V:TM - Bloodlines

there's nothing wrong with the use of boomsticks to make your life easier. use the Glock to clear the zombied plaguebearers, use the UZI for zombies at the mansion, use the SPAS for the snuff house & hollywood sewers...
following the long tradition of b-movie horror flicks, there's no weapon like the 12gauge shotgun (Utica 37?) when it comes to supernatural creatures :salute:

Ithaca M37, not to be confused however with current production "Ithaca" shotguns, which are no longer the same company.

Steyr-AUG is the best actually, my favourite.

But nah, I'm a complete ninja this time, Obfuscate rocks. Too bad it only lasts like half a minute.

All you first-timers who just finished the game...

Care to post your impressions? Favorite parts, least favorite parts (I'd say consensus will be the last part of the game ;)), general opinions

My favourite weapon is the Auto Shotgun, After I got it, used it 'til the end. I saved the flamethrower so much that I ended up not using it on my first playthrough.

Ah, the damned sewers.

I didn't used any ranged weapon. If you don't have the skills, they all suck totally. Now, when I do replays, I mostly only take melee weapons. Sword is just the best for me.

My least favourite part are the Tzimisce two-legged screaming ass mouth infested sewers. And pretty much mst of the stuff after that I guess. Can't remember exactly how late that is, Hollywood? There are a few things to do in China Town I guess. I always feel sad when I realize all the little missions are done and I only have the endless monotonous slaughter left.

I almost always use melee weapons, ending up with the aggravated damage sword, usually using the fire axe (a mad-mans weapon) a large part of the game. Claws if Gangrel, of course.

Firearms were kind of fun with celerity, but then you had to reload with celerity activated which took forever and and wasted precious celerity time. With a melee weapon you could smack them around throughout the entire celerity period.

with firearms maxed, it's very easy to take down the fleshcrafted twolegged mofos with either the SPAS15 or the magnum revolver.

and yes, the fire-axe has about the most awesome description in game i've ever read. simple, but effective. :)

I don't remember exactly what firearms you could get because I haven't played in a while, but I found the Desert Eagle to be very very useful, especially when you had the skills that made it deadly accurate.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I'm guessing I missed out on a couple of firearms that were better!

I think I have one more replay left in me after this one, and it's going to be Tremere, becaues Strauss seems like one of the more interesting characters in the game.

[spoiler:daefdaa9ba]The Malkavian dialogue with Samantha is hilarious! I also like that Ming Xiao gets freaked out the first time you talk to her.

I dislike those monsters in the snuff film because they defy physics. Otherwise I like that particular part of the plot, which seems inspired by the movie 8mm. A very creepy flick, 8mm.

Although the sewer crawl is tedious, I admit.[/spoiler:daefdaa9ba]

I like the first and last armors for the Malkavian female, but the second and third ones are absurd.

Isn't it possible to mod those sewers out? I did nearly quit the game back in times when I first played it because of this boring dungeon. Or does it destroy the balance of the game?

Make it smaller and shorter would help a bit at least. :)

by the time you can get the AUG, the rifle is a bit underwhelming.

Takes down most bosses really fast, especially the final boss. Is great for clearing the last few dungeons. Other guns are more powerful, but are a lot slower or have smaller magazines, so I opt for AUG.

Favourite parts? The prosthetics shop. Dialogue lines when buying new wpns from Mercurio. The hengeyoukai quest.

When I went through the Hollywood sewers this time I used the SPAS-15 on full auto to take out the big three-headed creatures. Worked like a charm. Empy a full clip into one of them at close range and they run away in fright, then half another clip and they're dust. You can carry just enough ammo to slaughter them all that way.

I was trying to think which parts of the game are most replayable. I think the Sabbat warehouse at the beginning is pretty good. There are many different ways to accomplish your mission.

Reinstalling this game, never played as a malkavian. This should be interesting.
There are a lot of interesting things to experience as a Malkavian, more than just dialogue differences. Pay close attention to your senses.

Yeah, alot of fun so far. I also rolled a Nosferatu (which I have also never played) but im not very good with it haha. Sewers are kind of irritating.

Meh SPAS is too slow. I don't think I even used any guns in the sewers, there's so many rats around that Blood Shot or Blood Boil make things a lot easier. 3 Blood shots and maybe a few bullets per one of those 3-headed guys.

Malk senses are fun, but sadly don't change the way the game goes (out of what I've seen thus far anyway). Example: [spoiler:85b88bcf78]I find out that the ghoul in Asylum actually works for the Nosferatu I need, but he still doesn't tell me where to find him, and I still have to do the ghost mansion. Or, I find out that the two sisters are the same person from get-go, but unfortunately still have to deal with them the same exact way as before. I may be asking too much, but it'd be way cooler if there were Malk-specific conflict resolutions.[/spoiler:85b88bcf78]

I don't like it for anything but blasting those tri-torso creatures in the Hollywood sewers. They're big enough targets that you can fire on full auto and not miss.

Yeah, that would be nice.

I wish VtMB were as moddable as NWN. It's so much better at it's core. I'd also like to see the 3D used to it's full potential, with skill-based climbing, ropes, flying, etc. Take out the FPS action crap and put in more RPG elements.

The FPS action isn't so bad, really. Until the last part of the game (the three horrid "dungeon crawls") it's fairly rare and far in between, so the game plays more like an adventure game with RPG elements.
