God Awful Dialogue

I'm sorry but the dialogue for this game is some of the worst I have seen and heard in a game in a long time. Its so bad and cringe inducing that I couldn't help but face palm until I thought my skull was going to cave in listening to it. Brilliant lines like these to name a few:
"In 100 years, when I die, I hope I go to hell just so I can kill you all over again you piece of shit."
"Goddamn it you mercenary motherfucker. Where. Is. My. Son?"
Did Tommy Wiseau write the dialogue because it sure feels like it. Hell I half expected during the meeting that Shaun has with the rest of The Institutes idiots I expected him to say "Well I got the results of the test back, I definitely have cancer." :V

First mod I downloaded was for my character to stfu.
Even then that doesn't save you from having to read the stupid and God awful dialogue. It just gives you and your ears the mercy of not having to hear your bland sounding character from speaking Bethesda and Emil "brilliant" dialogue.

I too do not like the dialogue system of Fallout 4, and I think that's an area where the majority seems to agree might be the weakest aspect of the game. But must you be so hostile about it; there are better ways to present your critisicms without chiding that "fucking stupid system writen by those hack frauds."

Your just putting words in my mouth. I never said that the system was "fucking stupid" (even though it is fucking stupid and a bad rip off of the Mass Effect system). All I said was how the dialogue (not the system) in the game was God awful and cringe inducing. You can not tell me with a straight face that the dialogue in this game didn't make you face palm over a dozen times.

Is the dialogue quality generally similar to those lines or those are the worst? Because I simply cannot find any words to express how stupid they are.

Basically everything the "Sarcastic" button (yeah, that's actually a thing) says is cringeworthy. They have worse dialogue than Devil may Cry and Godhand.... and those games had Bad dialogue on propouse.... That has to take some effort.

It's worse when the receiver of the "Sarcastic" button engages in snarking back, double cringe. Specially Nick Valentine.

Have you noticed that the game doesn't even allow you to not believe Father about his identity after a certain point in the conversation? All the options suddenly become different ways of saying "I believe you".

Or when he questions you about if you could love the kid, 3 options of I hate robots and 1 of I love my baby.

In a recent experience (about an hour ago...) I was wandering over a bridge near Cabot house on way to a quest marker when I noted a non-hostile 'raider' and the following events play out:

The NPC engages me into a conversation as I approach... here is what happened, almost word for word, for the following - keep in mind I have a 10 charisma character...

Raider: "Hey you, nobody gets over this bridge unless I say so, you gotta pay or me and my pals here are gonna mess you up bad"
Me: (using the charisma check option highlighted yellow) "I don't want to pay"
// successful check
raider: "ah, ok, then how about a few caps less"
Me: (using the charisma check option highlighted orange) "can I not?"
// successful check
Raider: "you gotta pay somethin!"
Me (using the charisma check highligted red) "no"
// successful check
Raider: "oh ok then, off you go"

This entire conversation was such a shattering break of suspension of disbelief / immersion, I just sat and stared blankly at my monitor for a few minutes.

A group of raiders, desperate for caps and more than willing to to do me harm basically just gave up because I said 'no'

UTTER HORSE-SHITE

Considering I'm playing as a female, with 10 charisma, I was thinking, maybe the options would 'flirt' my way through, or I would somehow beguile the raider into placation... Instead my character literally just says "no" - I've read better scripted fortune cookies.

Its like no effort was made what so ever with the dialogue. I didn't think that they would make worse dialogue then what I've seen in Fallout 3 and Skyrim but they did it. Emil somehow did it. The dialogue in this game is bland at BEST and cringe worthy at its worst. When Tommy Wiseau writes dialogue and interactions better then anything you see in your crappy game then you should know that you done fucked up hard.

If it does it's not from dialogue because there is barely any and most of the lines net you the same response. I think they counted Battle Chatter and inflated the number by counting individual genders and voice actors saying the same lines. I mean they claimed to have 8 endings but there are only 4 and the supposed 8 came from taking the female version of the same endings as a seperate set of endings. Also all endings have the exact same ending cutscene and no individual endings for anything.

See, the voice actors liked the lines too. I'm thinking that main management at Bethesda told the entire development team that the game was supposed to be cliché and stereotypical. Sort of like the modern Saint's Row games.

It's supposed to not be taken seriously. I go into Fallout 4 expecting it to be alternate history Saint's Row, and it plays out just fine. Expect it to be a pseudo-realistic representation of post-apocalyptic America, and you'll be very disappointed.

Do the game really has 111 000 lines of dialogue though?

Variations of "I've got another settlement for you to check out, I'll mark it on your map" and enemy lines like "Agh, I'm hit!" counts, so I expect that yes, it did really have 111,000 lines of dialogue. Technically.

I was just expecting a Fallout game, they weren't realistic or always super serious but they were well written. Also Saints Row has more wit than anything in FO4, with SR3 you can laugh with the game, with FO4 all you can do is cringe at it. There is also a flaw in that defense in that FO4 actually tries to have "heavy" and emotional moments, the ambient music even changes with certain scenes and the Ending and Intro Narrations have a melancholic tone. There is no excuse, the game is just poorly written, and of course the voice actors won't badmouth the game they worked on, that would be career sucide.
