World Cup 2010 South Africa

I'll be supporting Nigeria.

I don't follow un-American football (:P ) at all, so who are some of the good players for Nigeria I should be looking out for?

Thanks.

Finidi George, Nwankwo Kanu, Sunday Oliseh, Jay-Jay Okocha.

Oh wait.

Btw, someone said it's gonna be a better tourney than PL-UA euro. While that may be, at least here you don't have to be scared you will be gunned down on the street in broad daylight. :@

John Obi Mikel, Nwankwo Kanu and Obafemi Martins are probably their star players. The squad is relatively low on talent, really.

Cool. I'm for Nigeria whether they're good or not.

I'm prepared to jump on the U.S.A. bandwagon, but only if they make it to the championship.

USA should be happy with performance way below getting to the finals. They don't have the talent to expect to get anywhere near that. Making the quarter finals should probably mean you had a very succesful World Cup.

Vamos Vamos Argentina Vamos Vamos a Ganar...

the problem with the team is Maradona (an idiot) and Mezzi (only care about money and dont like to play in Argentina)

A player wants to earn money and play in a much higher quality league! He's a bastard!
Wait, what?

Also, what's the difference between him and the dozens of other Argentinians playing in Europe? Do you think Tevez isn't there because of the money?

Meh. That won't cut it. :D
You're like a Lions fan not satisfied with anything but a Super Bowl appearance.

the diffent is that when playing in the Argentine team, Tevez put all he have, and Mezzi dont.

I have not problem if he want money but you cannot sell yourself and forget your own country

If he'd forgotten about his country he wouldn't be playing for Argentina at all.

I've never seen him play differently for the Argentinian team than for Barcelona.

All Argentinians have (except Maradona)

Tevez is a great player. Bad for me, since he always seems to be playing in a rival team I support. He played in Brazil's Corinthians, which is the rival team of Palmeiras, the team I support. And he's Argentinian. Damn haha, but he's a great player, one of the guys probably I always get afraid of see playing against my team.

The guys who play soccer for team USA knew what they were getting in to when they signed up. :)

Go Nigeria!

Zagooooo! He's still Palmeiras' coach I hope. He was my favorite defender when he played for Besiktas -the team I support-.

Too bad that Turkey couldn't qualify. The tournament won't be complete without the come back kings. On the other hand our failiure to qualify for the cup resulted in the resignation of Fatih Terim who wasted way too many good players... and now we got Hiddink.

No, he's not anymore haha. I liked him too.
Palmeiras is having some bad times lately, and we've been changing of coach a lot. Our last coach before the actual, had a great reputation, but he did a horrible sesson last year. This year's coach is doing a horrible sesson too. :(

So, the World Cup starts tomorrow.

I'm excited for it, though there are extremely few interesting matches before the knockout stage - Portugal-Brazil being the only high-profile match.

The Dutch have a solid squad this year. A ridiculous amount of talent at midfield and in attack, with Van Persie, Robben (Who is injured but will likely be back for the 2nd or 3rd group match), Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Kuijt, Van Bommel and De Jong. Truly an outstanding attack.
Unfortunately, defense is where it all falls apart. Gio van Bronckhorst has lost some steps and isn't close to the player he used to be, Mathijsen and Heitinga are decent but unspectacular defenders, and Mathijsen especially is prone to mistakes. And Van der Wiel is a young talent who's too inexperienced to be counted on.
