Your Favorite Companions

Dont like companions in F.NV, they make things too easy.

but I like Veronica, good looks and character

Why choose when I can have all of them?

But if i have to choose... I guess Boone and Ed-e and Fawkes in the third.

I haven't even tried all of them so far. But ED-E is definitely the best one to have around, especially if you have Lonesome Road and have played it.

But I'd say Cass is my favorite, gotta love that foul mouthed shotgun-toting lass.

I also recently picked up Lily for the first time ever and really enjoy having her around, she has fun dialogue and voice acting. But generally, melee companions are a bit of a pain if you're not going melee yourself. Especially her, she's always in front of me and her big frame easily blocks my view. I know she can do ranged as well, but it just doesn't feel right. Such a waste of all that muscle.

Definitely Arcade Gannon. But I will have to really finish the rest of the companion quests to get a good sense of all of them.

I never really liked the idea of ED-E.
BUT, I have installed (and personally customized) a mod that implements famous movie quotes to take the place of the taunts. You know, real 50's threats and such. Maybe, once I get a taste of that, I'll come around to the thing.

Raul hands down is my favourite, god I love that sarcastic bastard. Shame he didn't get as much attention as the otheres did. As for ED-E or Rex, I uselly run around with ED-E. I havn't played any of the DLCs so I have no opinion on those. Second favourite companion, Arcade Ganon, also because of his sarcasm. I like my companions to be funny and up beat, rather than some stick in the mud like most of FO3's companions were.

Raul was indeed awesome! Sadly i tend to keep away from black mountain for a bit to long so i won't get him any time soon when i play.

Rex is usless unless you ain't playing HC and even then he is outclassed by ED-E.
Cass is a karma whore but besides that she is ok.
Never used Veronica besides melee but i find her kinda annoying and other companions are often better.
AG is not to shabby but for some reason i tend to ditch him for Bone or Raul every time.
Bone is a god damn emo and if it wassn't for him having a good story and being the "best" i would probably skip him a lot more!

And besides that quest i never used Lilly! She got a way to overpowered perk!

Boone, Veronica and Arcade Gannon in the main game, all had great stories. Christine from dead Money is up there too, just because she delays the infernal beeping of the collars. The other companions in that game are great too. I don't much care about combat ability, though I like Boone's "spotter" perk.

Veronica was cool. First companion I've ever had in the Fallout series that felt like more than just a hired gun. Excluding Cassidy from Fo2.

Veronica's quest, though, is... powerful, scary, even.

McNamara's last line in that questline was just this subtly pessimistic sigh of conformism... felt noble, and wrong, but not mislead.

Cool FLCL avatar.

That being said, I have definitely found my least favorite companion.

Arcade. The guy is so uncharismatic, it's awful. I mean, aside from being forced into the mold of his personal theology in order to keep him or even be respected by him, he's self-deprecating to the point were you can't even talk to him. Most of the dialogue options to him reflect this, actually.

Also: "Stop thinking", while funny, is freaking annoying to be told.

I have only had him for like, thirty minutes, but man, I'm not digging it.

don't give up on Arcade; he has one of my favourite stories in the whole game. It doesn't unlock until you're near the end of the game, but it's worth the wait.

Raul (for his perk which made my life easier + he's as good in combat as Boone is. Usually equipped with Gobi sniper rifle since the ammo is so easy to get and strong. Full maintenance kept my sanity going when using those low-durability weapons.)

Rex (Amazing tank with like 700 HP + extremely big damage, this dog amazed me - largely underrated. Fast enough to draw attention, strong enough to last until the end of combat alive. Even could tank a few deathclaw hits!)

I just take them for a walk, do the companion quest, give them a set of matching armor (black armor + AMR for Boon, paladin toaster + T-51b to Veronica, etc..) and ditch them just because they start yelling and shotting/punching foes when I'm in [CAUTION]. Sigh..

Raul is slightly worse then Boone untill you do his quest and most of us are playing HC wich means that Rex will die.. And E-DE is just better and more awesome! Especially with LSR.

Veronica, Cass and ED-E. The latter two are powerful, but I like to kinda headcanon that my female Couriers and Veronica end up in a friends-with-benefits relationship (they have to sleep, right?).

Boone by far is my favorite. His back story is pretty interesting and his sharpshooting skills do come in handy quite a lot. Not to mention is awesome beret!
