What we'd like to see in New Vegas?

Hmm..., is it going to be in "Las Vegas"?

If it is, how about certain themed hotels that survived the bombs to become religious/tribal symbols? There are plenty of things to worship, i.e. the pyramid, New York New York, Caesar's Palace, the Mirage volcano.., etc.

We can even have a wizard of the Oz moment when a tribal/random guy/gal figured out how the ancient controls work, fixed it, (for the volcano or the statues) and decided to become a god/him/herself.

Just some random ideas.

I still haven't found a better game than Tetris.

You haven't played a lot of games, have you?

On the Contrary, Tetris is something that has alot replay Value compared to alot of games I've played recently, I've got a large collection of PS2, PC, and 360 Games I simply don't use anymore. Arcade games that ask you to beat a high score give you an ultimate goal that constantly keeps getting harder every time you reach that goal, and that keeps me playing it more than any other game in my Library. For 90% of my life I've had Tetris in some form or another, I abandoned FF7(It didn't appeal to me), Every GTA, Diablo, Fable, Doom, Guitar Hero, and even a Majority of Zelda games, yet I still play Tetris.

Chances are you've sold or let games you've beaten collect dust. Sandbox games aren't that good when you've got nothing to actually do in them, no ultimate goal, it's kind of a sad Euphemism for unemployment.

Have a few interesting locations with memorable characters instead of 100 pointless locations with barely any content.

And less fucking hostile critters. It's as if you would have 50 random encounters every time you travelled between cities in FO1/FO2.

High INT characters should have crippling social fear.

High intelligence doesn't imply autism. Although autism as a trait would be fun.
Oh right, Fallout 3 has no traits anymore.

Mind if I use that quote?

After giving it some thought, I'd like more low-level play in New Vegas.

You know, it's like you hang around in your Leather Jacket for most of the time and finding a Leather Armor would be something uber cool. Same'd go for weapons - pistols should lead the way, since they don't require much ammo and are quite reliable. Melee weapons should be a common sight among people of Wasteland and in your inventory (and in your use).

I am *so* tired of a world with barely any civilization at all be full with 5.56mm ammunition for miniguns and fusion cells for laehzer weapons. And an abundance of these weapons. I sincerely hope we won't see hordes of people dressed in Combat Armor and higher, running around with top-notch weaponry AGAIN.

I'd be happy if Power Armor suits were as rare as Uranium Ore, so there'd be like one or two places were there are a couple of those suits. Bet on make-shift stuff, armor you can make from materials found in the wastes. like a Leather Armor with a kevlar vest fragments sewn in.

Go with quality instead of quantity. I don't need 150 suits of diffrent armor, if they'll have 5% of diffrence in damage reduction and a diffrent colour. Make balanced weapons, so you have a reliable pistol and a rifle with you for most of the time, with an update in a couple of points in the game.

And a better crafting system, so you can reinforce your armor yourself or put a speed loader on that Magnum .44.

I hope for a Mark Morgan soundtrack. I would rather go deaf than listen to more generic epic music.

And some classic weapons from FO1. 14mm pistol, yes?

And the ability to make your own armor from scraps of metal would be interesting.

What you said.

One thing I was thinking is the re-appearance of primitive gunpower weapons. Flintlocks, muskets, derricks, carbines, repeating rifles, wild west revolvers, hand cannons... the works. Also bayonets attachments for close combat situations. Crossbows would be welcome.

Molotov Cocktails should get a good role. There ins't a lack of alcohol in the Fallout Universe. They should be pretty popular amongst gangsters and thugs.

Also would like to see a home-made Nordenfelt gun for low-level big gunners. Think of it as a Poor Man's Minigun.

What about bullets having a "durability" bar or something? Remember in Mad Max when Max used some old shotgun bullets? This kind of thing.

Weapon upgrades were sorely needed in Fallout 3. Laser sights, lanterns, expanded magazines, night sights, bayonets...

Well except old Fallout game mechanics, there are a couple things that would be nice to see. Las Vegas in my mind is approachable from two point of views, the high tech way, Las Vegas being after all a pretty high tech place , power being received from possibly from Hoover Dam (although It can be pretty hard to explain how it didn't get nuked), or the low tech (but not too low tech I mean 200 years passed since the war, so there should be some technology present on the level of the 1900's at least if I can make a very rough estimate), anyway it all will depend of how the game will be handled, with a world map, or the F3 way. Anyway some ideas circulated around here sound nice, like no militarized factions, which even if present they should be in a more undercover way. There shouldn't be any mutants=bad, concept, although prejudices should play an important part in the game. Heck they could even solve the super mutant sterility problem once and for all (yeah I know what the Bible sais). This is one thing that really bugged me in the originals, because it effectively kills of super mutants as protagonists, in possible future games, game makers having to recycle the old FEV vault motif for the hundredth time, just to keep them in the game. And as I said before in one of my post, it would be interesting to, insert are 51 as a possible location, in a way similar to the Sierra arms depot, but with no aliens, I mean no more aliens than in F2 (skynet having been built with the help of scavenged alien technology  ).

