Who's best for America?

Who do you think is the best for the future of America and why?

Personally I would think it would be the Enclave. As inbred as they are, they would be the best because they want to get rid of every mutant and restore America to its former glory.

And mutants are bad because...?

America is not glorious because of the government. The original Enclave wanted to kill everyone with the slightest amount of radiation, so essentially they're murdering all the descendents of U.S. citizens. Not sure that helps to restore a nation. Arcade Gannon refered to them as a "fascist paramilitary organization," so pretty much the opposite of the founding fathers. The NCR are actually a lot closer in nature to the U.S. than the Enclave, so I guess they would be better for acquiring land, establishing government, and providing citizens a safe place to live and trade.

Anyway, I don't think conventional nation states will exist again in the Fallout universe. Humanity, for the most part is back to the days of tribes. It'll take another Alexander the Great before another empire successfully rises up and expands.

Many mutants are just as much people as anyone who was born in a vault. Especially when you consider that the Enclave considers anyone who has been exposed to the slightest amount of FEV or radiation to be a mutant.

Plus the fact that pre-war America was hardly glorious. It was an oppressive, expansionist, sexist, racist dystopia. Not something people should be working to restore

Everyone likes the Enclave because they have cool stuff and have a few American flags lying around. Take away their advanced technology (power armor, vertibirds, oil rig, weapons, etc.), take away their military (so they're not badass anymore), and you're left with a few misguided bureaucrats. I don't think they are evil, just terribly misguided. I say this because you can convince Dr. Curling that mutants aren't really that much different, and he admits he hadn't thought about the mortality of the decision to release the FEV.

Well didn't the government put all Chinese citizens into internment camps? Or am I making this up? I recall internment camps In OWB.

I forgot about that. Still, mistrust of Chinese citizens is racial profiling, and putting them in internment camps is quite unethical. However, I'm not convinced that American citizens considered themselves 'racially superior' to the Chinese. Either way, point taken.

:eyebrow: "Mutants" includes Harold, so I respectfully disagree.

Well, for one they don't have a small military supported by Germanic mercenaries, they're not suffering from an economic crisis, they have limited arts and culture and... well do some research and you find a lot of differences.

Their military is made of the many tribes they took over in the south west, much like Rome with their Germanic mercs.

How many people do you see deal in Legion coins (I forget the name)?

Some good points are made in Shoddycast's video explaining why the legion wouldn't be good for the US.

So? The tribes have no independent identity anymore and they're not hired in the sense of the word.

Not many, but that's because for most of the game you're in foreign territory.

Don't tell me, Caesar dies and everything falls apart?

It'll take a long time before the American Wasteland begins to resemble its Pre-War counterpart and it'll have to through several empires and nations before it does. The NCR can be considered to be the first unifier I suppose, but the majority of communities out there are still either tribes or towns.

By the time a nation-state manages to conquer the entirety of the US again, the cultural landscape will be completely different from the Pre-War version.

So, in short, no modern group can be said to be the best for the Wasteland, but I suppose the NCR is doing the best job at creating some sort of unification within its borders.
