Same with Captain Kirk going down on all the missions. Not really a smart thing to do in a potential combat situation to let your highest ranking officer be exposed like that. There was one episode of TNG where Picard piloted a shuttle out on a dangerous mission for no other reason (I think) than Stewart directing the episode so he could focus on the crew.

I have to agree with Crni with regards to the TNG films, while I liked First Contact I felt they progressively got worse as they went on, the one directed by Jonathan Frakes was particularly painful. Mr Plinkett tears them a new one, for all the Red Letter Media fans.

I'll have to watch those some time. Didn't know he did some for Trek.

Just watched Generations for the first time since I was a kid. I still think it is a good Trek movie. It didn't focus too much on action like some of the others and it even featured some decent cameos from some of the TNG Klingons like the Duras sisters and Brian Thompson who played a Klingon in TNG as well. There were moments that were there purely for newbies to the series like the crew explaining Trilithium crystals for the first time like they never heard of them somewhat but that is to be expected. I know the lore was fudged a bit too. Some might not have liked Data with the emotion chip but I think it added some much needed humor. Plus Guinan was in it and I always loved her character.

Is it just me or did the Duras sisters have nice tits? Which was kind of confusing, because their dental situation was a fiasco and the cranial ridges thing is not usually my cup of tea. They did have kind of a 90s metal-chick vibe going on though.

Generations could have been better, First Contact could have been better (well I would have just dropped the whole time travel stuff and just make it an exciting story in the TNG present in which Picard and the Ent-E crew have to stop some new Borg plan), but I don't think Insurrection can be fixed. The premise was poor to begin with.

Nemesis wasted a great premise for a Star Trek movie; Picard and the crew bringing the Federation and Romulan Star Empire together.
It could have been like the "Undiscovered Country" but for the TNG crew and Leonard Nimoy could have made a final appearance as Spock, his unification effort finally starting to bear fruit.

I would not say it would have to be the same storyline of course.
Perhaps something about the Romulans invading Vulcan and what is gearing up to be a new Federation-Romulan War only for Picard and his people to discover there is third party behind this all, trying to weaken and destroy both civilizations.
(I guess it may sound a little like Nemesis but I would have dropped the whole clone nonsense and trying to cope the Wrath of Khan rip off about yet another madman with a super weapon)

I really like everything until Voyager but if I had to pick an absolute favorite I would probably pick DS9. Even though it started off as a lamer Babylon 5 over time I feel like it just got super interesting and I would definitely list Odo as one of my favorite Trek characters right up there with the big ones. I know DS9 isn't as exploratory as most Trek is but I actually like it for that reason it was quite different but the same in some core ways.

My mind just took a photon torpedo to the front deflector shield. Shields down to 30%.

Wow, that I the resident EU Trekkie did not catch any rumors about this before.
On the one side this sounds pretty awesome to play as it sounds like an even more involving version of Star Trek Elite Force and Star Trek Bridge Commander.
On the other hand, it is in the universe of the new movies which I absolutely don't give a shit about.

I have feeling however that this game will be only reasonable popular at best as a lot of people still probably are not going to play it or will play it in the wrong way, wanting to shoot things and thinking the exploration and diplomatic stuff is rather boring.
Or Ubi will focus on that as a target group, meaning that this will be even less of a Trek game.

As for this article's writer's question: http://www.pcgamer.com/ubisoft-announces-four-player-co-op-star-trek-vr-game/

The article notes that the bridge of the Aegis will be "90 percent similar" to the Enterprise. My question: why not just make it the Enterprise? That's what absolutely everyone in the entire world wants. Everyone wants to be on the Enterprise. Just make it the Enterprise!

Though this is not the iconic Enterprise I can understand why Trekkers would want this game to take place on that ship, but then people want to be Kirk or Spock, and how many of these people can genuinely roleplay?
