. Also, screw that sewer level.

Patch patch patch! With the fan-made patches, there are no game breaking bugs that I know of.

The standard gamebreaking bug for unpatched V:tM-B is the motorboat level transition failing in the cave lair.

I had the WESP patch both times. It happened last time I played too, I just managed to fix it this time. It was when I got to the Elizabeth Dane and the game couldn't load a cop texture or something like that so it would exit out to desktop. The first time I just gave up but last time I looked it up and was able to find out what to do, had to change some file names and then luckily it fixed it and the error didn't happen again.

Just started another playthrough, this time as a Tremere. Chose the Eldritch Prodigy History in order to increase my Thaumaturgy faster though my overall experience points are lowered. Mainly chose Tremere because supposedly with one of the recent Plus Patches by Wesp, Tremeres can learn Protean from Beckett provided they do provide the right dialogue options to him at the right times. So that should be interesting.

Also, I'm building my character to be mostly Thaumaturgy-based with some melee skills. That way I can pling them from afar with Blood Strike, delay them (or crowd control lots of enemies) with Blood Purge, and if they then get too close, whack them with my pointy stick. It was interesting doing one of the early combat scenarios with nothing but Blood Strike because if my enemy doesn't die, I get blood back from them so I can pretty much repeat the process ad infinitum. Doing so made me think I should've just bumped up my dodge and soak instead of worrying about melee at all. Especially once I get Blood Shield at Level 3 Thaumaturgy.

I love this game. <3