Oh and there is one thing the original fallouts kinda lacked, meaning more quests involving stealth, which make the power armor kinda redundant (it being more of a heavy infantry armor), instead have something high tech, commando grade, but not as powerful, but more stealthy (sadly the Chinese commando stealth suit being the only one that comes in my mind).
Also some quests should limit the use of some armors, like for (example, if you accept a job as a deputy, you should also have to use some kind of more standard uniform, or if you are sent to assassinate somebody, that should be kind of hard accomplish in a full suite of power armor without being noticed), this making the player rely more on his skills then his possibly overpowered equipment. Oh and combat wise inserting dual weapon wielding would be nice, ok not Rambo style (with two heavy machine guns) or matrix style like I heard it was done in the BOS, but it would make sense for someone wanting to play the game trough only with pistols, relying more on agility than strength, thus compensating for the lack of fire power that can come from the use of larger guns.

I agree with all the stuff previously said (no Enclave. BOS)

A pack Brahmin, sure caravans can do it, why not you?

No houses, you are a wanderer, you should be wandering.

I'd like to see something similar to Kotor 2's Item mods, where you can upgrade your weapons.

Different ammo types.

A decent ending, with actual consequences to your actions.

Groin shots, you forgot the groin shots, damn it !! :) And with the appropriate animation, hehe.

How about poisoning? It was like in Fallout 3 all the radscorpions sterilized themselves. And illness, I know there's the radiation sickness, but if you're going to eat a whole freakin' can of Pork 'N' Beans, 200 years old or not, you're going feel that sucker want out. It will lower stats and make your character less reactive in combat.

Also, I liked the concept of the repair system in Fallout 3, they should improve that. Instead of just the same weapon or armor being able to repair only that specific weapon/armor, why not be able to take parts from other weapons/armor?

And the whole sleeping system bothered me in Fallout 3. Why can't I just sleep on the ground? Why do I have to find a soiled matress to sleep on? I mean, the entire place is just one big dump, why can't I just sleep where I please? Of course, it would be wise to choose a place that has some cover, as enemies will ambush you in your sleep if you're just snoozing in the middle of the wastes.

On the subject of sleep: how can sleeping for an hour fully heal you AND fix all broken bones? Bring back having to sleep for a couple hours, even days, to heal you, and of course longer when recovering from broken bones.

And don't just throw down a bunch of random useless items because they look good there. When I first saw the medical brace in Fallout 3, I thought I would be able to use it in some way (other than making one home-made weapon). With something like the medical brace, it should have been used to stabilize broken limbs, and only if you equip it then you'll be able to regain some sort of use in that broken limb (because still being able to run around and manipulate things with all your arms and legs broken doesn't make much sense).

And above all: Make a good game! :D Gotta say, I'm excited for Fallout: New Vegas, can't wait to see some screenshots or something.

How about that Alpha Protocol?

The previews of Alpha Protocol I've seen make it look really deep with complex faction, character/weapons customization and varied approaches. If the game is a deep as it seems, we should have hope!

Anyways stuff I'd like to see:

1. I'd like it to continue FO2 with the NCR and maybe remnants of the Master's Army. Maybe it's your job to help the NCR to take over and hold the area. (Though I'd also like to see Tactics Reavers some more and maybe intelligent deathclaws?)

2. Cool post-apocalyptic Hoover Dan.

3. I think I've heard this one a bunch. Maps which are more like the classic FO2 map with large areas which are generic/randomly generated between largish settlements/locations and fast travel is always an option when there are no enemies. Areas should be like the Pitt or Adams Air Force base surrounded by generic-ness which should be fast traveled across.

4. Vehicles. Walking between Needles and Las Vegas does not sound fun at all.

5. More powerful power armor which is weightless when worn (out of the box!!)

6. Real faction standing in addition to generic Karma.

7. Non-scaling enemies. Certain events could trigger the release of different enemies (i.e. Ravenrock), but just having enemy difficulty scale with character level is lame. They should be used as gates to encourage people to explore local areas like in the first 2.

8. More than one way to open a locked door! Explosives better implemented.

9. Mutant toes: Radiation exposure does things to your appearance and stats. Make Ghoulification possible.

10. Mental state affecting conversations and perception. Fallout3 touched on it a bit with some F.E.A.R.esque hallucinations, but what if wandering in the sun all day lead you to believe everybody was a radscorpion?

11. Maybe controversial, but I sort of like the quasi-turn based combat of KOTOR. I think is a good compromise between turn based and real time combat.

12. I wouldn't mind some sort of territorial aspect to the game and your actions help expand some factions influence. i.e. clearing a location of Raiders keeps them from spawing and spawns some other faction. Of course you would also have to help hold your territory. I thought this was a very fun aspect of GTA3: San Andreas. I had the feeling this was supposed to implemented in FO3, but was cut. (See the battle between super mutants and Talon Company and Tenpenny Tower. )

13. Bring back Outdoors-man Skill! It should determine random encounters in point 3 and how well you deal with the blistering heat!

14. Revamp S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and damage a la all the other comments which have been made previously. I want my skull crushing depth back! Maybe give the option of a simplified mode for the cretins.

