Will Obsidian make another FO?

I hate how the number 1 downloaded mod is for titties. Makes me pine for the days of Morrowind, when modders weren't lonely nerds.

More than that, it surprises me that anyone would even want to see tits on such an ugly-looking engine. It's like wanting to see your grandma's tits.

This really shouldn't come as a surprise, people have been making nude mods for over a decade. Remember Tomb Raider? That was like... nerd ambrosia.

I still enjoy moments of comedy with all the terrible pornography mods they make for Oblivion, and now also FO3.

Making such a mod is already sad but the indifference of the NPCs around the the subject is hilarious.

I think sexually frustrated nerds have always existed.

As for the conversation, I'm betting Obsidian will be allowed to do Fallout 4 while Bethesda gets on with either Elder Scrolls 5, their MMO or some other new game or licence.

However, this won't happen until after Bethesda's next game, and their next game engine. This will then be passed to Obsidian for Fallout 4. It is the simplest and best choice for Bethesda.

It's possible Bethesda/Zenimax might even try to buy Obsidian.

Although if you go a step further back, you get Daggerfall, where you couldn't swing a flail without hitting a pair of pixellated tits.

there's no way Bethesda hands FO4 to Obsidian. at BEST they admit that they suck fucking dick at writing and absorb Obsidian into their writing or consulting team.

they *may* allow more spin-offs.

Doubt it. There isn't enough hatred for Fallout 3's story in the general gaming populous, nor enough love for New Vegas's. There have been a good number of reviewers who even prefer Fallout 3's story.

At best I could see Obsidian as the go too spin off developer, but I doubt Beth is going to give them full control, especially with the amount of controvisty going on over bugs (which is at least partially justified, even if Fallout 3 should have recieved a simular reception).

But whatever happens I think it's unlightly we'll see another Fallout for a good long while. Bethesda is lightly going to have ES5 as their next project. I suppose they MIGHT give Obsidian another Fallout to develop along side but I seriously doubt it.

I honestly am starting to hate modern game journalists and the 'new' Fallout fans Bethesda brought in.
Half the story was copy and paste job from much better games, but written by someone who only heard of them, and the other half was a badly written quest to find dad.

If I had the money or the influence I would just keep hiring Obsidian or another good developer to make Fallout games these people do not like, just to spite them.

They honestly deserve it, almost every media has to appeal to their pathetic tastes these days.

I don't think I'm ready to give up on game journalism just yet. The over all scores are high enough to indicate they're looking beyond the surface level veneer of things.

At first glance FNV looks to be just a mission pack for FO3 -- something akin to that, with all the bugs and dated graphics, certainly wouldn't be scoring close to 90% on metacritic (86% on PC, 84% Xbox and 82% on PS3 -- obviously I'm rounding on the PC score opposed to taking an average of these which would sit closer to the Xbox's estimate).

At first glance, yes. And that's what we say in the day-one reviews. Any more indepth, intelligent look should have more to say on it than that.

That's kind of my point -- most reviews I've read have looked beyond such superficial analysis, even day one reviews.

Good news: Chances are Bethesda will use id tech 5 (see Rage) for FO4.

Bad news: id tech 5 is only meant for ZeniMax developers to use and won't be freely licensed to outside software shops. That means Obsidian can't use it unless ZeniMax buys Obsidian, which most likely won't happen.

I think this may be the last Obsidian Fallout unless they get bought or an agreement is made that lets them use id tech 5 for the sole sake of making a Bethesda-published game.

Actually, Bethesda has already confirmed that they're going to use a new upgraded iteration of Gamebryo for their next title.

...maybe that means shadows? :|

I won't buy a future Fallout title made by Bethesda, regardless of what engine they use.
If this is the only one that Obsidian is going to make, I'll just play it for the next 10 years like I did with Fallout & FO2.

A shiny new engine won't sell me on a FO4 made by Beth, since I didn't give a shit about shiny in the first place and they've proven repeatedly that all they have to shine up is turds.

Luckily FO:NV is quite moddable so I see no reason to contribute my money towards Bethesda's attempts at further destruction of the genre and the fallout world.

If I want more quests/items/npcs I'll download them or make them myself. I'd bet I can do better than the untrained chimps working in maryland anyway.

New Vegas is selling well at the moment. Maybe enough to warrant another Fallout: City Name from Obsidian.

The whole mission pack idea is one of the silliest things the gamer zeitgeist has come up with.

You got it wrong. It won't be licensed to outside companies, but this just means that it won't be used in games not published by Bethesda. Even if they switch to id Tech, if Bethesda contracts Obsidian to make another game for them, they would be able to use it.

If I'm to believe what I've heard about the game Bethesda is currently working on, it's suppose to be a much bigger leap graphically than Oblivion -> Fallout was. Talk is that it will be quite impressive, but that remains to be seen.

If it's a newer version of Gamebryo, then it could be interesting to see how it turns out, but I remember all the talk about how the leap in visuals between Oblivion and FO3, and honestly it wasn't much.

I do not care who does it but whoever does do FO4 needs to make a story that is both expansive and immersive. [spoiler:ee2b4adc74]Enough of these ominous robo computers ... Yes even though Mr. House is an actual person ... that are a huge part of the main storyline[/spoiler:ee2b4adc74] I feel Obsidian did a good job with the factions however some of the quest lines for certain factions were short *cough*BoS*cough* Also being able to join a faction and perhaps even get to a certain point run a stronghold of that faction kinda like Baldurs Gate had ... Hell now that I think about it they did that in morrowind and oblivion as well! ... Maybe have people you could meet through out the wasteland that could offer a specific service for your faction and if you happen to run across them you could try to get them on board ... so many things you could do to make the game that much better. Also actually make technologically advanced things better but more Rare ... Power Armor should be Rare and something to crap yourself over if you actually kill the bad ass inside of it. There are only a couple of decent energy weapons end game and they all take up a veritable butt load of ammo to shoot it once. Oh wait the Gauss rifle LOADS of DAM but ... it often does 0 Damage when it connects with someone ... lame ... Also make characters a little more custom ... Ever notice everyone is same height and build? Glad my 10str looks just like my 4Str guy....
