Favorite = Dumb and Dumber.

anything else with Jim Carrey is good too.

I liked Dumb and Dumber, but anything else from Jim sucks. Talk about a guy who needs riddlin.

The Matrix, Jurassic park1, Braveheart, Gladiator, Lord of the rings(The books are a lot better tho, at least if you like to read..), haven't seen any of the classics like citizen kane or most of the other films mentioned by Kharn(not much of a surprise as im just a teenager...)Lawrence of Arabia by the way, one of my favourite movies when i was younger, saw it twice or thrice...And star wars ep. 5&6...

Heh... There are too many movies I can say I like best... I can't decide... I saw a lot of my favorites in Kharn's post.

Still, if I had to choose one, it would probably have been Dr. Starngelove.

I like any film with a good car chase, something with lots of car crashes, explosions, and violence. My top five films are here:

You should check out 'The French Connection' if you havent seen it already. One of the best car chase scenes ever.

gangs of new york

Gangs of New York was fantastic and terribly underrated.

Damned be you people that either hate Dicaprio too much to see his acting skills or those that like the world to be painted white vs. black good vs. evil (Matrix/Lord of the Rings anyone?) as opposed to the vague lining of GoNY.

GoNY forevah.

Can't wait 'till RCV releases it here. It'll be one of the prides of my DVD collection (which contains a lot of prides, amongst which Fight Club 2-DVD, Godfather 5-DVD box, Seven Samurai)

PS: Ghost Dog is a bit underrated, but it's easy to overrate as well. It's a great "mood capturing" flick and quite a piece of work. And it has Forrest Whitaker (YAY!), but it lacks a bit in story and, mostly, point.

Naw man.. Although a good deal I do own in dvd or vhs format..
whilst others I rented, viewed at a friend's house, or in the theater.. I just think they are decent enough to list.

I like all movies by/with Woody Allen, because just like him I'm a little, neurotic dork (with a bad haircut - lol). My favourite Allen films are:

(1) Take the money and run
(2) Bananas
(3) Play it again, Sam!
(4) Sleeper
(5) Annie Hall
(6) Manhattan
(7) Zelig
(8) Broadway Danny Rose
(9) Shadows and fog
(10) Deconstructing Harry

My other favourites are:

(1) The Time Machine (the old one, guys, the one by George Pal from 1960 with Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux... hmm... Yvette Mimieux...)
(2) Blade Runner (Director's Cut)
(3) Hellraiser series
(4) The Sting (with Robert Redford in his best role)
(5) Eraserhead (nightmarish wet dream by David Lynch)
(6) Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb

Hm. I also have a large amount of adult movies that I watch very frequently, but those can not really be considered 'quality cinema', they're recreational flicks. Yeah, every man carries his own burden...

Blade Runner, have you seen Love and Death? That movie is hilarious. I'd say Annie Hall is Woody's most classic.

About Gangs of New York...man, I like Leo, but his acting in that movie was so uninspired. That character was a total throwaway, waste of screen time. I love Leo in The Beach, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and Basketball Diaries, so I'm no hater, but GoNY (his performance and the movie) was dissapointing.

No, Paradroid, I haven't seen "Love and Death" yet. That one's from 1975 and I can't find it anywhere in Belgium. I definitely believe you when you say it's hilarious, since all Woody's early movies are close to slapstick. I haven't seen "Stardust Memories" either for the same reason (can't find it anywhere), but a lot of people tell me it's Woody's best picture.

Hm. I have to agree with you that "Annie Hall" is probably his most classic one (I think that is because he made that movie with his heart and not only with his wits...).

Agreed.

Perhaps, but even then Daniel Day Lewis far made up to it. True, the character played by Leonardo could've been done much better by several other actors, but I wouldn't call it bad either. 't was a bit cold and distant, but that was more in character than just uninspired.

Gangs of New York was a great film, but I had a little trouble with it's ending.
I'm not sure what excactly. I guess it's the way everything just turn up right and they both lived happily ever after.

The Empire Strikes Back

Definetly the best movie in the trilogy, obvious now to anyone who wasn't still a child when the friendly Return of the Jedi came out.

Uhm, what? Did you see an "alternative ending" or something?
