Where's the gas?

Dude, what the hell did I do now?
All I said is that I only warm my living room to save on the gas bill, that's it. And it's true. I didn't say anything else.

Sjesus... :?

it's in direct reply to a guy asking how the gas situation is going. as such, you're leading people to conclude that your country is affected by the whole thing, whereas you're simply saving money.

We have a gas crisis?

We will be eating beans to combat the crisis.

And don't blame me for the ineptitude of Polish energetic strategies. Blame Siley.

We will also plant osier willow on the fertile floodplains between the Vistula River and the Kampinos Forests.

Right after we demolish the abominable shanty town that lay there.

In Croatia government advised everybody to save on gas consumption. In factory where I am employed we had no heating for few days so we worked on -10 degrees in wet area. We froze our asses off, when ever we had a little free time we would group like penguins.

Damn Russians!

Hopefully the gas will start flowing tomorrow, if the russian AND ukranian leadership decide to follow the deal made today.

Honestly, if i had the choice, i wouldnt make any trade deals with authoritian state like Russia. You cant really trust countries that lack democracy, and are lead by selected few, not when it is something as vital as energy.
We should start being more energy independent, in case this happens again.

Aha...

So it seems like most have made up their minds again that Russia is the evil one in this argument again...

Where is Brother None if you need someone to preach some senses into you?

Yeah patton you are totally right that we shouldn't buy any gas form such an instable country as Russia...

We should totally rely on getting our gas from democratic and stable beacons of peace like : Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, Algeria, Nigeria...

How about the Ukrainian government stops to fuck everything up they touch?

How about they start paying their fucking bills?

How about they start paying the common world price for gas like everybody else?

How about they stop buying cheap gas from Russia and reselling it to Europe for a higher price to polish their own state budget?

How about this government starts to read their fucking gas contracts and start on negotiating an new contracts ahead of time and don't wait until its fucking winter again?

Sincerely,

iii

PS:

Patton, but you are right when it comes to energy efficiency and independence:

We should work on those fields, but I don't see how we will succeed in these fields any time sone.

And how about Russia stops thinking about being a superpower again, and conquering the ex-soviet states? This is so totally not something between the Ukrainian and the Russian, but Russia vs Europe... And it's Russia who is basically robbing gas from the small ex-soviet states, then reselling it to us... way to go, General Secretary Putyin...

Oh you mean the glorious former soviet republic of Urengoy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urengoy_gas_field

How about being a realist and you start to acknowledge that Russia isn't in the desolate shape (like in the 90s) anymore.

Russia isn't a superpower like the Soviet Union anymore, but for fricks sake it surely is a global actor.

But yeah, could write a letter to the Russian ambassador : "Please! Stop trying to become a Superpower!" (Uh, on what basis?why shouldn't they? tell that one to China and the USA, too!)

You know I am not all for Russia, but I tend to see and analyse the world like realists do.

The US and European mass media has some fucked up biased coverage of Russia all the time. Their news have the same kind of propaganda feeling to them like the news that is published in Russia.

Everyone here is still conditioned to see Russia as the big evil empire which wants to steal our daughters.

Ukraine fucked this joint up again, just like 3 years ago. But everybody is pointing at the evil Russians again.

I don't really see how you can argue power politics into this situation anyway.

Ukraine didn't pay the bills. Russia even offered ways to extend the contract in lieu of payment for the massive debt Ukraine accrued (like Ukraine shipping gas that goes through their country for free until such a value is reached as equals their debt).

What do you think happens when you stop paying the gas bills? Same thing, only bigger. Russia may not be a humanitarian landlord or anything, but it's hardly overreacting. You don't pay, you don't get anything. Capitalism baby.

Over here, if one can't pay the gas bill during winter, the firm that delivers the gas can't do jackshit. Belgium, baby. :D

dunno about gas, but electricity switched to another state owned firm, which sells energy for a very low price.

but even if you don't pay that, they won't cut you off.

if they notice that you CAN pay however, they'll just grab (some of) your pay... ;)

Finally someone who doesnt just tear russians appart. They are for sure not saints. But talking now about things like about Anna Politkovskaya ... oh well. That would explode the treat I guess.

Considering Russias rescent history this is untentionaly funny in some way.

Heh, didn't see this one coming apparently US is also to blame for this situation.
They also see the hand of the United States in Ukraine's intransigence.

On Tuesday, Aleksandr Medvedev, Gazprom's deputy chief executive, raised a new allegation, saying Ukraine had been taking orders from Washington after the US and Ukraine signed a partnership agreement in December that included a clause on energy co-operation.

Mr Medvedev did not explain why the US would seek to disrupt relations, not to speak of the gas supply.
