I don't know if you're joking or not.
Naw, I would say they both made good points and both made their own decisions in the end, so no one is really to blame, or at least you could say they made both a lot of mistakes. No one really forced them in to anything, however in my opinion it was the god hand or those demon-figures which manipulated everyone in the end, so there is that. But what I respect in Guts, is that he was the only one who was actually an equal to Griffith, which is why he left him, otherwise he would have been just another mercenary, just another tool, which is what kinda lead to his depression when Guts decided to leave, but if Guts wasn't this kind of person, going for his own dream, how could Griffith ever accept him as peer and equall? He even said that much by himself at some point. Maybe in the begining Griffith recruited Guts simply for his strength, but he ended up respecting him as friend. They definetly had a very complex relation, and that's what I enjoyed about the story the most. Of course in a perfect world they would have both fucked Casca and said to everyone, screw yah all, we're leaveing like 'Bros before hoes', riding together in to the sunsent and living the happy mercenary live slicing up people, but ... oh well ... in another dimension I guess.

Did he really though? I never had the feeling that Griffith was broken. He keept up pretty well, considering his condition. I mean for fucks sake, they removed half of his face. Others would have probably gone completely insane at this point, except for guts maybe, but he never striked me as someone who was mentally instable or something like that and was still capable of reason. He was simply finished at this point and ready to kill him self, but that's hardly a surprise.

If he wasn't sane in that moment, when the god hand offered him power, then he was never sane - you could probably make the argument that someone who wantss his own kingdom while being born as commoner, is kinda insane. And broken, well he wanted to kill himself, so you got a point here.
