Your Favorite Companions

Veronica. I loved her sense of humor.
I guess I would like Cassidy as well (from what I heard about her), but I find it too difficult to get her.
Not really worth the effort.

It's not hard to get her. Just go to.. The trading company wich i totaly forgot the name of just now and do 1 quest. Then head down to the outpost and drag her with you. I think you can get her by doing the Silver Rush quest to but i allways get her the "normal" way.

Yes, but I'm lazy. I don't want to start a quest just to get a companion. Especially if the quest requires me to kill her.

You can start the quest, pick up Cass, visit the caravan's remains with her, start Heartaches by the number quest and kill/denounce Van Graffs and MacLafferty instead :P

Just because 1 quests tells you to kill her doesn't mean you have to kill her  !

Why so little love for Lilly? she is a sweet Grandma... that happens to be a Supermutant wih a Helicopter blade as a Sword.

Definitely Veronica. Her quirky attitude and the fact she can punch out enemies makes her a keeper.

Followed by ED-D, Raul, Cass, and Rex.

I haven't really used Arcade Gannon and Lily yet, and I haven't been able to complete Boone's personal quest yet, so I'm reserving judgement for him.

ED-E and follow the chalk.
for follow the chalk, his ability seems impressive.
If the sequel of NV(I don't think beth will make it though) makes companion his ability would be great if there's lots of mountains or cliff.

I like Boone, Rex., and Lily. But I love how Arcade Gannon (SPOILER ALERT) can give you the option to fight alongside enclave remnants at the dam. Not to mention the original fallout 2 enclave power armor or tesla armor depending

My favourite companions personality wise are dog/god, and I like Veronica as well.

But the most useful companion will always be Raul, his perk bests all the others(Besides Ed-e, and Lily, the others have completely useless perks.) he's durable, and he has the highest gun skills.

Cass definitely has the most interesting personality. Just my kind of girl :)

I find Veronica to be too bitter and annoying (sig).

Boone is a fine dude. Silent and dedicated - a good brother in arms. Still - Cass is much more fun to have around.

ED-e is a must have. I like that he doesn't talk.

Never bothered to hire non-human companions. I just don't like the idea.

Wait-- no offense meant, and I known taste is subjective and all that, but... You prefer Cass, yet Veronica is too bitter? Error, does not compute.

Mmm... Yes. Exactly. Cass has gone through much, lost just everything. She has no home, no family, and now she has lost her business and her name. She isn't bitter, she is pissed off. And this is gone after your complete her quest. She never complains that you make her carry too much, she is optimistic and doesn't bore you with sarcasm and doesn't try putting a fate of BoS at your shoulders, like you should carry it for no reason. Fuck, I'm a lone wolf, trying to survive in the Wasteland, why the hell should I babysit a bunch of grown boys in power armor? (those who try to kill me in the process, btw). "OMG, we are dying out"... Sure, babe. No shit. How many children you're going to give birth to? Hypocrite.

PS: Besides, Veronica herself, as a character, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. A lesbian scribe chick, who is great at punching things? Reminds me of this:

I have an overall impression that devs simply felt obliged to add some lesbian character to a game - for diversity and shit. If they wanted to add some melee/unarmed companion to the game - she is not exactly the most meaningful choice. Bringing in some huge tribal, with possible reference to either Sulik or Arroyo (like mentioning "Uncle Sulik", hehe), would be much more fun.

So she's pissed off, and decides the best place to direct her anger is towards random strangers? Hmm, she sounds like a bright one. Veronica is not bitter, her sarcasm is humor. You must lack the VG version of empathy if it isn't blatantly obvious that Veronica spends the majority of her time joking around. Veronica's quest is optional, and she keeps her generally cheery attitude whether it's done or not.

Cass, Boone, pretty much everyone requires that you fix their problems for them. Cass may be pissed off, but I don't find it quite as endearing as you do that she sits around whining about it instead of acting.(Unless you solve all of her problems that is.)

Besides, bitter or not, Cass's salty tone is terribly unnatractive.(And adds to the perception that she is bitter.) She reminds me of Ashley and Jack from ME.(equally annoying characters.)

Onholyservicebound, I've been asked for explanation of my impression - I've given it to you. If you don't like it - piss off. If your point is to prove that I lack "VG version of empathy" (where VG stands for Virtual Girlfriend, I suppose?) - ok. Have it your way.

As to humor - look how Walpknut tried to make a joke. It was even kind of funny. But if he repeats this joke for several hours, I bet even Makta will stop laughing and will get bored with it. The thing is, I guess - some people get bored with repeated jokes sooner than others. I'm probably one of those who gets bored long before he hears it for 5th time. You are a different kind of person. That's cool, bro, nothing's wrong with that.

I have an affection for all of them, but at the end of the day Rex & Veronica is my dream team. Rex is adorable, has a kick-ass backstory and is a BEAST. Watching him leap at cazadors is pretty great, too.

With Veronica, I love melee fighting, so having someone that strong on them to compliment my guns is aces. I also like her personality, sweet and sensitive with a nice sarcastic edge. On my last playthrough the BOS killed some Followers then attempted at Veronica, and I HATED them for that although plot-wise it's perfect.

In fights they're killer, and they're fun to pal around the mojave with. Perfect.
