Vault Boy Now Delivering Pizza in Massachusetts Area

I could agree with that if it were merely the same style, but I'm pretty sure that head is a verbatim copy of the one Bethesda uses, right down to how many lines there are on the shaved sideburns...

Stand And Deliver!

Stand And Deliver!

Hey, why not have a merger of cheesy, round, fast consumables!

Fast food --> pizzas!

Fast entertainment --> post Morrowind B-Soft Products!

Each franchise could cross compost the media with two for one deals!

Special deep dish discounts, in game coupons to Expresso Pizza ...

when B-soft comes out of the closet with it's MMO milk cow ...

direct server teats at EXPRESSO PIZZA!

Pizza Rave Raiding PAR-TAYS!

Who wants to be emo 'n' Metro hangin' at Star Bucks ...

when the elite meat to eat, and go go go broad band, at B-Soft's favorite high carb bistro!

It does look like a pretty clearcut copy, even if the body is different. I'm sure they didn't knowingly use fallout art, but whoever did the artwork for them will likely be tasting fines.

1 ... 2... 3... and "sued" by Bethesda.

No seriously would not surprise me if they would do it.

Why would it surprise you? They should sue them.

Its not even just the issue of infringing on their video game character, that is somebody's artwork that they poached.

Likely, the pizza place commissioned a graphic artist to design their images and instead of creating the artwork himself, he copied somebody else's artwork and got paid for it.

That's pretty much what the laws are there for.

I like how the Joystiq article says "Fallout 3's Vault Boy".

Because Bethesda obviously invented the Vault Boy.

Yeah, same error TotallyLooksLike.com made with that picture I linked.

Well, technically, Vault Boy does belong to Bethesda.
But they call it "Fallout 3's Vault Boy", when it so clearly was created before Fallout 3 and Bethesda took over.
"Fallout's Vault Boy" would have been more appropriate and made sense.

I know, it annoys me to see "Fallout 3's" type of thing or when people use "Fallout" when they are referring to Fallout 3. :x

Most people just know, or play, Fallout 3. Which is sad.

It's not a question of ownership, but of origin. The "'s" is not possesive here, but describes where something came from (e.g. Matrix's Neo). Even if Nintendobought out the Matrix franchise, and star Neo in a game called "Mushroom Kingdom", he'd still be "Matrix's Neo" in a different setting. He'd also be "Nintendo's Neo" but not "Mushroom Kingdom's Neo".

Well, VaultBoy was drawn slightly differently for Fallout and Fallout 3, and the image used here clearly looks like the Fallout 3 VaultBoy.

This looks like the proper usage of terms to me.

Waiting for you to show us the differences.
Or I'll be forced to think you made this up the minute you wrote this message.

I'm sure somebody can dig up the posts on here that were detailing this from long before Fallout 3 was released.

Its not my observation to make up. There were actually complaints here about the (minor) changes in VaultBoy when we first saw him in Bethesda's promotional materials. I don't remember them all myself. I believe some of it had to do with line thickness, and more geometric vs. rubberhose type limbs.

I believe Autoduel is right. You can do the comparison using our Vault-boy pictures in the gallery. The Bethesda VB's are slightly different.

The first comparison in this thread certainly looks like the Beth Vaultboy, the one with the signs and weird body... not so sure, looks more like the F1/F2 VB.

Check out the differences in the the sideburns, hair, face, angle of the head, etc.

Very similar, yet still different.

That last picture of Vault Boy's head on the Bethesda side is the one used by the pizza place.

Actually, you can also find differences between T-Ray Isaac's FO1 Vault Boy and Brian Menze's FO2 one. Menze's is somewhat slicker.

So Vault Boy got a makeover, so what? He's still the same ol' mascot from the Fallout series. The difference is too subtle for it to matter anyways.
