I hated vampire lore and mythology.

Vampire Bloodlines made me love them, I finished that game 4 times.And now I even watch True Blood (Alan Ball's HBO show) because its vampires are quite similar to those in Bloodlines, plus there is a lot more going on than just vampires...(again, just like in Bloodlines).

Agreed.. Quite fun show. Can be pretty cheesy at times, but the good outweigh the bad. A lot of characters are amazing too. Out of vampire characters I only really like Eric so far though, but most characters aren't vampires anyway.
 
This game was responsible for my first Frankenstein, I got a motherbored and some other parts from some computers I found in the trash and did some heavy modifications with the help of a friend. You would actually be surprised what some companies throw away. Garbage night in the city is were its at.

Anyway, I beat this game with every clan twice over except for Brujah because I did not like the character model and they seem to basic.

The odd thing I've noticed after first playing the game in 04 was my clan and character choices. In 04 my favorite clan was Toreador now in 09 I'm all about the Ventrue.
 
always have been and likely always will be Gangrel (male loner by choice, eventhough i kinda dislike the character model) and Tremere (lol, nothing says fuck you like an nearly anorexic vampire blood magician chick with a UZI).
 
Despite being a social butterfly I do enjoy my alone time and I tend to do my own thing. The Idea of the independence of the Gangrel clan is tempting but their powers and the whole rural thing is not for me. Ventrues have Dominate and Presence for whenever they need to control people and Fortitude for when they can't. I think that is the coolest combination of powers in the game.
 
I only played through as a Gangrel. I like the Protean discipline since I didn't have to use a weapon at all, but it was pretty hard to fight hand to hand sometimes even with the close combat brute Protean and Fortitude produces. Loved the game but my computer at the time made it lag a little too much...
Maybe it's time to pick it up again as a Malkavian.
 
Tremere was always my choice. I prefer finesse over brute force and I do have that penetrating look sometimes.
 
What a great game, great use of the Source engine. I was nearing the end when mi pc back then became R.I.P., and lost all data :-(

Was playing as a Gangrel, will try Malkavian this time, since it's so recomended...

Malks are incredibaly funny to play, some of the best dialogue ever found in a game for insane characters.
 
Malkavian is still my favorite, but I notice that first characters people choose tend to stay their favorites, so maybe that's also the case with me. However, no one can argue that Malkavian dialogue choices are awesome, and there's a funny bit [spoiler:56477a38f9]with TV[/spoiler:56477a38f9] at certain point in the game that only Malkavians get.
 
well, you shouldn't play a Malk during your first playthrough imo.

as awesome as a Malk is to play, you loose many nuances and start to expect certain things from the other clans.

as for powers? hell, it's hard to beat Tremere powers! goddamn it, nothing like a blood disciplines! from heart attacks to making an entire group of people violently puking blood, it's all good. :)
 
My first first playthrough was with a Malkavian and it didn't ruined anything about the second playthrough with a Tremere. I enjoyed the Tremere but I found that obfuscate + melee weapon is more to my liking.
 
Malkavian didn't ruin anything for me neither, except that I loved Obfuscate+stealth kills so much I missed it when I replayed the game with other clans. Open combat tends to get quite annoying for me, clearly not the strong point of this game. Nosferatu clan has Obfuscate too, but I still can't bring myself to play that clan, as I dislike being in the sewers. I will eventually, I think.

You are not the only one, combat was a little sloppy. I don't know how's with guns though, I always found vampires using firearms kind of lame :P
 
I recently started as Malk, and its hilarious! Seems like he's high or something, hahaha.

Also, i had forgotten all about "Deb at night", she's awesome... or should i say "freakin' awesome"! And the tv newscast enhances the mood, certainly.

Me too, and Underworld didn't convinced me, Kate Beckingsale or not :P. I prefered melee weapons for my vamp in my first run, guess i'll stick to those again.

FYI, the latest unnoficial patch is 6.0.

Now if only i could forget about that moronic trailer of that shitty movie "Twilight" and those gay vamps...
 
Just ran across a problem I haven't experienced before. In Hollywood, Vesuvius stripclub, after VV suggests to talk upstairs, I go there and she wouldn't talk to me anymore. I've finished all the other quests in Hollywood, and I was coming back to her every other time to check if she still doesn't want to talk. Now I have nothing else to do but leave for Chinatown, yet I'd still like to do VV's quests. Haven't found anything helpful on google, anyone experienced something like this? Or maybe someone knows a console command that may help?
This is with latest unofficial patch by the way.
