Xbox One vs PS4 What Console Is Better?

There is only 1 rule to this thread:
  1. No PC Master Race S**T Since that stuff makes my blood boil!
Also if you want to talk about the games that are exclusive to PS4 & Xbox One than feel free!
One reminder: Expect a fanboy war!

I'm primarily a PC player, but I do own one console.

That console is the Playstation 4.

Mainly because the PS4 is cheaper, has better hardware, the exclusives are more appealing and the buisness practices surrounding it have been infinitely better.

The UI, controller and Online service are also better in my opinion.

Come on Hassknecht, i don't even own a console but i'm planning on getting a PS4. I've always resided with PC's, but lately the PS4 has really shined to me with the new Mad Max coming out on it. You can tell i love the Mad Max Franchise by my signature. I've heard the PS4 destroys Xbox One with better hardware, also the online capability's really stand out for someone on a low budget like me. I respect your humorous reply, but this really isn't the time and place to do so.

Every time is the perfect time for humour.
Man, I have no clue about the new generation of consoles. I heard good and bad about both, but I really don't know. Just go by which controller feels best or something like that :D

I haven't gotten the chance to try out the PS4, but so far my experience with owning the Xbox One has been fine. I upgraded it from a PS3, and I can say that I prefer the new controller and its graphical capabilities. The interface is a bit iffy, but honestly I don't mind. When it comes down to which console is "better", I don't really know if it matters. In my mind, both consoles do pretty much the same thing, which is running games, watching movies etc. Does anyone feel that it just comes down to whether or not you like Sony or Microsoft?

PS4 hands down. Better exclusives, better incentives to shell out cash for PS+, all around a better system. Microsoft lost a lot of fans with the E3 fiasco before launch. "Hey if you don't have internet go buy a 360 instead!" :seriouslyno:

Most of my friends decided to go with PS4 instead.

If you want to play the games that are on Xboxone you can mostly play them on pc anyway, so they lose out when it comes to exclusives. The system is slightly weaker too which doesn't give it any perks. I don't care for Halo, Gears of War, or any other exclusive Microsoft might come up with, but Sony usually puts something out that drags me in.

I guess that's true Hassknecht and yeah a couple of weeks back i was playing on Xbox 360 with my bud Christian "COD:Black Ops" the controller was super comfortable; don't worry i think COD is shit.
Gordog it may just come down to reference at the end of the day, if you enjoy the console and games then why worry about the compeitition. I guess it's all about what you enjoy, which funnily enough is 'Running games' and 'Watching movies'.
still going for ps4 lol

EDIT: Yeah also i think PS1 cloud emulation is really promising, imagine Resident Evil 2 & Gran Turismo in 1080p
I loved those games on the Playstation when i was little. SYNDICATE WARS!

Playstation 4, simply because it feels more game oriented compared to Xbox One. I also spent most of my time with the PS3 during the last gen. It was a very user-friendly console to me and collecting trophies is fun. PS+ is also another great thing that the PS4 benefits from, because of all the awesome freebies and all that stuff.

i havent really done a console since they moved to the dual joystick setups.

the PS4 has several pieces of hardware that are better than the Xbrick such as DDR5 ram rather than DDR3, but they are generally the same.

the technical capabilities of the consoles means the PS4 has a slight edge.

plus, both of them can do 1080p blu-ray in native resolution which is nice. but its harder for the xbrick which means more heat.

in all honesty, if i really became interested in buying one, the true deal-breaker for me is if i cannot hardwire it.

if it does not have an ethernet port in the back, i wouldnt have any interest in it.

i hear both already have keyboard and mouse dongles.

Thankfully the PS4 has all the necessary ports, in addition to built-in wireless. It always boggled my mind that the 360 was made with analog video and that you had to buy your own adapters to use HDMI, and that you ALSO had to buy a wireless adapter for it AND ALSO you had to pay for XBLA to access its online features, so for the life of me I never understood why the 360 was so popular during the last generation. The lines are much blurrier this time around, but Sony STILL has the clear upperhand. Not by as much, but they still have it. The announcement that mods are coming to consoles is going to do interesting things to the schism between "console peasants" vs "PC master race" once the latter loses a major selling point, but naturally the systems themselves will always lag well behind their custom-build cousins.

So, if it wasn't obvious from what I said, I'm on the PS4 side of the fence, well and truly entrenched within, boarding up the openings in anticipation of the zombie outbreak, though not AS happily as I was last generation. I owned both 360 and PS3 last generation, and I ended up setting my 360 aside to collect dust after a little while, but this time around I simply saw zero incentive to waste money on a One. None whatsoever.

If it comes down to playing a console, and you must choose between the two, PS4 all the way. It's hands down the superior between the two.

The Ps4 seems to be the one with the better exclusives coming down the line. Also most Xbone exclusives see to be eventually be making their way into PC so there is no much point in owning that one at all.

Wow, you pretty much summed up all that I was going to type. I totally agree with your viewpoint. Plus the PS4 I think tends to have more Japanese titles ported over to "The West" so we are treated to that as a bonus over our xbone console comrades.

The last console i owned was a 90' ziliton (a NES clone), built by Chinese for the new post soviet market. I was still playing the first super mario game, while people in the civilized world were enjoying the new Fallout 1 game. So i'm not that well versed on consoles (well i did play playstation 1 games in computer cafes), but i'm curious, what's the point of a console in year 2015? By this point it's an over-complicated console, or an under-performing pc, with more expensive games, and the need to have a good expensive TV.

Because people have gotten in their heads that it is somehow more "convenient".

I heard this many times, but it baffles me a bit, since you can hook up a controller to your pc and if you own a console, you still need a pc for other tasks. Are there any other conveniences which i fail to see?
