The Shawshank Redemption

Reservoir Dogs

Ring

Audition

Ghost Dog
(I link this one because it's a mad little film and everyone should see it.

Appleseed (Anime)

Black Hawk down is a horribly awful movie.

"What, do you think we will adopt American democracy? That the killing will stop? No way! That's the way we do stuff over here!"

And for the entire rest of the movie there's people shooting rifles.

Idiot scenarist. Extremely idiotic movie.

A short disclaimer: I am painfully aware that the majority of my favourite movies are widely believed to contain significant amounts of the suck. However, my standard definition for a good movie requires (in order of importance); violence and a general disregard for the sanctity of life, guns, explosions and witty one liners. As long as at least two of these criteria are fulfilled in sufficient quantities, it is an awesome movie.

In no particular order:

Armageddon
Top Gun
We Were Soldiers
Predator
The Rock
Heartbreak Ridge
Man on Fire (the new one, with Denzel)
Boondock Saints
Blade II
Brother

Hmm, too lazy to put them in order, even if I could:

<ul>
[*]Eraserhead - 1977
[*]Dr. Strangelove - 1964
[*]Nostalghia - 1983
[*]A Clockwork Orange - 1971
[*]The Thing - 1982
[*]Natural Born Killers - 1994
[*]Once Upon A Time In The West - 1968
[*]Nineteen Eighty-Four - 1984
[*]Mulholland Drive - 2001
[*]Nosferatu - 1979
[/list]

This is a tough one-

Chinatown
Psycho
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Miller's Crossing
The Thing (1982)
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Evil Dead
The Wild Bunch
Fight Club
The Blues Brothers

Those are the ones that come to mind.

Alien

Aliens

Alien 3

Casino

The Green Mile

The Butterfly Effect

Trainspotting

Léon

Road to Perdition

Der Untergang

Star Wars 1-6
Gladiator
The tenth kingdom
On the beach
Taxi 1-3
Scary movie 1,2
Scream 1-3
Indiana Jones 1-3
Final Destination
The Saw

Scary Movie 1-3 were quite good, but the Scream movies I found quite boring. They were fairly well written, but the storyline was much too predictable as most horrors go.

Dr Strangelove
Clockwork Orange
Barry Lyndon
LoTR - FoTR
The Wall
platoon
Amadeus
Star Wars IV-VI
Seven Samurai
Der Untergang

All six suck donkey balls, sry :)

I don't have 10 favorites. I just pick The Shining and stick with that one since it's probably the only horror movie I've ever seen executed correctly and efficiently.
