Your GOTY 2018

so basically all the boring bits of filler that an overworld is designed to skip over?
Basically from a design standpoint for the sake of beeing the first people who leave the Vaults.
Maybe still with Multiplayer, but it really would need to be a more desolate and about day to day survival like Dust for instance. But I doubt that they could pull that off in a good way, hence waiting for modding. ^^"

I would say Dragon Quest XI would be mine, I didn't play much last year with Art Classes at night and work on the day, so that was the only game I could complete. I did have a lot of fun tho. I also played Digimon Hacker's memory but I got too much into grinding digievolutions and I haven't completed it, also started Danganronpa but due to lack of time I resorted to watching YT let's plays of it to see the rest of the story (will still play them later tho), I got very into Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild, but that was during December of the previous year so I guess don't count.

I did get into Final Fantasy XV for PC but sadly the game has quite a steep drop off in quality after the Leviathan event so I think DQXI does offer a better experience altogether.

I didn't play a lot of games from this year though I'd say Kingdom Come Deliverance was a lot of fun.

As for re-releases I have enjoyed, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 were pretty good. I didn't manage to play other games like God of War 2018, Spider-Man 2018 & Return of the Obra Dinn.

So, I'd put KCD as the game I'd consider GOTY from this year and the 2 Kiwami games. Aside from that, I kept returning to older games I owned like Deus Ex, Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines etc.

well i don't know about you but i wouldn't want that gif on my screen when the boss looks over my shoulder. hence the nsfw spoiler tag.
I mean, if that's our definition of NSFW, then pretty much everything that isn't directly work-related is NSFW.

Don't Starve Together and Fallout Tactics kept me going for the most part, with a helping of Secret World Legends and Dawn of War.

played age of empires with a couple members here. it was neat. came out a pretty long way away from 2018 but that was some of the better gaming sessions i had in 2018.

DOOM 2016 surprised me by being well good. like really good.

Doom Eternal (shit name btw) looks like its gonna kick even more ass.

as i've said previously in this thread my actual GOY 2018 is hitman 2. even though half of its levels are from a 2016 release, the improved bits of gameplay like mirrors being mirrors, being able to see where cameras can see (you could already tell if you were paying super close attention but now there's a nice visual aid), hiding in foliage, and the return of the suitcase took a formula i already thought was flawless and brings it to near perfection.

the devs have said they wanna keep doing this until at least HITMAN 4 so the hypothetical hitman 4 will have 24 levels (6 original levels and 18 from previous entries) and keep applying new gameplay tweaks to old levels.

but honestly tho the only complaint i have related to actual gameplay is that NPCs don't seem to mind when you enter a room from a direction you shouldn't be coming from and they don't seem to acknowledge massive pools of blood.

but other than that HITMAN 2 is a very rare perfect 10/10.

I thought about getting it but I doubt it will release on any service besides Bethesda.net and they are doing some sort of weird Dark Souls invasion shit that I don't really care to see in Doom. I think I'll pass, though I wish the sequel didn't look unappealing to me at the moment.
Don't Starve Together
Is Don't Starve that good? I have either the original one or the Together one but I've never been bothered to try it.

Depends on if you like the genre or not. Together is a little more fun due to friends.

"this entirely optional feature is dumb whole game ruined lololololololo"
Wasn't aware that it was optional but great input. The game's not out anyway, I have no real opinion on it yet, just my impressions. That didn't impress me at all.
