Hottest Video Game Characters?

Is This Poll Pointless?

She seems like that simply because the game doesn't cover her character all that much as it does with Triss. After all, Triss is featured in three games and Yennefer in only one - and her inclusion there is still kinda wonky, given the character's massive importance.

Eh, the irony was Triss was basically Yennefer in the first game. The bitchy rich spoiled "Veronica" of the pair and then she became the Betty for no reason. Well, yes, the reason is Shani (the previous "Betty") was gone so Triss took up the slack.

If you look at her from the perspective of the books and the games, she is still one huge manipulative, calculative bitch - with a heart of gold. The game doesn't make that obvious enough, unfortunately.
What's the other unfortunate is that Triss isn't really any better - she too is hugely manipulative and has used Geralt in ways Yennefer probably never could - but is all nice and sweet on the outside, so there you have it.

Eh, Geralt has a type it seems. The big difference in the Witcher 3 is the book Geralt gives every bit as much as Yennefer does and that's how their relationship works. Being snide and condescending to your love interest right back isn't something the writers seemed okay with, though.

On my end, I tend toward Leliana and Shani types in my games but I married a Yennefer type.

Triss goes all angry without much build up, she always came off as the most manipulative character, and I ain't into that whole Tsundere shit, Yennefer at least stabs you from the front.

I'm not sure if I'm following you. Your analogies confuse me.
That aside, why the mention of Shani? She is the definition of the minor character in the books. Or you're just referreing to Shani from original game who is quite underdeveloped - a remark which many characters from TW1 share. I suppose writers weren't sure where to go with the story and characters, so they made the main character amnesiac, significantly altered some of the other characters and pretty much rehashed the story of the books - all the while making it seem small and relatively "retconable", which is what they basically did with the other two games which have very little mention of events from the first game.

Geralt is a douche sometimes and that's true. After all, he is the one who kinda fired the first shot that created the tension in their relationship.
The writers did include some of that, but only a bit. In reality, most of the dialogues they have in the game are concerned over something greater and more important than their relationship, so there was no place for that.
Also, as far as the large chunk of the books go, Geralt and Yen spent very little time together and their relationship is explored largely through comments and remarks by other characters. What little "screen time" they have together - well, it's fine.

Sorry, I'm speaking about the Witcher 1 video game versus the books. In the video games, they got rid of Yennefer for two of them and in the first game Triss wasn't "THE" love interest but one of two. In the sequel, Triss was "THE" Love InterestTM but that changed with the trilogy. What I'm saying is that in the games, there tends to be two kinds of women (summarized as The Betty and Veronica) which the PC can choose from.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BettyAndVeronica

One tends to be bitchy and interesting, the other sweet and supportive.

Morrigan and Leliana (Dragon Age)
Yennefer and Triss (Witcher 3)
Triss and Shani (Witcher)
Isabella and Merrill (Dragon Age 2)
Tifa and Aerith (FF VII)
Ashley and Liara (Mass Effect)
Miranda and Tali (Mass Effect 2)
The Princess and your childhood friend (Jade Empire)
Piper and Cait (Fallout 4)

And so on and so on.

Eh, there's a caveat there. Unlike Western literature, where the short stories are considered somewhat disposable, "The Last Wish" and "The Sword of Destiny" really are the first two books in the series and there's a shit ton of Geralt and Yennefer in them.

Ah, I see now. Yeah, the way they handled romantic choices in TW1 is kinda weird, but refer to me previous post.
As far as consistency goes, CDPR actually managed to offer a solution that isn't completely half-assed.

If Geralt choses Shani, turns out the relationship doesn't work out after Alvin goes missing, Shani leaves Vizima etc. Geralt ends up with Triss in the beginning of TW2. (Shani's reintroduction in Hearts of Stone serves to strengthen this notion where Shani is work first, pleasure and all that lazz later - like in the books.)
If Geralt choses Triss, well...he ends up with Triss at the beginning of TW2 obviously. And then somewhere between TW2 and TW3 when his memories are fully restored he realizes that Triss has really been using him the whole time for her own desires mostly - she did quite nicely fill in the role of romantic companion in Geralt's life even after he becomes amnesiac ("I have a feeling I have loved a sorcereress before."). Anyway, because of this realization Geralt and Triss break up off-screen between TW2 and TW3.
I like to think that this break-up is also influenced by the fact that Geralt's love of life is Yennefer, but that's never shown in the games. Which is good, would be awkward from the role-playing perspective otherwise

So, it's wonky and dodgy, but there's some logic in this.

I wasn't disposing of them, quite on contrary. However, those two short story collection are just 2 books in a series of 7 books (8 books total, if you include the latest midquel), and of the dozen stories in those books Yen appears in less than half. In any case, when you look at all the 7 books, Geralt and Yen being together in the same scene is a very, very small portion of the saga. She is a huge character on her own though.

Yeah, but Gerald got the chance to fuck all of them. So that kinda evens it out, no?

My Geralt ended up with Triss because while canon Geralt is a Yennfer man, my Geralt was changed by his experiences.

I felt like a jackass for what I did to poor Yennefer, though.

Bad timing to break her heart but I suppose there's no good timing for that sort of thing.

Canon Geralt? Aren't the games supposed to play AFTER the books? I mean didn't Geralt die in the last book or something?

Yennefer is the hottest videogame character. She is like, a goth chick and shit.

I picked Yen in my playthru but not because she was my personal favorite but because it felt like the best choice for Geralt. Shes awesome and she grew on me after awhile but I dig chicks like Triss in terms of personality and looks more personally.

Purely looks wise I feel W3 Triss is the hottest.

Geralt died in the last book....sort of. He died and then Yennefer died trying to save him but Ciri transported their souls or bodies or something into Avalon.

Then a guy who was very possibly Geralt showed up in the last book's framing device (a prequel) to explain what the books said happened wasn't entirely true.

Sapkowski is like that.

Or he just did that cause that last book was a money grab.

Anyway, both you and @Crni Vuk should start using spoiler tags. Spoiling book's ending is not a nice thing to do.

Would it not have been easier and less time consuming if you just said the whole female cast of any C&C game?

And liking real world chicks? How quaint. Get with the times gramps, 2D and 3D waifu's is where it's at.

On that note, I want to soothe this chick's rage with my [Redacted - Too dirty].

I actually wouldn't mind getting her addicted to my character's fish sticks and have her suck on the lemonade i give her as well until her belly is full of fishsticks and lemonade, I'd also get Piper and Cait to be their little cousins. She may be old but it isn't too late to turn her into a fishstick and lemonade diet loving old lady.

fixed it for youuu
