Wasteland 2 screenshot and tidbits

It looks really great. Not as pixelated and "rusty" as old games, and it has this cartoony feeling you all described that is within all 3D-iso games post-2005, but it looks great.

The overall setting of the pic, the palette and the models, as well as the characters, make me think of Fallout Tactic. So, pretty excited.

I don't think Fargo should let us chose which palette we prefer in game options, the best would be they work carefully on one palette and work on the game so that everything looks good with it.

They'd only have to add in-game filter options, not redo every art asset. The first Far Cry had this and it worked well.

From a guy that is not really following the Wasteland 2 forums:

Ladders!

Request to the devs (if you're reading)
It would be cool to see this with projection=orthographic on the Main Camera

Yup, Unity does have a lot of great post-processing effects, I'm sure we'll be satisfied.

It's too stuffed with stuff. Less is sometimes more. The american flag sucks, what is it for on the roof?

Well, there is obviously a lot of work and tinkering ahead. For me, I like what I see, though, as someone noticed, characters are indeed somehow strange and terrain looks not fully finished (those cactus/cacti look somehow alone, maybe some type of desert "grass" would be appropriate? Take this with a gain of salt - I have never saw real cactus in the open, so what do I know). That's only strange things that I noticed, the rest is satisfying for this early presentation. There is not much of game atmosphere present, but that can/should come later.

The screenshot is nice but I'm more pleased with that back-story how unity's market speed-up whole development process. It's nice to see that game-engine will not be a such obstacle to spend more resources on actual elements that are crucial for an RPG game. Some more info about this subject maybe could be interesting.

All in all, mainly pleased. Fingers crossed.

And yeah, the flag... Somehow provincial.

What the fuck are you doing caring about graphics? Graphics do not matter AT ALL. Wasteland 1 graphics could do.

Story and choice and maturity and music and skill system, etc. are the game here!!

it's looks like this my fast screenshot combination from here:

It looks pretty good for alpha. I'm not too concerned about the graphics though really. The character models do need some work, but that is to be expected considering how early this is.

I didn't give them the full price of a triple A title in "hope-this-turns-out-great" money for Wasteland 1 graphics.

Also, well played DartGarry.

I don't really have any problem with this at all, considering it's an alpha shot.

Character models could use a little work? Sure, I suppose. Too bright? Not really. If it were less saturated I wouldn't mind so much either, but I think it's a refreshing change from the ubiquitous grey desaturation of run-of-the-mill PA stuff. More dust? Sure, I'll take that.

Saying it looks like a Pixar movie is supposed to be a criticism? Cars was a pretty ho-hum kids story, but it looked superb.

I want to see a broccoli forest.

I've seen crisper textures. Is it true that they'll be porting it to consoles? That might explain it.

Where did you hear that? They've always said it won't be ported to consoles, and at most it might come to tablets.

Well, it's an Alpha Screenshot, when has an Alpha ever reflected EXACTLY how the game will be in the end?

very nice graphics for an isometric game. i just wish the system reqs. won't be so high that my antique machine can run smoothly.

I'm happy with this, and look forward to being immersed in this world. Thankyou to all who funded this project.

I think it looks great. too early to tell how the overall artwork of the game will be, but if this is any indication then I'm satisfied. it feels like a middle ground between dark/gritty realism and cartoonish sci-fi, which was pretty much what I expected.

someone mentioned Fallout Tactics, and I have to agree. always loved how that game looked, and this may turn out pretty similar.
