Wasteland 2 breaks $2.5M

Following the great new concept art and the Ask Me Anything Q&A, with $2,431,203 from Kickstarter and $68,910 from Paypal, the Wasteland 2 drive has passed its $2.5M goal with three-and-a-half day to go. $3M is not unthinkable with the expected final-day spike.

So many Wasteland 2 news... When will the forum be renamed to No Fallout Allowed? :P ;)

Crni: AFAIR they are supposed to release a modding kit at this stage of pledged money.

2.5m. You put me to shame, Brother None. And I am glad you did :)

Heh, thought of this too :)

But, in my view, the real Fallout ceased to exist after FO2. FO3/NV were good games of their kind, but WL now being a very real perspective, makes FO3 or even NV look much less relevant to NMA.

That's how I would explain the WL hiatus here. And it is good! :)

Last time we had a big lul in Fallout news (after Van Buren before Fallout 3), we had to post on crap like the Fall and weird post-apoc MMOs and shit. Be glad we have Wasteland 2 now, we normally don't have something to be this excited about.

And it should be pretty clear the plan is for NMA to focus on both Fallout and Wasteland from here on out.

Man it was just a joke. :( Ofcourse I know that there is not much Fallout related lately to post.

Also, why is "The Fall" crap? It might not be very good, but it is a decent game. I personally much rather have balanced news about this game or that game instead of bombardements of game XY , even though I like reading Wasteland news, so no complaint here.

As said, just a joke. :)

Haha. I thought it was a point worth talking about regardless, since it's about site direction and people should know what we're thinking in this regards.

I actually didn't play the Fall.

I remember when we posted about Hellgate: London.

We were actually looking forward to many tumbleweeds just a few months ago. Few things cooler could have happened.

The Fall has some really cool elements, even though it's RtwP - the world feels a bit fresher (kinda ironic seeing the setting) and it doesn't take itself very serious. I really enjoyed it back in the day, I was one of the lucky guys that wasn't affected by the major bugs that plagued the game. Nowadays, these bugs are all fixed in the "reloaded" version. You should really give it a try BN. :) Infact, you made me now looking to reinstall the game, FU!11 :P

And yeah, there is no real point to "discuss" wether there should be "too much" Wasteland coverage on an NMA fansite. Pretty much everyone here knows that Wasteland spawned Fallout in the first place, thus it should hold a special place in the community here, what now with Wasteland 2 especially.

I am just one of those bad guys who wants to wait till he sees some actual footage of the game until judgement will come. :D

Yes, there are some pretty good ideas. Still, that rotating 3D camera centered and locked on a selected character is a pain in the arse, it drives me crazy! Also, last part of the game seems to be unfinished somehow. Empty maps short of any decent idea, plain dialogues, obviously the developers were running out of time. :(
I have bought the game, finished it once and never touched it again.

What's up with the "Kicking it Forward" deal? KS is pulling the logo off project pages due to "donor confusion" (from the Sherlock Holmes page):

Dave Marsh said:
The kickstarter staff has sent an email mentioning that there is some donor confusion over the Kicking it Forward campaign and asked that we remove the badge from the site.

Edit: Apparently this is the whole message:
Hi, this is Cindy from Kickstarter. How's it going?
I'm writing today because I noticed that your project has joined the Kicking It Forward campaign. Cool!
While it's great that you're committing to support the Kickstarter community, the Kicking It Forward badge has led to some confusion with backers and other creators. We've been hearing from backers who are unsure what it means, and creators who feel pressured to include it without knowing much about it. People can't tell whether it's an official Kickstarter thing or not.
We don't want to stand in the way of a grassroots effort, but we're concerned this is causing more harm than good. So we're asking everyone who's participating to remove the badges from their projects. If you want to still participate in the campaign you are absolutely free to, however we're asking that this be done outside of Kickstarter itself. We appreciate it.
Thanks so much for being a member of our community, and for launching your project with us. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Cindy

I'll guess people aren't able to read, which generated the confusion Cindy is talking about.

I don't give a damn about Fallout 3 by Bethesda but Fallout New Vegas was a game I enjoyed a lot and for me it remains relevant even as NMA expands its interests and moves slightly away from Fallout.

While I am curious what Wasteland 2 will be like I will probably always remain a child of Fallout.

59 hours to go now and still hovering at $2.5 million.

Kicktraq predicts it will end up around $2.7, but who knows.

They're using a linear trend. It's added about 50-60K a day and will end in $2.7M only with no ending spike.

It will have an ending spike, it's just a question of how much. It's currently at about $2.6M total (KS+PP). A $400K ending sprint to reach $3M total is realistic.