Here's a few things I demand to see:

- Bring back the old skills (or at least the gambling skill)

- GAMBLING MINI-GAMES! (Tragic, Poker and such)

- BETTER STORY, DIALOGUE & VOICE ACTING (these made me puke in FO3)

- Las Vegas crime families, just like in New Reno. (make 'em kick-ass-cool. Just the name "Mordino" give's me the chills!)

- Change the game-engine (not gonna' happen', I know...)

- New weapon repair system. I've been thinking of a V.A.T.S style repairing: you could high-light certain peaces of the weapon (grip, slide, trigger, etc.) and then you could take those parts off the weapon and replace them with better parts (kinda' complicated but sounds cool, huh?)

- HOOVER DAM!

- Better power armor

- Option to just sit in a bar and get wasted in sort of cinematic way (understand? propably not...)

- Every item has some use

- WHORE-HOUSE! (New Reno flashback... *sigh*)

And that's about it... for now...

Give us true feel of bombed out world. In F3 we had blasted out white house but few steps away there were houses safe and sound. Ridiculous.

Feel free, After you've done everything in a sandbox game you just become that creepy guy that just wanders around town with nothing better to do. Or the last man in Post-war California, if you get that bored.

New feature Idea by the way: I Do agree that the town shouldn't be gang infested, however I Also believe a majority of the buildings you enter will HAVE to be casinos(It's Las Vegas for christs sakes) or Drive-thru confessionals and Instant Wedding churches(Perhaps we should have a Father Handy), however not all Casino's should be gang run. Some people seem to believe that I think new vegas should be new reno 2, that is not at all what I've been saying about NV, I'm just not very optimistic. Whilst I have admitted to New Reno Being my favorite town in fallout 2, I do not think that concept should be used. Fallout 3 has been expanded to people who have never played the series before FO3(I finally found the collection in stores a month or so ago), so New Reno 2 would not be bad for sales but still, it would be a move excusable only as blatant douchebaggery, and a disregard for loyal fans of the series, to embrace the masses of children who are to young to have even seen Fallout 1 & 2, and drag them into a burnt out van near central park to be fed recycled crap that was once 24K gold..

OK, except everything else anyone said before :

Bosses, yeah... big, or just really strong guys/chicks that are hard to get to, hard to defeat and leave something really good, rare or unique behind.

More races, like troggs or slags (they are meant to be somewhat basic humans, but changing them a bit would be a dash of fresh air).

Diseases... a post-nuclear world and every-single-one is healthy as a horse (except radiations caused poisoning and mutations). Making diseases could be an extra obstacle for the player, having more problems to deal with, like blurred vision for a longer period of time, loss of hearing, harder walking, lowerage ( I didn't know what other word to use, English is not my native language) of some s.p.e.c.i.a.l. attributes while diseased and finally, finding the cure for those diseases would make it more fun ( gathering some mutated roots, flowers and such) for the player.

Marriage... like in fallout2.

More unique and quest-based items.

I think that is all, if I think of something else, I'll write it down.

Letting players choose their character's race is a good idea, but just the basic Fallout races (human, ghoul, super mutant).

I would like to see a more party based Fallout game. Create your starting party, or have all or most NPCs be recruitable. Of course, recruiting will be based on karma, speech, and perhaps luck, and player's should be aware of who they recruit. For example, it wouldn't be wise to just recruit some drunk off the street, as they won't be of much use to you in combat or situations outside of combat. And even there could be NPCs that have the potential to corrupt your other party members, so you shouldn't recruit a smooth talking Jet addict; there would be a higher percentage of your other party members becoming addicted to drugs and not performing all that well.

Not even just drunks/junkies could be a threat to you and your party if you recruit them. Just some real shady characters could rob you blind the moment you get out of a town and into the wasteland. Or your party needs a doctor, so you convince some doc to join you and he kills you in his sleep to harvest your organs and use the rest of you to keep a neighboring cave of Deathclaws happy.

Of course there will be beneficial NPCs you could recruit, like doctors who aren't after your juicy spleen. Your average fighters, to people who are obsessed with you and will throw themselves in front of danger to protect you (or you know, dogs, but I guess a dog could just hate your guts and is only there because you have meat jerky, or bring back Pariah Dog  ). You know, there are extremes on the spectrum, and of course just normal people.

Oh, and there should be cats. :P

Cats are(or nearly are) Extinct in the fallout universe, because they're easy prey and thus easy food. I'm sure you remember that story you get EXP to hear at moms diner where the woman tells you about such a rare animal. I wouldn't label the cat eaters as bad guys, rather just really desperate people who needed to eat to add precious hours to their difficult undeniably short lives.(Surviving in the wasteland isn't easy for the regular joe's)

With little food available to a survivor, they will not commit an act of heroism, and avoid eating a little girls kitten, I hardly doubt any of us would avoid such a thing, if our survival truly depended on eating a kitten, hamster, or an awesomely cute wombat. No doubt we wouldn't be happy with ourselves for eating such cute animals, but being in a desperate situation changes your perspective and even justifies fried canary as 'post apocalyptic fried duckling'.
