Why no continuation with DLC installation?

First time out of the vault
If I remember correctly, after playing Fallout 3, you were able to roam and do other quests. This of course made it easier when DLC came out because you could just get the new quest and continue on.

I bought "Dead Money" without realizing that I'll now lose about 5 hours of playing and on TOP of that, I can't finish the game at all if I want to play further DLC's.

Does this make any sense!?!?

Should of done some research on what you were buying, it was never stated anywhere that it would let you continue post-main quest.

In F3 they released a DLC to play after the main quest.

Not to mention that Obsidian said that they have no plans to make a DLC that will let you continue past the ending.

The number of variables and changes to the game that would be required to continue past the ending wouldn't be viable for the DLC method they've been using anyway.

Or you could just, you know, reload a save you made before you went to Hoover Dam. That would make too much sense though wouldn't it?

They won't be making a way to continue playing after you beat the game unfortunately. Too many loose ends to tie up.

Yeah it wouldn't make sense for them to be like, "Caesar's Legion took over New Vegas, yadda yadda yadda, Arcade dies, Cass cries, Boone dies, evil Legate is evil, here you go you can keep playing and the world will be exactly the same as it was before the battle. Congratulations! Your actions have no impact on the world!"

I'd rather not have New Vegas become Fallout 3.

Ah. Well then I guess this is all my fault thinking I could continue without doing research on the game ending and dlc. I must be an idiot thinking that I could just continue since pretty much EVERY SINGLE GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED THAT HAD DLC LET ME CONTINUE AFTER THE FINALE! I guess it would be too much to expect. I mean jesus christ...just LOCK other area's down and only open up the area where the DLC is taking place and don't talk about anything that happened in the original game! This way you don't have to worry about the person's choices and what they did. In the current DLC they already dont' mention anything about the world other then the area you're in. This is not that hard! If other's can do it.....I'm just saying. And as far as I'm concerned it worked just fine continuing at the end of Fallout 3 with DLC.

C'mon...it cant' be just me.

That's not what Obsidian wants to do and they're not going to do it.

You might not be the only one who wants it, but it's not that likely you're going to get it anytime soon.

Can't be a lot then.

Could you list them?

Also, I don't understand the problem. You are warned when the game reaches the no-return point and after that there's...what?...an hour of gameplay? What's the difference if you roam around before the final battle or after? It's because you can't play the DLCs if you want to complete the game? Just keep a separate save, sheesh.

What are you even complaining about? you say you want to play after the finale yet you suggest they just lock most of the map except for a few zones, what the hell? why would you want that? just reload a save before going into the final battle, the game itself advices you to make another save file before going in, but I guess that would require to actualy read.

The only reason it worked fine with FO3 is because there were no concecuences to almost anything, they can just open you the map again and set you free, they just script a very small amount of NPCs to stay in front of the Memorial and comment on it, because nothing changed at all at teh end of FO3, with New Vegas on the other hand you have 4 radicaly different with various variations each, makign a DLC that takes all of them into account would be very dificult, it owuld almost be liek making another full game with "old save bonus".

This is not true, in Dead Money you have facts related to Christine, Elijah and returning to Mojave you have Veronica.

You can only side with Elijah after you altered a few things in the Mojave. Also, the dialogs for BOTH OF THEM depends of your actions in the main game related to some quests.
In Honest Hearts some dialogs with Graham also depends of you meeting Caesar, although the events in the main game don't have weigh like Dead Money.

I don't understand the big deal with the game having an end, honestly.

yeah but in the case of Fallout 3 it just means the boredom never ended.

I don't know how people can suck so much fun out of "sand box" games when all you do at some point is ... roam the wasteland killing random crap.

Vegas has tons of quest though. But even those are done at some point. Or most of them anyway.

I don't know, I have tons of fun...crafting things.

I'm becoming an crafting addict after HH, since I collect forks, spoons, metal cooking pots and made them scrap metal.
I grab every gecko meat from a gecko I've killed and make kabobs, kill brahmins for desert salads, jalapeño pepper for mole rat stews or the various poisons available.
If I live in the pos-apocalyptic Mojave, I would probably open a tannery or be a craftsman, I'm always tanning hides or making ammunition from other ammunition (22LR makes good 9mm).

Yes, it's weird, I know.

Sounds like you need some to make Fallout Fortress, or should that be Ghoul Vault.

Yes you are if you think you have a right to complain about something you didn't even bother to check up first. The infomation was there, you assumed, your problem.

Then what's the point, why have a continuation DLC if it would just transport you to a small area and has no reference to anything you just did? That's NOTHING like what Broken Steel did, what are you talking about.... having the Mojave completely unchaged whilst all of the actual after Hoover Dam stuff takes place somewhere else?
