Will you play Hardcore mode from the get go?

I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with having a compass or the quest markers (to an extent. Not the PLEASE WALK TO THIS EXACT SPOT) but having a marker on your map saying "YOU GOTTA QUEST HERE" is cool with me. Ditto the compass because it's, y'know, a useful navigating tool.

No compass? That sounds a bit extreme.

It's not like a compass is a totally unrealistic thing to have either when you're trekking through the wastes. It seems like a damn sensible thing to me.

Would it make people happier if you had to equip the compass to look at it instead of it being on the HUD? That would be kinda funny, but also a bit too much like the Flashlight in Doom 3.

It wouldn't be too big a deal if it was attached to the pipboy but I don't see why you can't have it on the hud. If you're going by shit you'd have to equip to use, you might as well make a blank hud and force you to check everything in the pipboy

I liked the flashlight in Doom 3.

In-fact, I'm probably the only one who liked it. It gave the game a great survival horror-y element.

In the same sense that Resident Evil's tank controls gave the early games a survival horror element.

Speaking of survival horror, is it just me or does it seem like it could be a fun thing to have Fallout done like Metro 2033?

Absolutely, I will play hardcore right from the start.
Now, if they would disable that stupid "enemies are weaker/stronger accordig to your level", I'd be even happier.

I will play with hardcore mode on eventually, but not on the get go. I am not a really good video game player and I will want to enjoy the story first on the first few playthoughs, only after that will I start trying to challenge myself.

Played stalker so yeah its hardcore for me from the get go.
Meh, Stalker was only really hardcore if you played it either with some mods that restored a lot of features or if you played it without any patches at all :D

I intend to give it a try, and see if it doesn't piss me off. Not that I think it would. I packed lunches and drinks in FO3 all the time, now my habit has meaning.

I always play games like Fallout multiple times to get the full experience.

I think i will play hardcore on my second playthrough.
