Who would you consider to be the badass in the Fallout Series?

Tarantulakelurk

First time out of the vault
Not the Player Character mind you.
In your honest opinion, what character would be the physical embodiment of Divine Retribution?
Who would walk into a massive gunfight between two opposing armys like the Terminator, and gun them all down one-by-one like the "Grim-f*cking-reaper" if your character wasn't around to do it?
My personal opinion is that it would be Marcus, the Super Mutant.

Marcus for one; Sheriff of Broken Hills.

Set certainly plays the part well; Ghoul leader in Necropolis.

The Lieutenant looks the part, but comes off a bit like middle management.

I am not sure Marcus fit with the description of badass.
If you are looking for a very powerfull & effective warrior, that is cool and has a legend surrounding him, that would be a guy like Joshua Graham or the Legate Lanius. I also think that Elijah & Rhombus could fit the bill amongs the ranks of the Brotherhood.
If you only keep the legend, that would be Caesar, The Master or Tandi, the three most known figures of the Wasteland.

About Marcus, i am not sure he is a total badass warrior. Beside his long fight with Jacob, we don't know much about his feats.
What i love about it is that he goes far beyond the simple posture "I am a SM but i am nice" and truly act to make SM and other humans live together, get along, and he makes sure it goes right. I really hope his character will get authority in a greater area in a future. (if he lives)
On the other hand, he makes all the other SM companions look pale in comparison.

Ulysses seems to fit the bill.

Extremely effective fighter, he's survived horrible disasters and horrible places, his home is a canyon filled with horrible mutants and high levels of radiation and he is somewhat of a myth around the Wasteland. That's not to mention he's traveled most of Post-Apocalyptic America, which is no easy task.

Plus, he's not your generic hard-ass character,he's humble and quiet and is quite the philosopher too.

Well, I'm not sure about the OG Fallout's, I'd have to think about that.

But for New Vegas, Ulysseus definitely. He's always been one of my favorite characters. I've never fought him, I always get my speech up to 100 before I hit the divide. I love fighting side-by-side with him.

Ulysseus is definitely one of the most 'badass' characters of Fallout. Then of course there is Lanius, but he just comes off more as insane than a badass. And he doesn't really have any skill except for brute strength.

Funny thing to, before I played Lonesome Road, I had decided that if I ever had a kid I would name his Ulysseus. Then I met the Ulysseus in the game, and reassured myself that's what I would name my son.

Also, I've always liked Raul. Not just because Danny Trejo voices him lol. He's more laid back. Instead of like some Fallout characters which are more outward in a "I'll kill whoever tries me", Raul is more laid back, in a simple "test me" kind of way.

The badass?

Well, in terms of sheer big bad badassery, nobody comes close to Frank Horrigan. He's like the size of a house, he has a gun of the specific type "big boss gun", how much more badass can you get!? His voice is monstrous, so even that fits the bill, he is ice cold, and mocks your efforts with his final words!
I mean, he is the only guy that gets me all fangirly even while he is telling me how much he is going to kill me :0

Apart from the most obvious, I always felt that Cassidy was the best warrior in terms of sheer productive finesse.

Frank Horrigan, the only person ever to have a fully auto plasma or pulse weapon.

Frank Horrigan, the only person ever to have a fully auto plasma or pulse weapon.

From a pure battle perspective, I don't see how there could be any other answer to be honest. A Super Mutant in Advanced Power armor with an automatic plasma cannon. He's got to be at least 10 feet tall, and might as well be a literal tank on the battle field. He can rip deathclaws apart with his bladed weapon. He's probably the single most formidable combative opponent in the Fallout Universe, even considering The Vault Dweller, The Chosen One, The Lone Wanderer and The Courier. Pity Horrigan more of a pawn with a nuke, though.

I would say some of the higher up BOS and Enclave guys (Rhombus, the Enclave sergeant voiced by R.Lee Ermy), Lieutenant, and maybe the master, except that he is not very mobile.

Frank Horrigan, I believe his exact answer to player character was : You're not a hero, you're just a walking corpse.

:D you can't get anymore badass than him.

Oh yeah, Frank Horrigan scores top slot in sheer, 100% pure bad-assery all around. I'd also suggest Cassidy, and Veronica from New Vegas--she was total badass too! Cassidy's daughter was fun, so was Boone, but they just don't quite match up to Cassidy!

Someone that hasn't been mentioned, which surprises me, is Jericho. I got him early on in Fallout 3 on my second playthrough, and that badass is a total survivor. Ex raider, just looking for an excuse to get back out there. Older, just like Cassidy, but still has that thirst for adventure. To be honest, Jericho could be labeled as the Cassidy of Fallout 3! Just imagine both Cassidy and Jericho fighting together? Even a freaking Behemoth would turn tail and run! Now give them Dogmeat and holy crap--even I wouldn't want to go anywhere near THAT!

I think Marcus is a badass too, but not in the same way that Horrigan, Cassidy, or Jericho are. He's more of a gentle giant, where the others would shoot you dead given the proper motivation. Another plus for Jericho is his smartass mouth. He fits the bill for a badass all around!

I love how nobody has said Butch LMFAO! He's not the badass, apparently, that he *thinks* he is :D :D Has anyone actually left him naked outside Deathclaw Sanctuary just for Lolz? :P

**EDIT**

OMG! I cannot believe I forgot one of my all time favorite characters--Sergeant DORNAN! He strikes me as the type that'd shoot first and ask questions later :D I could easily see him walk into a horde of raiders and come out with his plasma rifle smokin' and power armor stained with blood and brain matter.

I'd consider Cannibal Johnson far more of a badass than Sgt Dornan ever was. Dornan was hilarious to piss off, and quite the hardass, but that's just text-book drill sergeant for you. Nothing badass about it. But Johnson? Surrounded by Raiders and getting away is all but impossible, so he takes a big, showy bite out of a dead raider's heart to stun and horrify them long enough to make his escape? Sure that's not deadly, but that's pretty fucking God damned badass!

Would largely agree with the assessment that Marcus doesn't quite fit the bill. But then again, we never saw what he was like during the days of the Unity, or shortly thereafter when he met (and had a days-long tussle with) Jacob. Considering how epic that fight was described as, and the lifelong bond that resulted from it, Marcus must have at one point been quite the supreme badass. Not Horrigan material, but quite something to behold. =)

Randall Clark.
Survived Great War.
Kick assed Vault 22 Dwellers and feral ghouls, single handed.
Went to Salt Lake City like a boss.
Became damn god at the end of his life.
And his armour, masterpiece.

I'd call Gizmo more of a fat ass than a bad ass. But how about Tycho. Admit it, you never gave two thoughts about how bad ass he looked until seeing the rangers "fleshed out" in New Vegas.

I think it Would be Joshua Graham. He was suppose to be killed by Caesar himself and myths and rumors spread around about the "Burned Man" making him feared by even Caesar.
