Whats up with the fallout 4 hate

So this thread's topic is new Doom now?
From those gameplay trailer, too many why need to be answered.
Why shotgun shot only able to stun a lesser enemy rather than able to dispatch one sometime more enemy with one single shot like in good old Doom?
Why chainsaw become a one hit kill weapon with ammo limit rather than something can dispatch large numbers of lesser enemy sometime even large one like in good old Doom?
Why they must make the level so small rather than those large maze like level like in good old Doom?
Why the plasma rifle feel like something waste of ammo rather than something you need to use it to kill those big ass enemy like in good old Doom?
So many why need to be answered.

The answer to all your questions are "We need money." and "All the good devs left id years ago."
I am somewhat surprised by how bad it is though, I didn't play Wolfenstein but from what I heard it was great, they should've given Doom to MachineGames, they might've been able to do something with the property.

Not everyone here hates it, just the vast majority. And to be honest; that's fine. I myself like it, and I only take issue when people berate me for my opinion, when I respect theirs. Some of the "hate" it gets is incredible amounts of nitpicking at best, but it does have some very real problems that old school fans and new fans alike can agree on. Then you get the fanboys of the old ones that cry pure salt, the fanboys of the new games that think Todd Howard's blood is better than black tar heroin, and then there's the majority; the usually silent majority who don't care about forums and just play or don't.

Well, i don't like that since the new update, you HAVE to be online if you want to use mods.

Looks like shit, it's trying to hard to be gory.

So... do we want devs to try (obsidian) or not (bethesda)? I'm confused. Are you taking issue with them putting forth effort? I've never understood this criticism of this tries too hard. Always left like wtf does that even mean?

He is talking about new Doom.

I know. I was trying to challenge ''this tries too hard" status as an apparently valid criticism. Beth's just my go to example for a sec that just doesn't try. Obsidian is my go to example for Dec that does try.

I'd really like to just be able to open up the mind of someone who thinks Fallout 4 is good and just take a look around in there.

Just think the "gore kill" system is over the top, for starters it's all cinematic taking the control away from the player. Second, all the over the top gore killing looks really silly to me and could be better spent on aspects of the game that could really use work(and if what the people on the RPGCodex and what the gameplay videos are showing is right it's going to be absolute donkey wank). Some blood and guts can be fine if done right but not when everything is caked in blood and organs, becomes silly. It's supposed to be about killing monsters and demons with your arsenal at hand using skill not to see how many times you can cinematically break an enemy's jaw or rip out their eye in a gorey fashion. I'm not a Doom fanatic but this nonsense they've shown so far looks far from it.

So tried too hard means over the top.
Got it. Thanks for the clarification btw.

Wouldn't make sense to you even if you could. Too alienating of a concept. It's like me and football (soccer), I can't for the life of me understand how anyone would find it remotely interesting to see a bunch of overpaid twats kick around a ball. Oh my, they scored, that's good? Why? It doesn't affect you in the slightest and your life won't really be any different because they scored or not. There's no humour in it. No drama. Maybe excitement? The thrill of seeing one team beat the other? I got news for you then, maybe you ought to try hang-gliding or mountain climbing or bungie(?)-jumping. I mean, if you're looking for thrill and excitement then why not take it all the way and actually do something yourself to get your adrenaline pumping.

Yet, billions of people are into various dumb sports that are just pointless and mean absolutely fuck all. At least in MMA you get to see someone get the shit beaten out of them, see human frailty as well as how barbaric and brutal we can be. At least with trick-shots you can see amazing feats of someone throwing or kicking a ball through a hoop or something that seems impossible.

But a bunch of fit twats running around on a field kicking a ball and going "OUCHIE!" the moment a butterfly lands on them? It's absurd. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would find that shit interesting.

And yet, probably at least a billion people do. And that's way more than the people that enjoy a Bethesda game. Some people simply enjoy strange stuff that doesn't make any sense to you but clicks really well for them. With Fallout 4 I guess it is about the carefree nature of it. You don't have to worry about a big quest or anything. Simply play and enjoy. Here's a sandbox map full of distractions to keep your brain in a zombiefied state, here's some twitch shooting combat that requires no thought but base instinct. And the stories of Fallout 4? They're designed that way too. There's no conclusive whole but rather a bunch of little distractions to pass the time.

Fallout 4 is for those that just want to kick back after a day of hard work and just enjoy some carefree gameplay. Understanding the mind of a Fallout 4 player is easy. It's people who like sports that are far too alienating to me.

TL;DR People who watch football like Fallout 4, they're all time wasting twats that spend their worthless lives watching and playing the least intellectually and physically stimulating entertainment on the market.

It's basically three paragraphs of text (if you squeeze together the three small ones into just one paragraph), if you can't read that then maybe a forum ain't for you.

@Izak
No no no. I'm not saying that Football and Fallout 4 is connected. I'm saying that trying to understand why someone who plays Fallout 4 find it to be not just entertaining but top game of the years material too can be far too alienating to the point that even if they did open up you'd be left with your mouth hanging open in confusion. Like me when it comes to something like football.

I have an interpretation for why someone would find Fallout 4 fun but finding it to be greatest game of all time kind of fun? That is too alien for me. Like Football.

Ugh, I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the vast majority of video game consumers are brain dead sheep.

Although I do enjoy encountering individuals capable of holding a conversation with a vernacular larger than awkward grunts and screaming at the top of the lungs.

Why does that fit almost perfectly with what Lieutenant would most likely say in a situation like this?

My biggest problem with new Doom is that all the weapons sound like shit, and that gun feedback in general is just plain bad. All of them look like they feel really plink-y. Some of them even are. Three shotgun blasts to kill a regular zombie. Fuck that.

When they said they took some inspiration from Brutal Doom, it sounded promising at first. But if the guns are weaker to facilitate getting Glory kills, I wish they wouldn't have bothered.
