What was the Funniest Argument You've had with a Bethesda Apologist?

I never understood the "It's a bad game of this series, but it's still a good game overall" argument.

What they mean is that if the game were a brand new series or a game from a different IP, it would be good. But compared to previous games in the series it's bad.

Even then...Fallout 4 falls pretty flat on its own.

I mean compare it to STALKER.

I never understood the "It's a bad game of this series, but it's still a good game overall" argument. Like people saying Fallout 4 is a bad Fallout game but a good game overall, how can it be good? If It's a bad game in its own series, so it's automatically bad overall.

It's a good game overall when it's compared to games from other series? That's means nothing, the game needs to be compared to the games of its own series.

The only exception i can think of where this would make sense is if the game is the very first of its own series, then it can be compared with other series because it still has no other games in its own series to compare itself to. This doesn't apply to Fallout 4 because there's already 4 main games to compare to.

"I really loved this game, but I don't want to look like I like it too much - so it's an 8/10 for me." - Bethesdian Forumite

Any argument where the bethesdrone mentions nostalgia. I'm 16, and I played the isometric Fallout games after the first-person ones... Nostalgia!

Basically, whenever the bethesdrone is too arrogant to accept people that have different preferences. They may like an FPS, but I want a good RPG.

Same boat here, I played 3 and NV before 1 and 2.

I say '1 and 2 are fucktons better' and all I get are responses like "take off your rose tinted glasses, they aren't THAT good'.

I didn't grow up with such games, I grew up with Ratchet and Clank, and fucking Jaws Unleashed.

Bethesda forums haven't changed one bit.

A friend and I have gone back and forth quite a bit with Fallout 3&4. I honestly wish I had a funny unique story to tell but his arguments for the game was always that he'd just ignore anything that made the game look bad.
The amount of mental gymnastics he'd do to justify Bethesda and their half-hearted attempts at this series is simply mind blowing.

One of the more memorable arguments I saw was a guy who would reference both the wikia and the fallout bible for evidence, and moments later argue against the credibility of the same sources in a different post.

Recently i've been arguing with a Bethesdrone over the origins of Advanced Power Armour. Their argument boils down to having APA be pre-war is "cool". I guess it's funny how like children they can be.

Oh god. I'm sorry you haf to go through that.

I've essentially given up on ever looking at any Fallout content as a whole now. The only Fallout content I look at these days is this site and the Nexus mods site for New Vegas mods. That way, I don't have to deal with the Fallout tourists though at least, Fallout 4 is no longer trending so people have forgotten about it (outside the fansites and rare mention).

That's quite the mental gymnastics that guy was doing.

I recently got the argument that the set backstory for the Sole Survivor was perfectly fine because the other Fallouts gave you an origin point.

Not an argument, but this is the only thread where we can quote Reddit without it being cross-site trolling.

Recently? You mean you haven't heard that one a thousand times already?

The "It's ok that your entire backstory is prewritten, 'cause the Vault Dweller came from a Vault" excuse has to be one of the most commonly called numbers in Bethesda fanboy bingo.

Isn't the term apologist quite unapropriate ? I don't recall any of them making any kind of apology...
