Van Buren tech demo

Thank you NMA for this slim slice of heavenly pie. Oddly enough, I can download faster at home than at work, so I will have to wait till then.

If you are ever dipped in the vats, may you mutate into something happy!

It's thunder and lightning outside. I'm going to pray for electricity now.

Brother None, thought I would let you know that Blues News leads with your Van Buren demo release.

Wow, that should be a kick in the traffic numbers. Nice promotion for NMA.

We broke our old record of 10313 unique hits in one day, that'd been left standing since 16 December 2003. We're currently at 16,639 and counting.

whoa an 50% increase already thats amazing Kharn. I expected that the old record to get broken, but by this much...

congratz NMA!!

Unless you guys have some other version than me, the "internet" address it is trying to access is 127.0.0.1. Which, for the very clueless out there, is your own computer. It is not connecting to the internet. It probably has something to do with the multiplayer function, or maybe it's just some weird programming thing since I've seen other games do the same thing, I don't know, but it isn't doing any harm or attempting to access anything outside of your own desktop.

Also, thanks for the demo, NMA!

yes, the client makes a ping to your own network :)

Remnants of the networking code, i traced it and it doesn't do a thing except the ping from your client to... your client :)

Uh...

God Jul!

Tackar!

Sverd av tomhet!

Suga min rov!

Ingen fara, dricker ej!

fiddling with the demo made me rather sad
i just wish interplay wasn't dead so i could boycott them
doesn't make much sense, but would make me feel better

btw, sounds.grp is twice in the package
that's 162M each
they do compress relatively well (raw PCM audio), but takes a bunch of wasted space anyway

anyway.. did some ripping, for great justice;
http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/fallout/vanburen - Sounds 00049.ogg
http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/fallout/vanburen - Sounds 00050.ogg
http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/fallout/vanburen - Sounds 00051.ogg
three tracks of lovely fallout music
they don't seem familiar, but the atmosphere is there and right

and as an additional bonus; the bethesda's "streamable" theme music - for comparison or whathaveyou
http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/fallout/bethesda - fallout3 theme.mp3

Allowed F3.exe to access internet, now it works.

Hang on, is that obligatory? Guys? 'cause that's pretty weird, if you ask me.

I've never allowed it internet access and it works fine for me with XP/ZoneAlarm.

This headcrab (sigh) just shed a tear :)

But it's got no eyes! ;)

Good job, shole!

Mind if I zip them up and put them on our server? Also, would you mind putting the OGG's into mp3 form?

i don't mind
i made them .ogg as that's a personal preference.. i'll cook up .mp3 aswell and upload immediately
